We might begin looking like a team on Saturday

852

I’m sure Ronny Deila has used the international break to take in as many scouting games as possible, but he’ll be keen to see his players return to Lennoxtown, fit and available for selection.

Adam Matthews spoke to Celtic media on possibly returning for Saturday’s game against Ross County.  Having not played since August he’ll be well short of match fitness but his presence is badly needed.  We have a must-win Europa League game against Astra next week, with the shape of the team looking so haphazard at the moment it’s crucial we get a benefit of a recognised right back.  Adam needs an hour on Saturday.

Now that central mid is looking solid with Brown and Johansen, the addition of Matthews and McGregor will benefit the right, while allowing Mubarak to fit into his more natural position on the left.  We might begin looking like a team.  Adam also has the engine to play the football Ronny is keen on.

The only question remains how to get our Europa League-eligible strikers looking the part – and that’s not a suggestion to drop John Guidetti on Saturday!

  1. With regards to Astra – should we presume Scepovic will be preferred to Stokes, then Scepovic MUST play ALONGSIDE Guidetti on Saturday.

Deila needs to figure out one formation for SPL and his preferred for Europe.

On the evidence so far the SPL one is with 2 (or 3) up front.

Darnell Fisher looks to be a better prospect than Adam Matthews (whose passing ratio in Europe must be in the 60’s percentage wise) is he ready to be pushed yet?

  2. corkcelt,

The art of a reverse podium is vastly undervalued by some.

Some people are forgetting young Darnell Fisher, who,s now fit and been on the bench

recently never had a bad game and is a good crosser,I assume Lustig is still not fit,

Delia just talks crap all the time does not learn from mistakes, after playing a weak team at inverness he still changed the team completely again ,under o,neil we played our best side in games after europe and we won almost all of them, especially when the Spl forced us to play the dead cheats 2 days after the semi final and we still gave them a thrashing, bet the twat plays Berget on saturday

Adam Matthews performance against Barca still stands out like a beacon.Him and Lustig have been sorely missed.

I’d start with Scepovic- he is the future as it stands, not Guidetti. We have to start giving him ammunition.

Idle tittle tattle – Leigh is on £18,000 a week i hear, but enjoys a gamble too much apparently. The footballer’s curse. Is he lacking focus?

I do Iike the October break, keeps me chilled

I see BSR and a few others are already fearful of our visit to Dingwall with our current shape of team.

Not saying I disagree with them.

  16. Ol’Tim,

I should be able to get in around three if you’re going to be there. Are you going up to the Ross County game?

I hope Ronny has learned the lesson of Inverness, our league is our priority now, not the Europa Cup. At least it is in my mind. I hope he is focused on putting out his strongest team, because he ain’t going to get an easy game up there and his results to games ratio is not erotic reading.

Has Ronny not been in Spain on holiday for the last week?

Has Lustig not sub/played for Sweden during this break?

    Brown—-Commons—-Wakaso

    ———-Scepovic……….

Wakaso could be replaced by Stokes and Kayal by Bitton. Scepovic has to play as he needs time on the pitch to start scoring (which he will) as we need him in Europe. His movement is great, his teammates need to start feeding him the ball. It’s hard on Guidetti but he can come on in the second half and he’ll have plenty of game time the coming months.

Scepovic and deffo guidetti have both made some lovely runs that have gone unnoticed or unrequited by their teammates.

  25. kitalba @13.09hrs,

While I accept your view that the league is our priority, respectfully I disagree although I’m sure that RD & JC would agree.

Hopefully better players, fitter players, RD getting a reality check will take care of that. The upcoming inevitable winter injuries will surely impact more on teams with less of a squad.

The Europa Cup may be dull at the moment, but if we progress the potential for some big guns and the possibility of a run can excite the fans in a fashion that our domestic league cannot do.

Could the monotony of our domestic game have been a factor for NFL’s decision. Bolton does seem a strange choice, but it is certainly a new challenge.

    HH to you.
