    Not sure Hayes was out of position, maybe could have adjusted his body shape but would probably have lost the header anyway. Big Jozo was day dreaming in the middle and the split second cost us.

    There were only two Celtic players in that Scotland line up against the Czech Republic on October 9th 2010, Both defenders, Stephen McManus and Gary Caldwell. Barry Robson only got on for the last five minutes. Levein decided not to start the “in form” Kenny Miller who was playing for Rangers by then, he only got 15 minutes on the park. There have been some almighty lows with Scotland but that was the lowest…. I feel sorry for folk from Dunfermline. And not that I´m a huge Scotland fan, I really amn´t! Maybe because they never ever did that well and my da was always panning them. The England 2 Scotland 3 1967 match was overshadowed by events in Lisbon . Yes, Scotland were knocking the ball about that day against the world champs but England were down to 10 men practically. And when was there ever a Scotland team with so many Celtic players in it like on that day? Levein though epitomises what is lacking in our game. I could say a love for the game but I would settle for respect for the game. An ex Dunfermline boss said it ” Football without supporters is nothing”

    What have we learned after 180 minutes of football …

     

     

     

    Main point is that Valencia are nothing special.

     

     

    Tidy and compact but very limited and prone to mistakes.

     

     

     

    Second point is that SB’s head has gone.

     

     

    His legs seem to have returned but his confidence and capacity for the game have collapsed. At times during the first half substitution would have been a blessing.

    Very good performance, spoiled by a partial referee. Although Hayes was unable to block the cross in for the goal, he played very well overall. Simunovic and Boyata were ball-watching, and did not track the runner. Ajer was majestic. Would have thought Weah for Burke was a better option, but I’m not the manager. A bit of pride restored, so onwards to Sunday. HH

    That was a good away preformance. Bain was very good, made some very good saves and mixed his passing up. His style of play suites the system far better.

     

     

    Hayes done very well all night long, still a step or two down from Kt. boyata may be a good defender but i will not miss his poor passing.

     

    Ajer is 20 years old and is only gonna get better with games. a very good preformance tonight. Somunivic had one of his best games for us, could have been more alert at goal, or maybe i am being a little harsh. Tlojan was doing ok till sending off, shame as He looked to build confidence.

     

     

    Forrest worked hard and done just fine. Was surprised He came off tbh. Christie, brown and mcgregor all done a good job at smothering the midfield pressing and defending. Olli worked hard but final decisions and touches let him down.

     

     

    Brenden rodgers continued with passing from the back but it was very clear the ball was moving up the park quicker and was not always to feet (being and beyond), we seemed a little deeper which left less space for us to attack. there was a few longer balls which led to celtic picking up the second ball causing problems until the sending off.

     

     

    Essentially when we play against the big boys from the big leagues we need to adopt a more defending approach to stop our midfield and backline from being stretched and so longer as we have pace middle to front we will always have the chance a few chances

    Just checked on the fingers – Wiki says he lost his thumb and index finger in an explosion. Losing the thumb in particular makes his stunts even more remarkable !!

    FFS I’ve just had a text from my son to say that the Irish pub he’s been in since the end of the game has been overrun with theses fascist bastard cops and they have pummeled everyone including my bhoy. They’ve lashed out at old guys just sitting on benches having a pint . My son fell and was surrounded by the bastards and he’s taking a beating and had to stagger away back to his hotel.

     

    He said that there was not trouble all night and the cops actually watched them doing a big huddle etc just a few moments earlier.

     

     

     

    He’s just tested me to say that he’s made it back to his hotel.

     

     

    I had to go through this when he went to Amsterdam. I’m getting to old for this…..
