Who we are and our values

1097

For some months now, a CQN’er and academic has prepared a project to identify who we, the Celtic support, are in 2014, what our views are, where we come from and how closely our objectives align with the Club.

The project takes the form of a questionnaire, which asks some personal questions, like your political leanings, intentions for the Referendum, faith, education and ethnic heritage.  No sign-up is involved and no identifying information is available.

There are also questions on the Offensive Behaviour Act, as well as the Club’s response to Resolution 12, The Green Brigade and the Living Wage.

The objective is to determine why you support Celtic and whether these reasons are being recognised and served.

I know Celtic have held similar surveys in the past but I’m not aware of a recent academic survey into these questions.  The survey will close on Friday 26th September and results will be reported thereafter.

As with all surveys, the more people who participate the more reflective the results will be, so please 10 minutes to get involved.  You’ll find the survey here.

If you have any questions for the author in relation to the survey please email cqn.survey@orange.fr

Thanks.

Pertaining to the above are allegations made about Aleks Tonev over the weekend.

It’s difficult to see where this one goes if the player says “I didn’t say that” without corroboration either way.  Despite this, the allegation is damaging to Celtic, and to the player, so an internal and public reaction is needed to reiterate the values of the club.

Celtic’s induction process should be clear what is and is not acceptable.

Oh we’ll another day of hard graft beckons. Getting darker every morning now, guess that means the clocks will be changing soon. I’ve never enjoyed leaving home in the morning when it’s dark and returning at night again when it’s dark.

But hey at least I have a job and a home to go to.

Enjoyed reading the blog yesterday, who knows what today’s posts will be like, I’ll be popping in from time to time so be good guys ;)

Both headlines from the Daily Mail – disrespectful and unrepentant liars.

  7. Good Morning my friends in Celtic,

    Ref the Aleksandar Tonev allegation.

Let the police investigate, but let them investigate the whole scenario surrounding the allegation.

For years now the Aberdeen away support at Parkhead have turned the air blue with their vile jibes and chants. This goes well beyond “banter”

A survey question referenced the OB act. We all know why it was originated and it wasn’t for the supporters perpetrating the offensive behaviour displayed again on Saturday.

Racism is wrong and incompatible with the Celtic ethos. Full stop.

However racism must never compromise equality.

Aleksandar Tonev’s denial must be given equality with Shay Logan’s allegation until proven otherwise.

I have issues with the GB, but are they receiving equality with the disgraceful behaviour we have all witnessed at Parkhead over the last few years.?

The Aberdeen support at Parkhead were disgraceful and our board should retaliate with a hard hitting public condemnation.

    I’m intrigued.

What exactly would the nats do to get rid of the 40,000 or so members of the OO in Scotland? They are Scottish through and through. Their history, their heritage, their traditions are Scottish.

And I wish someone could talk me through how exactly Scotland leaving the UK would persuade the Ulster Scots to give up their veto and vote in favour of a united Ireland. I would have thought the opposite would be true.

Jezzo Ernie, give it rest you’re like a broken record. To early in day for politics. Why not share a story about a Celtic game you were at. You have been to one, haven’t you?

  11. eddieinkirkmichael on

Ernie if there are 40000 members of the OO in Scotland, where were they on sat? At least 5000 on says march we’re from Ni and England so where was the other 30000?

  12. Great reading through the posts from yesterday , was more like CQN with people talking football and reminiscing about old gigs they have been to , happy days .

I never slept all night having confessed to running a bus in 71 to a Slade gig at the Apollo……………………I’ll sleep better tonight having read your sorry tale mate.

  14. Morning all. Dull down here today, as it turned out yesterday.

After months of prevarication, I think I am going to vote No. There are 2 reasons. Firstly, because I think Scotland on its own will become a basketcase. Secondly, I have a dread of the politicians who will rule the roost at Holyrood come Independence.

Having said that, my heart will dance a wee jig if we do vote Yes. For I am Scottish and always will be but, I think, quite distinct from that so often portrayed, even stereotyped. I really consider myself Glaswegian rather than anything else.

Its a bit like that survey yesterday: I thought a lot of the questions were very poorly framed but I was delighted to be asked my opinion.

    Confused? I’m not really.

That rather seems to be the vibe you’re giving off.

  16. Just watched Jim Murphy and Nicola Sturgeon discussing the referendum on BBC Scotland. Always thought Jim was a good politician and smooth talker. But he blew it big time at the end. Talking over Nicola and the interviewer. And then a sick bucket moment when he wished the interviewer’s daughter a happy birthday. Really? WTF.

  17. Good morning CQN

Read this line from the three men in the WM suits indistinguishable from each other

In the letter, the party leaders say they agree that “the UK exists to ensure opportunity and security for all by sharing our resources equitably across all four nations”.

    HA HA HA HA HA

Off oot for the day, have a great day CQN

  18. Agree re Murphy. Symptomatic of the No campaigns overall performance, which has been poor.

At least he had dispensed with the wee bottle of irn bru he has been carry about.

  19. I have read a lot on here and elsewhere about the referendum.

The pros and cons of the various arguments and issues have been fascinating.

Having tried to digest all of this,I must admit to it,for me, coming down to one, simple question.

Do I believe that the future of Scotland should be determined by the people of Scotland?

When all is said and done,I honestly believe that is the one fundamental question that needs to addressed and,for me,it can only have one answer.

    YES!

  20. Paul67, don’t really see the point of the survey. As CQNers we only represent a small fraction of the Celtic supporting diaspora.

Fine if you want to see what our collective components and backgrounds are but not truly representative of the Celtic support.

The nats have promised us that if we vote yes there WILL be a currency union and we WILL have continued membership of the EU on the same terms as currently exist.

The problem is the nats aren’t in a position to deliver on either promise. They are relying on others for these things to happen, and all the indicators are that the others are not going to do what the nats want them to do.

So promises, promises. I know who I’d prefer to believe.

    And supposing Westminster reneges?

There’s a general election next year and we can all vote SNP and secede.

  23. In other news!!!!!! Summa thoughts and prayers ;-)

A goldfish in Australia is recovering from surgery after a life-threatening tumour was removed from its brain in a “high-risk” operation.

Giorgio, whose owner lives in Melbourne, was put under general anaesthetic for the $200 (£125) procedure.

Dr Tristan Rich, who carried out the operation, told Melbourne’s 3AW radio station that the fish was now “up and about and swimming around”.

Vets say the 10-year-old fish is now expected to live for another 20 years.

“Giorgio had a quite large tumour on the top of his head that was growing slowly, and it was beginning to affect his quality of life,” Dr Rich from the Lort Smith Animal Hospital said.

Giorgio’s owner was given the choice between an operation or having the fish put to sleep.

“She was dedicated enough to give it a go,” he said.

He added that the fish was kept alive by pumping oxygenated pond water through its gills.

Dr Rich described the 45-minute operation as “fiddly”.

The only thing that touched a nerve was the language used which I think breaches the site guidelines. But I suppose if you have a limited vocabulary it must be difficult to avoid using half a dozen or so proscribed words when you’re trying to express yourself.

  31. Morning all,

I missed the game on Saturday and still haven’t seen highlights, so can anyone tell me how Scepovic showed up.

I ask because I had a dream last night that Celtic won 2-1 on Thursday and Scepovic scored by chipping the keeper in a one-on-one. That probably means he’s crap…
