Time to circle the wagons

528

We all needed to get Tuesday night out of our system, but we must also put the result behind us and not allow it to bleed into the rest of the campaign.  Every game is important in the coming weeks, even the home cup-tie against Dunfermline, which in different circumstances would be viewed as an opportunity to exercise the squad.

Dunfermline, presumably AIK Stockholm, Hearts, AIK and Newco await.  We cannot afford to wallow in permanent introspective.  We need to get our act together and get on with it.

Five days ago, I was feeling good about the start to the season.  We had scored 12 goals in two league games, last season we scored seven in seven.  For all Neil made mistakes on Tuesday, he is not plotting behind our backs.  The manager, players and board will feel this as much as we do.  If things go against us in the coming weeks, you will know how alone we are.

Time to circle the wagons.

Why don’t we go and buy Bury and start a new project. Could be a vehicle to Englandshire?

Yes, there are different levels of shares. If I were to guess (& it is only a guess) i would say major share holders who receive this return.

I am just as clueless as you in understanding what it all means.

  6. Well, the reference to “circling the wagons” went down “like a lead balloon”.

Every attempt at a “stitch in time” produced 9 posters ripping their knitting.

A well aimed stone might kill 2 birds- one called Peter and one called………. Desmond, but they’d be replaced as you “can’t have your cake and eat it”.

We are between a rock and a hard place, bursting all our bubbles and crying over spilt milk in the Cludgie, as we got close but earned no UEFA cigar.

We can now “cut to the (League) Chase”, “back to Square One”, and “bark up the (right) tree”.

We might pay “an arm and a leg” for players who are a “dime a dozen” because “a fool and his money are soon parted”.

We will be left with a “chip on our shoulder” and not a “pot to piss in” if we “look after the pennies” but fail to pay entrance money for the “big picture”.

We can “speculate” with rumours “to accumulate” counter rumours because we know “there’s no smoke without fire” unless you have a smoke machine or a vape.

In sporting terms we are “on the ropes” having been “hit below the belt” and “we’re down for the count” because we did not “roll with the punches”. Some think we’re “down and out”. Others suggest “throwing in the towel”

I’d prefer to hit back with “the old 1-2” until we are the ones “counting to 10”

There’s “no I in team” but there is in whine and bitch and give up.

So, in conclusion, I am for “circling the wagons”. It does not mean moving on, because you will go nowhere interesting in a circle. The best reason for circling the wagons is because you are under attack by the wee arra people and you have superior firepower which you can deploy from a rounded defensive position.

Well it must be better than being “on the square”.

“It is amazing hoe one defeat can shatter all the confidence & feel good factors of the last 3 years,”

We had a similar situation last summer and summers before. We have taken a seemingly insurmountable lead over our rivals and whittled it away to the point that the league is now very much 50/50 (and that might be generous- god knows how much of a hammering our confidence will have taken from the other night).

Paul talked of “when” we win 10IAR, it was revised down to “if” in a more recent article; the generation of domination, does anyone have any faith in that statement?

Lenny’s appointment buried the day we won the treble, Tierney’s sale being announced during the game with Cluj, the leaked transfer meeting minutes, the appointment in the showers with no other candidate interviewed- it’e either amateurish or underhand.

Brendan gave a false impression of how well we are run as a club- that’s to his immense credit. His ability transformed the club and raised the bar. We are back down to the PL staple: Neil, Ronny, TM- all cheap, all middle of the road managers.

You think the opportunity for 10IAR would spur PL on to kick the habit, but alas no, it’s more of the same on offer.

  8. Circling the wagons might not be enough at the Bigotdome in 2 weeks. Christie is playing superbly, yet Morelos has now scored more goals, despite playing fewer minutes. Better start planning our strategy for that game Celtic, because it looks as if we have done precious little of it since getting turned over there last season.

Of course, the better time to have commenced planning would have been the day after, but better late than never?

@SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 15TH AUGUST 2019 9:29 PM

Yes, all Brendan’s fault. What about the guy who was in conflict with him and likely contributed in a large way to his departure? You know, the highest paid guy in our history? Worth every penny if you ask me.

Circling the wagons is fine if the bullets are only coming from outside the wagon. but …

It wasn’t the zombie Board that had an obligation to Celtic shareholders to address issues relating to the 5WA and LNS …etc…

It isnt the zombie Board that screwed Auldheid around over Res. 12.

It wasnt the zombie Board that breached privacy legislation to give our information about fans.

until our Board starts dealing fairly with fans and shareholders…

we dont know if we are locking one enemy out, or locking ourselves in with another (who may or may not be involved with the enemy outside).

Neil Lennon carry’s the can, if they think he’s underperforming he’ll be swatted like a fly, they are all in it together including breaking records for incomings, and outgoings in the transfer window.

How the plan unfolds for the remainder, you can bet your boots was already ‘accounted for.’

The ever increasing bank balance and Tuesday’s flop, puts these ‘elite people’ (copyright NFL) back where we started the summer, with them under the a very sweaty spotlight.

We were betrayed by our club’s dealings with Res 12

We can give that issue continued precedence, against the overwhelming indifference of our support, or we can fight for the 9iar that is available to us.

We all have to make a choice on that

I fervently wish that the appetite was there to make the Ibrox mob and the SFA suffer in the courts but I do not see that appetite shared.

Meantime, there is a league to be won and that is definitely winnable I want us to win it.

So, keep on calling out the custodians for their failures re Res 12 but support the team that has given us 8iar in their quest to reach 9.

  13. SFTB

You, friends of yours, me and friends of mine will sing ourselves hoarse at every Celtic game this season. Our support can only do so much, what really matters is what our custodians, management and players do.

Sadly, truly sadly is that it’s only the support whore playing their part.

Let’s get rid of Paul’s and the boards most bullshit line.

Here is a fact (in capitals for effect)

CELTIC HAVE AN EASY ROUTE TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGES.

they face 4 teams who have greatly smaller resources.

The reason they fail is because they have a piss poor recruitment strategy and a failed Bolton manager in charge.

Celtic supporters seem to think differently. So I’ll say it again.

CELTIC HAVE AN EASY ROUTE TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGES.

It is made difficult (impossible) due to the decisions made by the ‘custodians of the club.

Anybody remember John Reid coming out before a game in front of CP, where the teams arrive and said to those waiting ‘sorry we been shi* lately, we get it , we’ll get better’ – honest he did it. Where the fu** is that this week! It would help. (what was that – were we humped the huns or summit?).
