What say you now, Mr Bryson?

Scottish Football Association.
Articles of Association.
Powers of the Board of the SFA.
56, (8).

“It [the Board]shall have power to enquire into all and any financial arrangements between recognised football bodies, clubs and players and to cancel any agreement between clubs and players contrary to the Articles and to publish in the public press or otherwise the findings of the Board in this regard and the substance of any and all evidence tendered in such enquiries.”

“It shall have the power

“to enquire into all and any financial arrangements

“between recognised football bodies, clubs and players

“and to cancel any agreement between clubs and players contrary to the Articles”.

While the prolonged HMRC inquiry into Rangers played out in public, the Scottish Football Association had the power to enquire into what was going on and rule accordingly.  They chose not to.

Mr Bryson is the executive charged with this responsibility.  He did nothing.  Then his evidence to the Commission determined the outcome and effectively cleared his earlier inaction. In SFA parlance, this is “heavily conflicted”.

What say you now, Mr Bryson?

It was always rather curious that the SPL convened the Commission, not the SFA, which is the registration body.  Had it been the SFA, the first route of appeal would be to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).  CAS ruled against Mr Bryson’s interpretation of proper registration when the Swiss FA registered Sion players, in line with the documentation submitted, but improperly.

If the SPL takes the matter to CAS it will win.

Celtic, and Celtic fans, cannot do anything alone.  We need to stand with other SPL clubs, or to be more specific, we need to stand with the fans of other SPL clubs in the first instance.  An SPL Fan Group is needed.  More on this later.

  1. Snake Plissken @12:00 might it be that “the length of time” is how long it took to concoct that defence and find a way to word it as acceptable?

Mo matter what LNS says, he refused to look at the chronology and totality of these registrations, which clearly shows the intent to deceive.

  2. Steinreignedsupreme on

    Paul 67 –

It’s going to take pressure to get rid of these people. Corrupt folk like Ogilvie and Bryson don’t stand down. They will never do the honourable thing because they are not honourable people.

They are sleekit and keep a low profile while doing their dirty work.

Ever club in Scotland – bar the usual suspects – should be calling for the removal of these jokers.

  3. In the last few years the club generically referred to as ‘Rangers’ have been involved with two organisations who are not Scotia-centric.

In the first instance Llyods took over from the Murray-friendy HBOS. They wanted their money back and they wanted it asap. The Loyal Cardigan eventually admitted publically that the bank man on the Board was running things; he couldn’t buy any big-name players, and of course the direct result of that was their influence on the Scottish game started to slide. Within a relatively short time Lloyds had ‘forced’ through a buy out from Craig Whyte and they got their money. That bank didn’y give a ‘Criag Whyte’ about what was about to happen next – they just got what they, and their shareholders wanted!

Instance two and the London-centric HMRC enter the scene. They refused to entertain the notion of a CVA which would have saved the now deid club and that club was, as a result of HMRC, liquidated.

So, two non-Scottish organisations result in two ‘wins’ for those two organisations! See a pattern?

You could extend the analogy to the FTTT resulkt when Dr. Poon, whose name suggests to me that she does not come from a long and traditional Scottish family background, was scathing about the evidence forwarded by the representatives of the now deid club. See the pattern?

  4. Scottish FA to host 127th IFAB AGM

    Monday, 04 February 2013

The 127th Annual General Meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB) will take place on Saturday 2 March under the chairmanship of The Scottish FA in Edinburgh.

Amongst the items on the agenda, the IFAB will discuss a clarification to the interpretation of Law 11 – Offside, following proposals developed by FIFA’s Refereeing department and the IFAB technical sub-committee. The technical sub-committee is comprised of the respective Heads of Refereeing and/or technical experts of FIFA and the four British Associations.

Other topics for discussion include the usage of electronic performance monitoring systems; the Dropped Ball (Law 8 – Start and Restart of Play) following a submission by the Danish FA; as well as an update report on Goal-Line Technology following the implementation of two systems at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December 2012.

The IFAB will also discuss its future consultation and decision-making processes, as well as its future structure. The self-reform of the International Football Association Board was a proposal that stemmed from FIFA’s agreement to major reforms of its governance which were presented to the FIFA Executive Committee at the end of March 2012, and subsequently presented at the FIFA Congress in Budapest last May

  5. When I played school football there were Protestant and Catholic schools in the league.

A teacher from one school or other refereed the game. The subs ran the line. Honesty was the watchword. We even lent each other players in the case where a full complement did not turn up.

A player of ours, lent to the opposition, and furious at being sub, took this honesty to new levels and scored a hat-trick for them. Just to get back at the teacher in charge.

Somewhere that has been lost and it has to be rediscovered.

  8. Yesterday after this sham decision I felt sick in the stomach, I woke up this morning feeling the same. Now after Paul’s fine article and copious amounts of omeprazole and the feeling among Celtic fans and fans of other clubs, I am happy to say I am feeling a bit better.

If we can unite the true football fans we may just get the desired results. Orcs punished properly, Ogilvie, Bryson, Doncaster, Regan and Longmuir kicked in to touch. Honest people in charge of the game in Scotland, who will treat every team the same now that would be something worth fighting for. Where do I sign up.

Same here, but all the non denom schools cheated like BILLY OH, while we stuck to the Corinthian spirit, playing on though racked with rickets, callipers and squinty eyes.

Typically they would try and take advantage but fortunately due to the power of prayer and the fact that we had been on Lenten fast for six weeks, our faith seen us emerge in triumph as we stuck together and ate them.

  11. Think we need to be careful calling out individual employees of SFA/SFL etc – even if they have fouled up royally. Don’t want to fall into the ways of FPLG, a la “I demand to know their names’ rant by bringing unwanted outside interest in these guys and some unsavoury incidents happening as a result.

  12. To reassure you I am not for a moment saying that our fans would be involved in this type of thing but I do believe we need to be wary of who we are directing our flak at.

  13. Paul67,

Can’t the SPL just go ahead and strip the titles anyway?

I imagine they would relish any legal challenge to this action.

    Ntassoolla

    That is exactly the point.

If the whole thing was a mere clerical error there was no need for a commission in the first place. The length of time is important in this.

The SFA were up to their necks in this as they allowed this “administrative error” to run for 11 years. Bryson and those within the SFA had ample time for a reinterpretation of the rules to suit an obvious one size fits all get everyone off the hook defense does not sit with the notion that this is a mere clerical error. The length of time it took leaves me and others uneasy given the judgement we have now received given that it is now being presented as not that important really.

  15. The Token Tim on

    Paul67 et al,

We know that fan-power more or less forced the requirement for Sevco to play their football in Div 3 this season.

But was there any concerted effort to combine the fans thoughts – even any communication lines open between different clubs fan bases – to show a solidarity of thought, or was it more due to each set of fans letting their own individual club’s know what they thought?

If the latter, who will lead the way in attempting to open the lines of communication?

If the former, get those communications opened up again asap and let Sevco/SFA/SPL see that once again there is no Timmy Conspiracy, but rather that all the other clubs are aligned against them, once more in unity, in order to see fair play and sporting integrity upheld in this country.

I think the SPL and SFA have finally achieved a low point hitherto unheard of….Rangers fans marched on Hampden in the summer to threaten the powers that be….looks as if they succeeded they are however a minority party now in the grand scheme of things.

As decisions are being msde on the future of the game and any governance thry musy be kept in their place.

I note Charles wants an apology. ….well I apologise for allowing you to cheat me and others for years clearly this was vindicated as being alright…

I apologise for all the cup games you cheated in

I apolgise for expecting justice to be done

I apologise to Manchester, Barcelona, and all the other cities where their fans rioted, urinated in, attacked team buses, sang their bigoted songs in a closed doors games (I mean this was the best of the bestest fans)

I apologise that it’s my fault that the Rangers fsnd need to sing these songs that want me dead

I apologise that they had to spend money they didn’t have

I apologise for the banking crisis that meant they had to actually pay it back

I apologise that tax money is neded fir hospitals schools (Everyone knows they don’t use these)

  17. Esatdio I agree with you except on one small point.

They will not take it to CAS, unless concerted ‘pressure’ is applied………but from where…surely this is not being left to the fans…?

My joke for today is…..THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED HERE …..a public enquiry..!!??

To the grammar police I apologise I’ll proof read before clicking the wrong button:-)

  22. The FA created the laws of the game. The SFA and the other parties were involved pretty early on. FIFA did not exist and were invited to the table. The SFA hold massive sway in world football. Sad but true!

  23. Snake Plissken @12:24 I share your unease. I avoid speculation and try to stick to what might reasonably be deduced or inferred.

The reason for this is that once down that path I am as rabid as the next man.
