Topping’s who knew what when?

2675

In his Q&A session with the Daily Record yesterday, outgoing SPFL chairman, Ralph Topping touched on the subject of who knew what when, regarding Rangers slide into liquidation saying:

“There wasn’t one single person ever who envisaged this case happening. You tell me who pointed out that this was going to happen – did you?

“The biggest assumption about the set-up in the SPL would be that you would have Rangers and Celtic playing in it in perpetuity – nobody thought that those two bastions of football would ever be involved in anything like this and nobody flagged it up.”

Well, in October 2011 I knew.  This CQN article from 27 October 2011 notes in very specific detail Rangers were going to liquidate, a phoenix would be created which wanted direct access to the SPL (the top flight at that time).  I got the timing wrong, predicting the phoenix would take place during the season, but to be fair, it later became clear this was Craig Whyte’s plan at the time.

Ralph Topping’s SPL knew too.  Rangers alerted them to the situation that very month.  The SPL spend November, December and January preparing the ground for Rangers administration and liquidation, a period during which a new TV deal was signed.

    Folks

Im pretty confident that Celtic cannot be in the move on camp because, unless some QC can come up with a sound acceptable argument iro UEFA licence in 2011 to show it was honestly granted and kept, if Regan’s head is not on a plate by the AGM, PL’s will be, and I cannot see that happening.

    ——-

I was thinking about the AGM earlier. PL could decide to step down beforehand. I think his position is untenable if nothing is done. Being complicit in this affair whilst wearing a Celtic tie is unforgivable.

share this with your falkirk supporting pal.

maybe then he will realise they were cheated.

  3. The word on the street is……

“Celtic will not do anything about the, hun corruption.”

“Celtic are keeping they’re powder dry.”

“Celtic are taking a long time.”

    ……etc, blah, blah,…..

How long did it take Celtic to replace Ronny, when 30,000 empty seats appeared ?

Ah mean, only an empty park, that’s, 60,000 empty seats and, Celtic’s, PLC billionaires, will assemble a platoon of, Philadelphia lawyers to sort the corruption out, and bring closure to this chapter of, oppression of Celtic supporters.

Now, the above might not work – for two reasons.

    1. Celtic PLC are in this up to they’re necks ?

    2. Celtic supporter base of 2017, really are Scooby Doo’s, who deserve all the shafting that they get ?

    Timdom, will ‘never’ be free…

    Until yeez, sack the PLC.

    …..off-oot.

I would hope we would’nt need to go down that road , personally i dont want to move ,even if it was to the EPL .

Be the best we can be here (obviously sort the SFA and the shambles we find ourselves involved in first)

I fear guys like myself would be priced out of attending Celtic Park if the EPL became a reality .

I’m a patient (gullable maybe) guy , as i posted a few days ago , the review has happened ,Celtic, PL has had time to put their next move together , another week or so waiting does’nt bother me in the slightest…..Rome was’nt built in a day :))

If in the weeks to come and nothing forthcoming from the Club to satisfy the vast majority of supporters happens , then let …..

THEGREENMAN and NEGANON lead the charge ;)

Will Police Scotland be paying our fine for blocking passageways against Linfield?

  6. oh the irony ……….. on so many levels.

    ——————-

The SFA have been charged £4,000 after Scotland fans booed God Save the Queen before their dramatic clash with England.

The Scottish were hit with the FIFA sanctions after the 2-2 draw at Hampden against the Auld Enemy, the BBC reports.

It’s the third time Scotland have been fined by world football’s governing body in the past 12 months.

The SFA were charged £16,000 for a poppy display on the team shirts during the last England clash at Wembley in November 2016.

Hampden chiefs were also fined £4,000 for a delayed kick-off against Slovenia in March.

Thanks for that, I did bring up the cup final, but not in the detail you have supplied, his response was that Falkirk would never get to lift the cup from 2009 and that this was all ruining Scottish football and we have to move on.

I know you know this but can I clarify for anyone who has any doubt, he is not my pal!!!

    Hail Hail

    TD67…

your assertion that the Board will only make a statement when it’s ready…..well we’re still waiting on one condemning the vile abuse directed at Sinky and the attempted assault on Broony….what exactly are they waiting for….one from the FTSFA/FTSPFL….the players’ union….before the can respond….gies a brek ;-))

  11. Breaking news……………………

Celtic Board have resigned en masse – now what?

  12. Just noticed this line from the Q&A posted earlier:

ROD McKENZIE: “It would be fair to observe that Celtic are one of the clubs who, since the Supreme Court decision, has called for a review.

So, it would appear that we are not paddling our own canoe here.

Wanted to let you know that your pal, Stuart, put on a GREAT show last night. So much fun!

At one point, they invited about 50 people up on the stage to dance …. I was too far back to go up (okay … I am too old! ) … otherwise, I would have said hello for you. but, next time you are chatting with them, please tell them that I thought they were terrific! And the young singer that I mentioned who was opening … she’s about 4 foot, and must weigh 80 lbs… a tiny slip of a thing, in this huge concert hall … but she had the whole place captivated ! absolutely spellbinding in person!.

forgive me cqn for sounding like i praise him but at least murray came clean and admitted the ebt strategy was related to pitch performance

  17. Q: If there was another insolvency event at Ibrox would that be considered as a first or second offence?

ROD McKENZIE: “Second. As it stands. There is a time period between insolvency events which I think is five years. So it might not now be 25 points. I think it is a five-year period between, and if you have a further insolvency event within the five year period then you get a further 25 point deduction. At Rangers in 2011 was the administration but they went into liquidation in 2012. We are just still within the five year period.”

What can you even say about that answer

  18. mike in toronto on

    Doc @ 4:50 ….

Nice idea, but I dont think that is too likely to happen …

BRTH can probably confirm that administrative law principles (dealing with tribunals, etc.) are pretty consistent among the commonwealth countries ….

a basis principle is that a party cannot be involved in deciding a case in which he or she has an interest …. which would mean that PL would not be able to hear the appeal, if the outcome of that would impact Celtic …

this assumes that the zombies would object to him sitting on any such appeal … which is as sure to happen as God making little green apples …

  19. I’vehadtochangemyname@5:40pm

    Just stating the bleedin’ obvious!
