Weeoscar4life Glasgow quiz night

893

The good people running the weeoscar4life campaign have been in touch and asked me to pass on information regarding the appeal and forthcoming quiz night in Glasgow later this month:

“As many of you will be aware the weeoscar4life campaign team have recently been involved in raising the profile of a wee 3 year old boy from Belfast called Oscar. Many of you have kindly supported this initiative by purchasing CQN badges and wee Oscar wristbands and taking part in the “Small Change for US, Big Change for Oscar campaign”, with the money raised all going towards getting Oscar the treatment that he so desperately needs.

The next event that we have organised to help raise the £250,000 required for Oscar’s treatment is a quiz night. This will take place on the 29th September in The Phoenix (Previously Eastenders) on the Gallowgate with a 7pm start.

The quiz will be made up of a variety of questions, 50% Celtic related and 50% general knowledge. There will be raffle prizes and we also hope to have some live music after the quiz has finished.

Tickets are priced at £5 and you can buy as many as you wish for friends and family so long as they are over 18. Don’t worry if you aren’t able to make up a team of 4/5 as we will arrange you into teams before the event. We hope to be able to offer a ‘print at home’ ticket service so that you would be able to simply bring your tickets on the night.

Until then if you can contact us at weeoscar4life@gmail.com then Wecan begin to allocate spaces to those who have expressed an interest.

Thank you once again for your continued support.”

It is sure to be a fantastic night so please book early.

You can continue to read CQN Magazine FOR FREE, or can subscribe for £10 or £20 and our sponsor, Executive Shaving, who offer an enormous range of grooming products, are offering readers a £20 voucher for all £30 CQN Magazine subscribers.

  1. The reason nothing was done, as we all know, is because too many in the upper echelons of the game were involved.

It was universally accepted by all, except those from the Dark Side that nothing would be done to punish Oldclub until they were in liquidation.

No one was prepared to fire the fatal bullet, so a combination of HMRC and Whyte did the deed.

Did they think that UEFA would meekly accept a club cheating at home and abroad on such a scale?

Thanks for the info on the new club doctor.

If you should have the chance to speak to him in the near future please give him my regards.

  3. Greene confuses the legality of EBTs with the dual contract issue. This refers to Rangers time as an SPL club so who but the SPL can investigate, particulary as that time in the SPL was part of the history Greene claims he bought?

It should have been investigated ages ago but then Greene would have had no SPL club to buy and the SFA not the SPL should have instigated proceedings and not played the court of appeal card, that could have gone to CaS.

Complete fup by the SFA but that does not mean dual contracts should not be investigated and findings published.

  4. In one respect he’s almost right. Rangers FC still haven’t officially been liquidated, so really it should be Duff & Phelps going along. This will force the issue as to whether the titles can or can’t be passed to a new company. We all know they can’t, the trophies can but purely for ownership of the physical object.

  5. Totally, and utterly incredible duplicity by Sevco who applied for and accepted the oldco licence on the basis, they would be responsible for any sanctions on EBT’s and dual contracts.

Cheating, Filthy, Manky people to the end who surely have sealed their own fate.

    FIFA must step in now.

  6. The more I read of that statement the more Pythonesque it becomes. Surely even the most brassnecked of hun would cringe in embarassment at it ? Mebbe not.

Ogilvie Regan and Doncaster will be furious! exposed again as double dealers and purveyors of spin will the MSM demand the truth?

Chuck is right an independant enquiry now required into how our game is being run

note the bit about the motives of unamed clubs.

“The decision we have taken has not been taken lightly. There are powerful representatives from Clubs within the SPL – not all of them by any means – who appear hell bent on inflicting as much damage on Rangers as possible.

    and

“Rangers was not the only Club in Scotland to use EBTs yet nothing was done and little has been heard about it.

This guy is a public menace.

  10. Is Charles Green on the sauce? That rant reads like Romanov at his most bizarre.

However, this is what happens when you try to accommodate bullies.

  12. Long time lurker, finally got my password! The ex girlfriend said i spent too much time on the blog and give me the ultimatum to spend more time with her or we break up! Needless to say am single again!!

Any suggestions where best to stay and where will all the hoops fans be meeting?

    Cheers…HH

  13. What a fabulous statement, on so many levels, not least the logic of we broke into your house but left a few things in each room so we shouldn’t be punished then.

This will force the issue as to whether the titles can or can’t be passed to a new company. We all know they can’t, the trophies can but purely for ownership of the physical object.

    ===============================================

Lets just allow them the fantasy that they can indeed ‘own’ sporting titles ‘won’ by another entity – where does that logic lead them? When the sporting titles they ‘bought’ as ‘assets’ are stripped then they can hardly be stripped from a club that no longer owns them, so they’ll have to be stripped from the new owners. That is the logic of their own stupid position.

An other way of looking at this is comparing it to someone who bought goods at an auction or sale of some kind. The goods turn out to have been stolen. Plod comes along and takes them back. No recompense, no warning just hand them over, they are stolen goods.

Either way, if the titles are stripped they are stripped, doesn’t matter who ‘owns’ them.

    Idiots. Absolute idiots.

But he is right as you say, New Rangers should not even have been asked to go along. They are a new club and it has nothing what so ever to do with them.

  15. So when Green and his consortium purchased the assets of oldco they also purchased the history and trophies ‘won’ by that entity?!

What about the huge debts then? Were they included in the deal? No?! Why not?!

    Hunbelievable so it is!

Bit like Nightmare on Elm Street. You get to the end and think everything is sorted but something tells you there is going to be a sequel and the nightmare has to be torn a new one again and again.

Still, they are well on the way to eating themselves up all over again.

Chico once again playing the victim, selling tickets and building up the share issue, all the while making sure the escape pod is fully fuelled and ready to go……..

    Welcome.

You will find that most of the cheaper places are booked out.

    Try budgetplaces.com

I got a room on there, just off the Ramblas, for just over 30 euros for the night, a bit basic, but it has a bed :>)

I would imagine the Ramblas will be full of Tims.

Any Celtic fans manage to pick up tickets for the game outside the stadium on any previous visit to Barcelona?

I believe the only way to secure a Celtic end ticket is via Tam Crook?

  20. The Battered Bunnet on

    Note to Charles Green:

Lord Nimmo Smith and chums are not investigating the legality of EBTs and Rangers’ use thereof.

They are investigating whether or not Rangers complied with the Rules for Registration of Players.

If Rangers properly registered their players, irrespective of the use of EBTs, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

On the other hand…considering the FIFA Rules on the Registration of Players and the parallel rules of the SPL, I think yer feched matey.

  21. Have Celtic appointed a new club doctor yet?

    If so who is he/she?

Hunbelievable logic – Surely they can’t be so bold as to claim not to be the team under investigation while at the same time spitting broken glass when anyone talks about punishing said team for its misdeeds.

Why be bothered about this punishment when its not your team anymore?

Or, if they insist on calling “it” their team, then they should take their punishment like men (and that goes for the women too so as to not appear sexist) .

They cannot have both, and no amount of Hunjiggerrypokery can change that fact.

Do the crime do the time (In SDM’s case quite literally)

Bhoys and Ghirls we are living through one of the biggest sporting scandals of all time and yet another scandalous episode in the history of those who like to call themselves ‘Rangers’.

The new club has picked up where the old club left off and if Sevco go bust they might as well just ‘form a new corporate entity’ and start again.

Time to deal with this farce once and for all.

  24. From SPL website

    SPL announce Commission Hearing

The Scottish Premier League today announced that the independent Commission to inquire into alleged EBT payments and arrangements made by Rangers in relation to players during the period from 2000 until 2011 will sit on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 September.

The hearing will be chaired by Lord Nimmo Smith and will consider submissions from parties on various procedural matters. It will not be a hearing of the merits of the case.

The other members of the independent Commission are Mr Charles Flint QC and Mr Nicholas Stewart QC.
