Tom English on BBC tonight has been mentione,d to be honest Packie Bonner was just as bad, over the top criticism of the defence, no mention of playing for 10 men for so long, just nit picking to earn his next pay cheque.
Packie spoke of ‘the great defenders in his day’, you would think he and others never lost a goal, two words Packie, Partizan Belgrade.
I lost my respect for him tonight.

Well done Celtic.
Special mention Jonny Hayes, ran his heart out, should be keeping guys like this.
JF hooked 2 games in a row, need to stop assuming a place without the effort.
Game lost at Celtic Park. Cant say I’m too worried.

Anyway, good performance this evening.
Johnny Hayes finally looks as if he believes he can be a proper Celtic player, rather than a squad member.
A few positives to take from this evening.

Before the game I honestly didn’t think we would recover from losing 2-0 at home to actually win the tie.
I was just hoping that we put on a brave & convincing performance to help restore some pride from us & some confidence in the players & coaches.
Brendan’s remark at the end that this “was probably my proudest moment as manager of Celtic” really tells us all that he & the players restored some of the confidence they had knocked out of them last week.
I really admire how the team reacts to apparent setbacks. Very professional.
That result before the break & since then we’ve gone on a domestic run of 8 wins & no goals conceded.
This performance tonight ranks with that.
Heroes all over the field for us tonight, but special mention in dispatches to Ajer, Bain & Hayes.
I thought she was joking at first…………… Then I saw her face

Best performance in Europe since we beat Leipzig
Never a 2nd booking IMO
The good thing is we will be fresh for every game now and will win the treble treble
The thing for us old yin’s is to try and equal the lions and I know it’s hard but deep down I know we will eventually drive bit just hope I am still here to celebrate it

It’s a pity BR didn’t set the team up like this for the first leg. And he hope he does that in the future when we play good teams rather than thinking we can blow them away with attacking football.

No disgrace to lose 0-1 to Marcelino´s men. Safe journey home for all Hoops fans.
How much longer will the gutless scottish sports media give a platform to Mr Craig Levein to lecture to us? The most embarrassing day of my life was when he fielded a Scotland team with no forwards.

Question
Hayes done well tonight
Kieran is allegedly due back on Sunday
So
Should Johnny replace Scott Sinclair and play in front of the in-consistent Scott ??

Quote from Packy Bonner from BBC online just to counter whatever else he said.
“Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound
I think Celtic will take a little bit of heart from this one. Much, much better structure to the team, much better all-round performance. They’ve kept the ball well, but they also defended quite well. They’ve been so, so unlucky to go down to 10 men.”
“Too many times, if James is not the star man, we dismiss his achievements.”
Totally agree with this re James, he looked knackered when he went off tonight.

What have we learned after 180 minutes of football …
Main point is that Valencia are nothing special.
Tidy and compact but very limited and prone to mistakes.
Second point is that SB’s head has gone.
His legs seem to have returned but his confidence and capacity for the game have collapsed. At times during the first half substitution would have been a blessing.
RC was a wasted shirt for 165 of the 180 minutes.
Played with L plates and a youth team attitude.
BR needs to up his Euro game substantially.
Substitutes were a huge wasted opportunity.
TW not coming on was a particular failure.
Putting on MJ was self indulgent in the extreme.
Finally PL needs to go — we are playing at a level he cannot support or develop.
Plus he gets paid too much.
MadMitch on
Not sure how this will all play out but the ref seemed to have an agenda plus they had some on-field football intelligence.
JT is on a yellow card so they put pressure on him until he makes a mistake.
Their CB is on a yellow and we leave it at that.

Perhaps, however he has never been a back tracking tackler in my view, has had a good period recently but
for me in a game like tonight I expected him to be more of a threat.
All about opinions i guess.
Irrespective, delighted with performance and more importantly BR seemed really pleased and encouraged.

Interesting to see what team we put on the park for our next Euro game?
Huge change is needed but we seem to have a bad case of the May’s — got an issue then don’t fix it just kick the can down the road.

Well played Celtic. I thought we were excellent tonight. Up till the sending-off we were by far the better team. After the sending off I thought they would overwhelm us, but they didn’t.
Look at the relief on the Valencia players’ faces when they scored.

First time in BR’s tenure that I think the oft-repeated phrase ‘we’ll learn from it’ could accurately be used.
Jonny Hayes played with such heart, application and energy in sad contrast to Izzie last week. Ironic of course that he was caught out for the goal.
Bain was ‘braw’
Ajer was Nordic god like
Jozo was excellent.
Boyatta was often excellent, but occasionally bomb scare ish!
So the much anticipated sieve failed to materialise. Which is always good.
Couldn’t understand the thinking of taking off the sprightly James F yet keeping on the knackered Ollie B
Lots to be v positive about.

JF created the chances for Ollie Burke and Johnny Hayes tonight. Too many times, if James is not the star man, we dismiss his achievements.
James was front runner for Scottish POTY until last month when Callum overtook him.
We aspire to be the ICT of the Europa league.
But, don’t be too down hearted, Johnny Hayes had a right good game, and he certainly did.
