Weepy incompetent Newco, belligerent Hearts, be Good to each other

808

The SFA’s statement last night clarifies the immediate future of the game, or lack thereof.  No training will be permitted until at least the 10 June and the professional game can start 6 weeks after training.  Without the lockdown being extended, the earliest behind closed doors football game can take place on 22 July.

It would be possible to complete the Premiership by 19 August.  Today’s proposal by the SPFL keeps this option on the table.

The new league season would need to start immediately thereafter, games would almost certainly be played behind closed doors and Uefa would need to delay the start of Champions and Europa League qualification competitions until the last week in August.  I think this is unlikely, but it remains possible.

I understand that Hearts, four points adrift at the bottom, are lashing out in every direction, but they would be better advised to try to win support for league reconstruction than go down the belligerent route.  Maybe Ann Budge should have retained the bonus scheme and avoided all this stress.

Newco’s anger is a pale shadow of what we saw during the Traynor statement years.  It’s all a bit limp for my palette. I like my Newco statements frothing with anger, typed while standing in fermenting urine-soaked shoes with flute music blaring in the background.  Don’t judge me.

Today’s “legal advisor did not deem our Members Resolution as competent” is so weepy all I feel is pity.

This afternoon’s SPFL vote can change only details for Celtic.  The real battle was to make this season Null and Void and our incompetent friends across the city were chased out of town for that suggestion.  Celtic will be champions; nine-in-a-row is ours, whether achieved on the field or after Uefa issue advice to national associations.

It’s also interesting to watch the paranoia triggers.  Our own sufferers’ gas will be at a peep for a while, whereas Newco’s conspiracy theorists were born for these times.  Do not be like any of them, just because the tide goes against you, doesn’t mean The Man is out to get you!  You’re just a little anxious.

I know this is a Terrible Good Friday, but be Good to each other today – and stay indoors all weekend.

None of this really matters to us, if the league resumes in the future we win 9iar, we have sufficient cash to stay afloat. As for the rest well, whichever club in the championship has not voted has stopped much-needed prize money being released to the lower leagues immediately. That club must be loaded 😵 or just daft

  2. Excellent statement by Celtic today,

I would deprive the huns of money for as long as possible,

play the rest of the season when we can,

curtail next season if we have to.

PB-I think we lose out big time.We don’t get to win this league in regulation time,we fans don’t get to see it happen. This is nine n a row and I wanted to be there mate

  4. The Dalglish family have tonight released the following statement to supporters regarding Sir Kenny Dalglish.

Sir Kenny was admitted to hospital on Wednesday April 8 for treatment of an infection which required intravenous antibiotics.

In keeping with current procedures, he was subsequently tested for COVID-19 despite having previously displayed no symptoms of the illness. Unexpectedly, the test result was positive but he remains asymptomatic.

Prior to his admission to hospital, Sir Kenny had chosen to voluntarily self-isolate for longer than the advised period together with his family. He would urge everyone to follow the relevant government and expert guidance in the days and weeks ahead.

He would like to take this opportunity to thank the brilliant NHS staff, whose dedication, bravery and sacrifice should be the focus of the nation’s attention at this extraordinary time.

He would also ask that they are given the space to do their jobs during what is an extremely challenging time for them and that his own family’s privacy is respected.

He looks forward to being home soon. We will provide further updates as and when it is appropriate.

  8. Far too many clubs in Scotland anyway

Probably time for a few to downgrade to Junior ranks at best level

    Slimline Scottish leagues and structures

there are only 3 weeks of our league season left, thats how long it will take to finish the 8 remaining games if we play saturday or sunday then tuesday or wednesday

so the first thing that should be done when football starts again is to play those games, i dont care if it happens in november, and i dont care if it has a slight knock-on effect on the timings of the next 2 or 3 league seasons

it will put this season to bed once and for all

anything else will mean never ending hun comments about it

and no doubt years of legal issues

    just finish it

How do we get all our foreign players back from their countries in time to start training before the restart 🤔

  11. Interesting some of the observations, reactions and recollections of Henrik.

Something however that you rarely hear, but was well known and often voiced in his days at and subsequent to Celtic Park.

Admittedly it really only caught the eye of those of us with a real eye for footballing pedigree and talent. So while the accolades once more echo across our mind’s eyes and our inner ears ring to the melodies of delight at his skill, just remember his weaknesses!

It became obvious to the rest of the world when his limitations eventually prevented him progressing beyond man of the match performances in European football finals and national hero status as he scored belief-defying goals, miraculous assists and peerless team defining performances in the latter stages of world cup finals.

If only he had really believed in his ability, I wonder just how far he could have gone in the game…….I suppose we will never know.

    Hail Hail

    —–

how is that different if the first games that get played are next seasons games or the end of this seasons games

its not, the next games that are played should be the end of this seasons games, whenever that happens

I was disappointed that Henrik never went in goal for the penalty !

Knowing him, he would have saved it.

And if Mr Frimpong was watching, Didier Agathe is your benchmark son.
