TURNBULL MYSTERY SOLVED

NEW Bhoy David Turnbull was missing from the Celtic squad that arrived Austria last night for their pre-season camp.

There was no sign of Australian midfielder Tom Rogic, either, but it was the no-show from the 19-year-old, bought from Motherwell for £3.25million last week, that was the main talking point among Hoops fans.

Turnbull was left at home as he was sent south for a rigorous second scan with the champions leaving nothing to chance with their only summer recruit so far.

Club chiefs are confident the process will be a formality and want the Scotland Under-21 international to catch up with his new team-mates as quickly as possible.

Rogic, meanwhile, has yet to take part in full pre-season training as he continues to battle for full fitness.

He struggled in the second half of the season after returning with a knee injury following duty with his country in the Asia Cup.

The skilful 26-year-old is now a doubt for the Champions League opening qualifier against FK Sarajevo in a fortnight.

Rogic reported back to Lennoxtown last week, but didn’t take part in full work-outs as the champions eased him back into their early preparations.

However, Neil Lennon has insisted skipper Scott Brown will be fit for Europe after recovering from the toe injury he sustained in the 3-0 title-clinching triumph over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on May 4.

The Hoops boss admitted the midfield dynamo had seen a specialist on Thursday and had been given the green light to start training.
