Time to circle the wagons

528

We all needed to get Tuesday night out of our system, but we must also put the result behind us and not allow it to bleed into the rest of the campaign.  Every game is important in the coming weeks, even the home cup-tie against Dunfermline, which in different circumstances would be viewed as an opportunity to exercise the squad.

Dunfermline, presumably AIK Stockholm, Hearts, AIK and Newco await.  We cannot afford to wallow in permanent introspective.  We need to get our act together and get on with it.

Five days ago, I was feeling good about the start to the season.  We had scored 12 goals in two league games, last season we scored seven in seven.  For all Neil made mistakes on Tuesday, he is not plotting behind our backs.  The manager, players and board will feel this as much as we do.  If things go against us in the coming weeks, you will know how alone we are.

Time to circle the wagons.

I travelled to Celtic away games on a Celtic supporters bus nearly 40 years ago. I know he is Celtic through and through. He was following Celtic when KT’s parents were babies.

    Hi GFTB

As far as Res 12, yes the wheels have all been punctured, and i know

you feelings on that issue but as a shareholder i would like answers.

Communication with the fans? non existent.

And 10 million pounds worth of new players sitting on the bench why?

    and don’t say it’s a fitness issue.

And i think over the years i’ve posted you know i can be described as a

happy clapper but my blind faith is being eroded slowly and bit by bit.

    Back to cleaning the flatscreen.

Peter Lawell had the chance to go to Arsenal a good number of years ago for a bigger salary but said “no thanks” … although don’t think he was getting £75k @ week … is Peter more of a Celtic fan ?

He just knows a sinking ship when he see’s one. He also knows that at Arsenal he would have to accept full responsibility for his failings as there won’t be anyone jumping to his defence telling everyone & their granny that “PL is a dyed in the wool Gooner”

    Nice try though

  4. ST 12.38am

I don’t disagree with much you post but … it does seem you jump on any Celtic defeat … to justify your own opinion … I don’t give a stuff about PL, like I won’t care about the next CEO, some fans have a fixation about people who don’t even football (that’s my view of Celtic) it’s only CQN and other internet places that actually make my Celtic existence worse :-)

But glad to see you posting, posting, posting and posting but would have also enjoyed a few posts after the treble treble when Celtic were collecting trophies … that’s the one part of your argument that falls down … no joy with the team … but plenty when things fail … I know for a fact you are a Celtic fan … but sometimes some Celtic fans are happier when Celtic under attack …maybe you’ve been down under too long … or is your hatred of the board more important than your love of the team

Dallas had already told me about ST, and me and ST have already communicated on the blog, he knows a good friend of many of my acquaintances, the Sydney CSC bhoy fae the brig (well Townhead) outer Coatbrig :-)

  6. GFTB i have been posting about Pl failing since the wilo window, a mistake he admitted he made years later

the wilo window cost our club about 80M in lost income and kept the lights on at ibrox for an extra 3 years

people talk about corporate business , in any businesses that a top manger made that mistake, he would be on his bike.

his 2nd massive mistake was of course Ronny a man with no european experience . the defeats to maribor and Leagia warsaw were a corporate disaster, our core business is football, massive failing and he should of walked. we ended up shutting down a stand as PL decisions stopped fans from wanting to come

indeed i might have dropped of radar for a few years, but i was having severe personal issues which took a long time to resolve

but the one thing is see , is Peter lawwell is a disaster for our club since 2009, from 2003 to 2009 great job,

but his time was up in 2010 and 9 years later we under all over control of one man and he is failing our team

if he was such a big celtic fan he should have walked

if and a big if he was offered the Arsenal job , he would not be there now as he would have been sacked

Mick, I will say this to I am “green” in the face … the Huns cheated its that they do, ReS12 is a disgrace from Celtic, the Huns liquidated never ever let them forget it, if it was Celtic we would be embarrassed … but for all the old bhoys on here … the young team are more interested in games against rangers / Sevco / newco or whatever you want to call them … like it or lump it … they are our rivals old or new … am sure a few posters will start moaning about hatred or whatever else but same posters will be going nuts if we don’t skelp them on 1/9/19…. then Cluj will be like a pre season friendly

  9. DELANEYS DUNKY nae i dont

GFTB indeed that bhoy is on the gold coast for a stag week

  10. Auldheid

“It is not obvious as long as the team is on course for 9iar, but if the rules are bent during the coming season as they clearly have been by SFA in the past to favor TRFC , then not supporting Res12 with equal vigor is not supporting the team.

Of course if the rules are somehow applied fairly we will be ok. However if we lose points to dodgy decisions or players to dodgy disciplinary decisions, then will the indifference evaporate.”

That is true, but it was also true of each of the seasons since they died in 2012. An Ibrox mob came back into the league in 2016/17 and have finished 3rd , 3rd and 2nd. They were welcomed back with full stadiums- that was attributed to the BR effect by our support- but Sevco fans attribute it to them being back and many of our young fans corroborate that view by wanting them back to play about with them for a bit.

Now the playing about has ended and it’s serious. We are closing in on a holy grail, a second 9iar for us, and, possibly a first ever 10iar. We are getting anxious because, even though 8iar is a great achievement, not getting 9 will be. disaster and not getting 10, if 9 is achieved, will be intolerable.

So suddenly, those who wished them back are having second thoughts but it may be too late to win the legal battle against the cheats, if they do pip us to a league.

Any continuation of the challenge after we have lost a league will be treated the same way as complaining about refs after a lost game- it will be sour grapes.

The time for our Board to act and support the Resolution was in 2012 and the next few years. It loses relevance, unfortunately, with each passing year.

This is, in no way, a criticism of your efforts or those of others alongside you and it is not a defence of those who wanted Rangers back to play with. It is, I think, a clear headed reading of the corruption that surrounds football in Scotland and elsewhere.

The game is more than a bit bent.

But I do not want to deprive future generations of a Celtic team to support, even in a bent game. Our forefathers lived through similar periods of bent refs and lived on supporting, even when there was precious little glory.

We have had a surfeit of glory compared to them, but we show precious little appreciation of our fortune.

I wish you luck with all your efforts and I will continue to view Sevco as a tribute act and the SFA as their guardian devils.

The Huns are our biggest domestic rivals… they haven’t won a major trophy ever … their other entity since 2012…. Celtic get beat by the Romanian champions over 2 legs and some Celtic fans think the end is nigh

Some times you will only appreciate what you have when you don’t have it

  16. GFTB not sure of your question sir ?

indded i despised the old white and kellys, i wrote a letter to jack maginn in early 92 and asked him if Celtic would invest in team, i received no reply and thus joined the boycott .

Fergus of course said that the new PLC would be accountable to the fans, nice thoughts , but sadly nothing could be further from the truth . i remember when we were shown a model of the new stadium, we all said 60,000 is he mad !!!! build it and they will come, very true it was amazing

but to see peter lawwell appoint Ronny to be the coach( note not manger as PL was the Manger) and then to see those fans vanish because of PL it was very frustrating

the snake of course filled those stands again and we were run as football club again in his 1st season, but PL got more and more of a grip and gave the snake and excuse to run.

Peter lawwell has been at celtic for 16 years now , it is time for a change and our club be a football club 1st

Agreed, it was a shoite question

What I meant was … is the board more important than the team ?

Tuesday was terrible, am blaming Neil for that , but can you blame the board for spending £12m on 3 defenders and than the manger leaving 2/3 of the £12m on the bench …. the actual point was do you want to focus on Celtic winning trophies or Lawell & co not getting Celtic to the CL

    So

Football or boardroom … what is more important in your Celtic supporting view …. … that was my rubbish question

  19. Celtic please listen on

So Neil Lennon is a puppet ? Hang your heads in shame.

    A true Celtic legend.

I would like to flip the majority consensus last week on here & KT’s decision, he was quite right to further his career, triple his wages etc.

So lenny is offered the hot seat after picking up the pieces of the rat/snake ego maniac, who couldn’t give two f’s about Celtic fans players the whole shebang, securing the trinity of trebles & he is to knock back the same security/career progression after one defeat ? Double standards ?

Lenny deserves our backing the plc can gtf no change from me there, he needs the tools & did so wks ago we are reactive & never proactive that failing falls at the board’s door as it has done since 2012 with the governance or non governance off field & the abysmal planning of or again lack of in the football dept.

We need a starting rb(Hamed has done well looks an able deputy at rb or cb.

Two Lb’s, first & foremost who can defend. If Boli is the answer i dunno the question, he doesn’t have a defensive bone in his body. Those advocating him in a back four for the next 5 games ?? Seriously?? The fella is an attacking wing back or winger, never a defender.

The dithering this & previous Windows is negligent bordering on criminal, there won’t be & neither should there be any hiding place for our custodians. Crazy stuff as we have nine trophies in a row, that is despite the best efforts of the board to f it all up. HH

  20. Good night CQN …. Tuesday night was tough .., the players should be made to read CQN after a defeat … might make them buck their ideas up against Dunfermline & AIK

This website is as stable as Celtic tv coverage and as badly maintained as the squad every season. Reload reload reload reload reload is all it does. Big greedy dumb adverts over posts that open several pages. How stupid or desperate is that ? At a wild guess I’d say lawwel is funding this calamity of a site.

Sort it now. As for the team pahhhh less said the better. Shit up and accept it coz no one is gona do shit to change it nobody here, nobody that gifts them their hard earned cash every season, no major shareholder, no one. Suck it up bhoys we are well and truly fecked.

Never argue with people who are better informed than yourself.

    So I won`t.

Our Celtic will learn from this admittedly painful lesson and move forward.

    Of that I am convinced.

  23. GTFB it is a,loaded question as we have had a free run at domestic trophies for 7 years now

we will fail soon against der hun as we have failed against teams with far less money than us in europe

we must be a football club 1st and PLC 2nd , we must have someone at top looking after day to day operations and a complexly separate football department .

The complete breakdown of the relationship between PL and JP in 2016 was followed by Revelations taht JP was being forced by PL to go down a particular path which JP was uncomfortable with

so its not the case of board v team its a poor CEO V team and team always comes 1st for me

Auidheid resolution 12 was a god send to peter lawwell

it kept the focus away from him, he was and is never going to help you as he has his eyes on a nice job and SFA or Uefa in retirement and no way was he going to rock the boat

but once again again a godsend and boy did his mates in CQN milk it especially paul67 who mentioned again and again and helped you out, why? because if we concentrate on the old club, PL can quietly get on with ensuring his pension is secure, he is a leech who has no intention of making our team better

if as stated he could sell the whole 1st team and pitch under our manger to secure his bonus, he would

you have been had and its time to do something about it.

    ================

Total nonsense. He asked that it be withdrawn , hardly the act of a man wanting it to be a diversion is it?

He did agree to the idea of an adjournment when withdrawal was refused , when faced with compelling evidence that what the SFA told Celtic that allowed Celtic to say the Res was unnecessary in their official response, was highly questionable but insisted that the matter be investigated domestically, which turns out to be surprising given the right to do that had been surrendered in the 5 Way Agreement , something that only came out last July 2018 but was on record from 2012.

I have no doubts he thought/hoped that would be the end of it because he was made well aware of the compelling evidence months before Res12 was created, that something was dodgy, but nevertheless in the official response to the Res, Celtic stated it was unnecessary , again hardly the act of a club wanting it to become an issue, more the reverse actually.

The only bit you got right is something needs to be done about it and it will be.

Being far sighted can be a curse :)

Res12 was/is an attempt to get SFA reform on the back of encouragement from PL for it in the spring of 2013.

That it has failed in that respect is probably true, where it has not failed is in demonstrating just how corrupt our game is and how much a part of it are Celtic.

  30. SydneyTim on 16th August 2019 2:44 am

I think PL did not want it delayed to keep the focus from him as you suggested originally, but to stop the truth emerging, a truth that Celtic may well have been aware of and even party to, as had McCoist not screwed up then RFC might have survived with CL money, saving the subsequent efforts by SFA/SPL/SFL to make sure they did using sophistry Celtic accepted.

On CQN’s part that was a bit of mystery but it transpires it wasn’t Paul who was leading on Res12 but Winning Captains (although that was not known then) . In fact if I remember correctly a Judicial Review was Paul’s baby, but he was unwilling to include Res12/UEFA Licence in that review that never got anywhere due to having no locus, something that Res12 had and a point that was made to him.

There was a lot of mixed signals back then which made it difficult to know whom to trust, so we had no option but to do so.

However ever since the charges were made last May 2018 against TRFC a clearer narrative is emerging but trouble is

Contrast and compare with Lawwell with his smoke and mirrors approach.

Lawwell allowed Celtics shareholders to be screwed incl my good self. It should never have been fans to have chase this one. It was the clubs responsibility to be relentless on it ; however It was bad for business so it had to wither on the vine.

The old firm model has been restored and Lawwell has his missing £10M. Effectively Lawwell has screwed Celtic with his mis management and stood idly ( and that’s being generous to him ) by while we were shafted by the SFA.
