What your money did

1537

In recent weeks hundreds of you have contributed to our Mary’s Meals project to build a school kitchen in Malawi for the 1221 pupils who are enrolled at the Kholoni Primary School in Mchinii, and then for the 746 pupils at St Joseph’s Primary in Kasungu.

The £7000 required for the first school reached Mary’s Meals some weeks ago and the building was opened and serving meals yesterday.

Here it is:

We have a lot to do today but there is an excellent chance that the £7000 required for St Joseph’s will be raised and in Mary’s Meals account before 470 of us sit down in the Kerrydale Suite for the CQteN St Patrick’s Day dinner tonight.

Here’s what you’ve done.  You have funded two facilities which between them will feed 1967 children, all of whom live below the UN measure of absolute poverty, in the 17th poorest country in the world.

Most days, for almost all children, this will be their main meal, it will often be their only meal.  As a result, they will attend school in greater numbers, 30% greater, if they are an average Mary’s Meals, Malawi, school.  They will gain a better education and have better opportunities in life.  They will build stronger bodies, more able to resist infection.  Child mortality will fall.

The spirit of Brother Walfrid, of Celtic, is alive within you.  You can get involved here.

See you at the party!

Seville, The Celtic Movement, launches tonight.

“CNN reported that on the day before the game 3% of the earth’s flying population were all headed for Seville and were sporting a Celtic scarf – a statistic that no sector of industry could ignore and which would change the policy of many airlines as a result.”

When you put it like that it’s almost as if the Palestinians were being required to atone for European guilt over the Holocaust.

You think?.Ernie, there are some things I stay well away from.Middle East politics being one.I can see both sides, not just one.I worked in the region for 20 years, worked with many Palestinians, and a more horrible bunch you could never meet, apart from huns.Their behaviour in Jordan when the King gave them shelter was nothing short of disgraceful.Had to forcibly eject them.

    Hail Hail

  9. dont post very often….felt i must tonight.why is there little talk of celtic game.tell you why….to many rubbing each others ego about charity work….done loads of it but wouldnt dream of seeking praise like the clique on here.just remember….loads of people here in glasgow will struggle for a meal tonight.think of that!!!!

    Palestinians good. Jews bad.

Irish good. British bad. Scottish bad.

Got it? If not we will ‘re-educate’ you. History is black and white on here.

Middle Eastern debate on this day? Surely not good.

  11. Unleash Amido tonight if he is available. Play some of our young players.

    Have a good evening CQN.

  12. bournesouprecipe, if we can’t beat Kilmarnock with that line-up there is something wrong!

We’ve had a good degree of success in front of goal down there in recent seasons…

    Kilmarnock 2 – 5 Celtic (Samaras 3, Commons, Baldé)

Kilmarnock 1 – 3 Celtic (Samaras, Ledley, Brown)

    Kilmarnock 0 – 6 Celtic (Hooper 2, Mulgrew 2, Ledley, Loovens)

Kilmarnock 3 – 3 Celtic (Stokes 2, Mulgrew) …when many thought at HT that Lenny was finished!

    Kilmarnock 0 – 2 Celtic (Brown, Commons)

    Kilmarnock 0 – 4 Celtic (Commons 2, Hooper, Stokes)

…and we’ve only lost once in our last 28 visits, but we concede at least one more often than not.

Targets for tonight, in order of importance:

    3 points

    A fine team performance

    Some good player performances

    No injuries or suspensions

    A clean sheet

At least 4 or 5 goals

Those would help to keep us on course for a few more records before the season draws to a close.

  13. Hope someone at theCQN10, do tonight is keeping a list of all them that don’t have fish.

    WE DESERVE TO KNOW.

Hope you all have a great time .

Also hope you all raise lots of money for a great cause.

  14. Never knew CQN was ten years in existence as i only discovered it by accident about three years ago and a day hardly goes by without logging on to get my fix. Congrats to Paul and everyone involved for giving Celtic fans that little bit extra which you never get in the media.

A lot of food to be prepared to-night, have a great one.

You maybe want to think about that for a moment?

  18. Forster; Matthews, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Izaguirre; Brown, Henderson, Johansen, Commons; Stokes, Griffiths

Looks as though Lenny keeping faith with the 4-4-2 diamond that has reaped such huge rewards this and last season. It’s shaping up to be THE Celtic formation (Europe aside, and even then I think he should at least give it a try). It suits players like Izaguirre and Commons, but I still have concerns over Matthews at RB. Good to see Henderson get his chance.

  19. Tamtim- charity nights by it’s very nature needs publicity to work.

Would you grudge the weans in Malawi a meal/s because that is the purpose of tonight – and the months leading up to it – to enable the funding to happen.

People can donate anonymously if they want, and most do. The bhoys and ghirls are celebrating 10 years of Paul’s blog and he used tonight as a vehicle to do some good.

I do not see any grandstanding or ‘look at me’ proclamations. I see people heading out for a good night, excited at the prospect of meeting friends and putting faces to blog names.

Therefore, your timing is rank rotten and seeks to show people in a poor light where I can only see rainbow, rainbow, rainbow.

I can’t afford to go tonight but defend the right of those who do.

Go look in the mirror bud and come back on and apologise to those whose names you seek to blacken.

If you can’t bring yourself to do that then I don’t think I’d want to share a cyber, never mind a real pint!

God bless CQN and all who sail in her.

Me, I’m proud to call them my friends even the ones that dont like me :o), I think their efforts have been excellent and they deserve a pat on the back, remember the Mary’s Meals is just the latest in a very long line of deserving charities thar have been adopted by the clique, I might be exaggerating a wee bit but it cant be far off £1M and 100% donated to the adopted charities in the 10 years the ghuys and ghals have every right to have a wee night out.

Trick being, not everyone at the doo tonight claims to have raised anything and few if any are claiming kudos for their great efforts, from what I’ve read today, people are simply saying well done to all who have made the effort, I’ve no read what you and tamtim appear to have read, maybe you can point it out for me ?

Lets hope Henderson takes his chance tonight.
