UnCommons Moneyball gem

857

Someone made the point to me over the weekend, 30 goals, and counting, from midfield, rivals 53 from Henrik Larsson as a central striker.  It is an unnecessary burden to compare Kris Commons to Celtic’s greatest player in four decades, even Henrik couldn’t compare to the memory of Henrik, but the history books will show for decades to come, Kris Commons is a rare gem, a Celtic player for the ages.

He’s the definition of a Moneyball player, he’s a great multiple Player of the Year and he’s ours.

Enjoy watching him.

  1. Evening all

Just saw 2nd half of Liverpool game and am sorry they didn’t win- if you can’t hold a 3 goal lead at Crystal Palace ( fantastic supporters) with 12 to go or so then you aren’t good enough to win anything. Whether City are good enough we shall soon find out.

I would like to see the Reds continue their improvement next season but I wonder if they will. They have surprised teams thus season but that trick can only be played so many times. Title 19 seems quite far away to me.

Makes me glad I’m a Celtic fan – oh, and didn’t we beat Liverpool this season with a reserve team anyway?

Right bed – hopefully able to return to

    work tomorrow.

  2. KRIS COMMONS last night admitted he hopes Celtic buy back Gary Hooper from Norwich City.

The 30-goal midfielder would welcome the return of the striker who quit the Parkhead outfit last summer to join the Carrow Road club in a £5million deal.

However, Hooper, who netted 63 league goals in three seasons with the SPFL champions after joining from Scunthorpe for £2.4million in 2010, has been axed by caretaker boss Neil Adams.

The 26-year-old frontman was ditched from the side that drew 0-0 with Chelsea at the weekend.

Norwich are now favourites to join Cardiff City and Fulham in the Championship and there has been speculation of a clear-out at the Anglian outfit.

Commons said: “In an ideal world, I would like to get Hoops back to Celtic.

“I had a very strong relationship with him on the park.

“Undoubtedly, he is one of the best players I have ever performed alongside.

“I don’t think it is totally unrealistic that we could get him back one day.

“Obviously, Lionel Messi would be perfect, but I would like us to bring back Hoops!

“Genuinely, I think it would be magic to have him in our side again.

“In an attacking sense, he is superb. Look at the amount of goals he scored, his movement and his link-up play was second to none.

“He’s a top player and that’s probably why he was lured to the Premier League.”

Commons added: “I’ve played alongside a lot of technically-gifted players at Celtic and Virgil van Dijk has been especially outstanding since arriving from Dutch football in the summer. There is a little doubt he is a top centre-half.

“I also enjoyed teaming up with the likes of Victor Wanyama and Kelvin Wilson while Fraser Forster is an excellent goalkeeper.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play with a lot of superb players at Celtic.

“And Hoops is right up there with the best of them. It would be great if he returned.”

turkeybhoy- did you see Hooper’s effort in a Celtic jersey in his last 6 months ? No thanks ,move on.

Bada,I did,and my opinion totally differs from you.6 months without trying?.So he must have scored 30 goals in the 1st 3 months!!!!!.Or he scored 30 goals in the whole season “Without trying”Some going that.

What a game at Seljurst Park! The Palace fans went through the Green Brigade song bookmand sang there hearts out for 95 minutes. They deserved to get somethingmout of the game. My heart goes out to Liverpool and their fans. Liverpool played teally well hoing forward but their touch just wasn’t in tonight. They created so many chances but could only take three when they could have had about seven goals. It all went wrong when Brendan Rogers made his substitutions. Sterling and Sturridge should never have been taken off.

I hope they still do it.

Sorry for Liverpool, but maybe The Villa can do them a turn on Wednesday.

Stevie Gerrard deserves a league winners medal, but might have to wait until Liverpool buy a couple of center-backs – they two were mince. Don’t fancy Sturridge either – notwithstanding his scoring record this year.

Re the Sevco EGM – I was talking about that earlier. If the ring-fencing of 1/2 million is allowed they are immediately and terminally feked. Judge may not allow that – part of his reasoning for denying the bid the last time was that ring-fencing was predjudicial to the company continuing to trade as a going concern. Same argument could, in theory, apply here.

However, it is only a matter of time no matter what happens this evening, or tomorrow.

    Which is nice :-)

Karma a great thing, wasn’t in tears when he cheated the Africans out the last WC.

    ===================================

Did he not save the ball on the line with his hand at the last kick, got sent off, and Ghana (?) missed the pen?

Did he not do EXACTLY what you would want any Celt to do in the QF of the CL when 1 up against Barca in the last second?

    ‘Cheating’?

‘Football’, as far as anyone who’s ever kicked a ball might contend.

Cheating is £300 million of wages on the park and £200 million in turnover.

Luis Suarez is a livewire, fiery, oft-uncontrollable scrapper of a player with flurries of genius in his boots. He’ll commit 100% to the cause – as displayed in your handball offense, in his wayward adventures in racist lingo and in-game snacking.

Brendan Rogers wrastled the best out of him this season and nealrty nicked the title. A handful, but I’d have him in my team any day.

Yea, I read that also last week, when, again there was speculation that they would opt for it before the Pars’ game.

With them, of course, nothing is as it seems and I don’t believe they are as haphazard as they appear.

Bumbling Sally is part of the plan.

Way, way back, when Whyte came in, I likened them to The Producers and Bialystock and Bloom.

Nothing since has knocked that thought out of my head.

It was all about getting the Ticketus, or whoever’s money back, clearing the deck and phoenixing squeaky clean.

GAS(c.acknowledged) and Gough are the final piece in the scam……aided and abetted by The SFA, SPL/SPFL/ UEFA and FIFA.
