Watching players on the edge

1018

I like watching a professional perform on the edge. We watched Anthony Stokes do just that at the Cup Final, where despite two superb goals from Gary Hooper, he was clearly head and shoulders above everyone else on the field. This has not always been the way for Anthony, so has too often failed to command a starting place, and live up to the form he promised all those years ago at Falkirk.

Celtic have put a contract in front of him but it will be considerably lighter than the contract Hooper has no intentions of signing. It’s very much up to Anthony now. Deliver and the riches will follow. Don’t bet against him.

Only just catching up on the somewhat demeaning promotion of a football club hiring a new team bus. Every time I see the coach/manager at that club, buses, or to be more precise, Blakey, from On the Buses comes to mind. These people lend themselves to parody so unselfishly.

Coach/Manager

Inspector Blakey

The fascinating part is, only one of the two above was trying to be ridiculous. You enjoy another day of being a Celtic fan.

Rod Stewart’s appearance, and Celtic song and plug seems to have upset the inmates on Fallow Fallow.

I doubt CW even thought of a sell on clause, all he wanted was as much as he could get up front.

It was the court of law that got me, they are even thicker than I gave them credit for.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow, seems like an eternity since the cup final.

  6. Hi folks,

Need a bit of help. Trying to track down a friend of mind(lost his number). I’m hopeful someone on here will know him. Initials are T MC F. Gourock native but Greenock Celtic man and lived in the Port with his good lady (port girl) and 2 kids (they will be a bit older now). Not spoke for a few years since he was last in Belfast. Spent time in Jersey also. Any help appreciated. On phone so will be in and out of the blog.

Lost touch with him but worked with me in the ESJ at Parkhead in the day. We spent a week on detached duty in Aberdeen,a lot of oil workers had temporarily been laid off. John obviously a Bhoy was a hoot, one night he tried to climb up a drainpipe to get into the digs we were staying in. Another night he tried to through a Lizzie Rug, celebrating her 77 jubilee out of the digs window, what a week that was…:) And the Tic were playing at Pittodrie in the Cup midweek, went to extra time and we won on Pens. The Bear scored the first but due to the copious amounts of bevvy consumed that week thanks to expenses from ESJ the rest is a blur…:) The deid club beat us in the Final that year…83, 84 or 85, can’t remember…:)

  9. Stating the obvious….SEVCO will be going into administration……repeatedly. Their covenant is well and truly broken.

During this time the infrastructure of the bigot dome will continue to deteriorate (holes in the roof anyone?) to the extent that if they ever make it back to the top flight of Sottish football most of their stadium will require so much repair UEFA will not allow European football to be played there anyway.

They’re finished. The establishment will just have to find a new team to support or accept Celtic……in the natural order of things you understand….hehehehe

God…..its a remarkable time to be a Tim…..life is is truly sweet and we are blessed.

  10. A wee request of CQN.

The Wheels on the Bus obviously go round and round. :))

My Olde workmate, just came back frae a holiday and I commented you have to see the Bus!!!!

Anyways, without going back through all the CQN pages….

Any links to the internals of Satans BusMan would be really appreciated.

I don’t think even Green would have had the brass neck to go after any sell on fee. Mind you if they do I’d imagine Hector would have something to say not to mention the insolvency authorities.

I’ve repeatedly stated that Sevco are finished. Unless they find a sugar daddy. Dave KIng won’t fit that bill. It always surprises me that other Cqn,rs write that they are on 2 yrs away from the Spl and winning trophies. NO chance.

You can get BT Sport on your PC also, don’t need SKY…

  15. They will be back soon enough.

Just take last season as an example of the assistance they got from the refs, that will be cranked up the more they need it.

Even if they go bust again, the powers will break all the rules again for them, mark my words.

  16. Thanks Lennybhoy,

Would be hopeful someone would know T. Massive Tommy Burns fan, nearly sure guys in his local bought him a kilie top when he went there. His brother J is in the Church.

  18. The SFA won’t deal with the corrupt Sevco, neither will UEFA , FIFA or MSM.

I reckon Canamalar has the right idea.

Canvas Celtic shareholders to pressure the board to pursue our losses .

One day, even the powers are going to say: “Yous are just a bunch of spivs trying to bleed money out of bears and you care not a jot for what was once the second most important institution in Scotland, so get lost.”

And the powers would be correct.

Maybe some real start-up would try to resurrect the spirit using jumpers for goal posts in some public park or pub league, but the Brox would be sold to line spivs’ pockets and all but the hardiest would give up the ghost. Who knows? Maybe a decent club would emerge.

  20. Hrvatski Jim on

Don’t be jealous of Rangers having a nice bus to travel round Scotland. Let their players get used to it. Let our players get used to jets to travel round Europe.

  21. Can someone explain to me how they can sign players when under an embargo, this is more evidence of the help sevco are getting from the SFA

  22. It’s ironic I know, probably would only happen in this great wee country, but guess what team has made the most signings so far?

Give u a clue, they have a transfer embargo ?

It’s like that auld joke , when is a transfer ban not a transfer ban?
