UnCommons Moneyball gem

857

Someone made the point to me over the weekend, 30 goals, and counting, from midfield, rivals 53 from Henrik Larsson as a central striker.  It is an unnecessary burden to compare Kris Commons to Celtic’s greatest player in four decades, even Henrik couldn’t compare to the memory of Henrik, but the history books will show for decades to come, Kris Commons is a rare gem, a Celtic player for the ages.

He’s the definition of a Moneyball player, he’s a great multiple Player of the Year and he’s ours.

Enjoy watching him.

Issue 20 of CQN Magazine, CQLisboN is out and enjoying great reviews. You can check it out here, for free, now….

Chris Graham, a spokesman for the Union of Fans conglomerate which incorporates the Rangers Supporters Trust, the Rangers Supporters Association and the Rangers Supporters Assembly, as well as other groups such as the Blue Order, Sons of Struth and Union Bears, believes that the initiative will succeed and claimed that the club has so far sold a mere 2,000 books for 2014/15.

  7. Imran Ahmad will be back in court tomorrow for another attempt to ring fence his 500,000 pounds claim for bonuses he is due.

(Does 500,000 sound more than half a million? I think maybe 500,000 as using the word half diminishes the appearance of the amount)

The judge wouldn’t allow it last time, but circumstances appear to have changed and the undead are in danger of losing their heads in the short term.

The rumour receiving most attention at the moment is that they have only shifted 2,000 season tickets.

    Hmmmm

2,000 ST at say 300 pounds each comes to around 600,000.

That would leave maybe 100,000 as working capital.

In other words they are in a right royal pickle.

    Here comes the judge.

  8. And today’s CQN accounting term is

    ESCROW ACCOUNT

    From the financial dictionary

    escrow account

    (1) A separate bank account for keeping money that is the property of others. Attorneys and real estate agents are required to keep escrow accounts for client money and not commingle client money with their own funds.(2) An accounting entry by a mortgage lender showing the amount on hand from the borrower’s monthly budget loan payments to pay real estate taxes and insurance when those bills become due.

    1. Of course we’re EPL fodder, how can we compete with the money magnets such as Hull, Cardiff and Norwich with their Sky financial doping?

Kris has had fantastic season, 30(+) goals is certainly very impressive, don’t agree with those who believe he’s slow, what Kris lacks in overall pace he makes up through a super quick footballing brain and lightening over that crucial 5 metres.

Yet of course it’s his superb technique that brings the dividends.

Just finished reading back, great stories from gg and saint stivs.

saint stivs, Paddy and Mamie Higgins were much mentioned in my Nana and Granda’s house in the Port many years ago, Bay Street, Bouverie and Highholm Street, I think I can remember going to a game in the old enclosure with them all in the late 60’s or early 70’s against Clyde, Harry Hood was playing for Clyde is about the only thing I can remember.

My Nana I think was a good friend of Mamie’s before they went to the States, unfortunately my folks didn’t venture much further than Weymss Bay, Inverkip or the occasional exotic day out to Rothesay or the classic Hibs bus trip to Stevenston where when it was time to head back to the Port at night we had to take the bus to the pubs to round up all the men.

  23. Hooper?

    Na, not for me.

I’ve never been a fan of bringing people back to the club once they’ve left – players, managers, plant-waterers or the guy that irons the corner flags

    Once they’re gone, they’re gone

In fact, once that fox had left the pitch at the Killie game all those years ago, I said I hoped it never set paw in Celtic Park again – thankfully it didn’t. It had good movement but it’s positional sense was rubbish

  24. Yesterday, according to the DR, KM had “struck a deal with Rangers.”

Today in DR it’s now “rumours.”

A day is a long time in the MSM when you talk crap.

  25. One of Celtic’s finest players signed twice: wee Bertie. It was his second coming that was the more productive. I would be delighted to see Gary Hooper donning the jersey once again. Whether he could help the team emulate what wee Bertie’s side achieve is, of course, another matter altogether.

  26. Dexter,

I don’t remember MON having too much faith in Lubo for playing in Europe. I wonder if it had to do with pace. I wonder if the same applies to Kris Commons against the very best we meet in the CL.
