Who we are and our values

1097

For some months now, a CQN’er and academic has prepared a project to identify who we, the Celtic support, are in 2014, what our views are, where we come from and how closely our objectives align with the Club.

The project takes the form of a questionnaire, which asks some personal questions, like your political leanings, intentions for the Referendum, faith, education and ethnic heritage.  No sign-up is involved and no identifying information is available.

There are also questions on the Offensive Behaviour Act, as well as the Club’s response to Resolution 12, The Green Brigade and the Living Wage.

The objective is to determine why you support Celtic and whether these reasons are being recognised and served.

I know Celtic have held similar surveys in the past but I’m not aware of a recent academic survey into these questions.  The survey will close on Friday 26th September and results will be reported thereafter.

As with all surveys, the more people who participate the more reflective the results will be, so please 10 minutes to get involved.  You’ll find the survey here.

If you have any questions for the author in relation to the survey please email cqn.survey@orange.fr

Thanks.

Pertaining to the above are allegations made about Aleks Tonev over the weekend.

It’s difficult to see where this one goes if the player says “I didn’t say that” without corroboration either way.  Despite this, the allegation is damaging to Celtic, and to the player, so an internal and public reaction is needed to reiterate the values of the club.

Celtic’s induction process should be clear what is and is not acceptable.

Put a quid on for every year of the union. £300 gets you back a grand, plus your stake, (not bake, Ally) spend the grand on Champagne, but quick, before they change the currency to whitedogsjobbies, as you won`t be able to afford Champagne at 4 thousand and twenty three whitedogsjobbies per glass, and that`s in Weatherspoons.

So when some Yes people previously said that if in future privatisation leads to cut in NHS England spend it’ll mean cuts to NHS Scotland, they were told that’s not correct because Scotland receives the overall block grant and they decide from there.

Now we’re told that despite cuts in the block grant, NHS Scotland spending should be rising because NHS England budget it rising.

Make your minds up. NHS Scotland spend is either directly linked to NHS England budget or it’s not.

The answer is that it’s not and the block grant is being cut by 6.8% in real terms. So the Scottish Govt are being forced into savings.

    ——————————————————————-

Well that’s what Alex Salmond is saying – and you’re happy to believe him. If the issue was the Big Bad Barnett formula then why have they only recently started to focus on it? You’d have thought that a straighforward knock-down argument against such a funding model would have been to point out that NHS Scotland needs better funding.

Bu they haven’t doen this – instead it’s taken someone in NHS Scotland to bring it to our attention.

Throughout this campaign we have been encouraging people to read widely and make up their own minds. But what is clear is that if any a question is raised or information comes to light that does not coincide with some people’s view then the source is to be discredited and the claim rubbished. In my view the recent focus on NHS is simple scaremongering by SNP – it’s only become a campaign focus since they lost the economic argument. Doesn’t bother me if that doesn’t suit you argument. You’ve already made up your mind.

The Scottish Govenment has control over the NHS and has been privatising operations etc to reduce waiting list targets they have failed to meet. As a result they now have a hole in their budget and need to either spend less or find additional funs from another part of their existing spendning plans.

Sorry did I miss something are the Scots now claiming Irish Territorial waters? I am no expert on maritime law but geographically the most northern part of the island of Ireland is Malin head in Co.Dun na gall Rep of Ireland – not the UK. Now if one were to use the premise of the article one could argue Ireland’s EZZ extends 200 miles from Malin head which would extend its maritime zone of influence to just off the Coast of Glasgow (or there about) and Scotland’s zone of influence would extend a mere 12 miles of that said coast? Again I reiterate I am no expert in maritime law but I do know that the convention that the article refers to was never ratified by a number of countries including the USA which basically renders the whole thing moot. Strange that the American expert didn’t know this. I do not think it is a simple as the article would claim.

    Food for thought?

    ================================

It would be a pointless exercise to argue because the EEZ’s are clearly defined and clearly the Irish and the Scots are in agreement:

  8. Re all the new powers apparently devolving to Holyrood…

Are there some taxes or revenues in relation to the shoreline and immediate sub shore areas which, I think may be Crown Estate or something like that?

Seem to recall some debate on transfer of this to Edinburgh a little time ago but it was deemed not appropriate within a limited devolved environment.

When Ghandi argued for freedom, when the men and women of Easter 1916 made their bid for Irish freedom, when the French sought liberté, égalité and fraternité, did they stop and say- “ooh, what about the currency question? what if the rich corporations leave…we best just knock this silliness on the head.”

The Scottish people have the opportunity of achieving some basic ideals- that governance should be as close to the people as possible and as representative of the people as possible.

  12. From what I know about the SNP there are a variety of views within it.

I’d be surprised if they kept the name in the long run and if some people within their ranks did not move away into other parties which are bound to spring up.

I’d be more concerned if I were in the Labour party. They face a battle between actual Labour and New Labour.

For the record the £400-450m funding gap story. It doesn’t actually state that cuts are in place.

It’s states that there’s a funding gap of that amount for 2015-17 and that cuts will have to be made, unless the funding is found from somewhere.

The cuts may well be made, I wouldn’t deny that for a second but they’re not agreed yet and that should be remembered when considering this.

It would be great if increases in Health and Education budget down South brought the block grant back up to at least 0% cuts in real terms. I don’t think it will and certainly won’t bring it back up to being in line with inflation.

It is a chance for us to make our mark and it will have repercussions all around Europe and will be reported upon worldwide.

The important contribution of big heavyweights like Brown should not be underestimated.

The bookies may be offering long odds on us shouting “Yeeess! Ya Beauty” on Thursday, as much as 7 to 1 against, I hear now.

But, in my heart of hearts, I know and I believe….

Can you provide to me a simple explanation why Andy Burnham, shadow Secretary of State for Health, has stated publically that NHS England is going down the road to privatisation and joined the Jarow protest against privatisation only 3 weeks ago when we are being lead to believe by his colleagues in the Labour Better together Vow of promises campaign that there is no such thing happening?

Is Andy Burnham, Labours shadow secretary of state for HEALTH wrong or misrepresenting what is happening in the English NHS?

Or are the Labour Better Together Vow of promises partnership campaigners misrepresenting what is happening in the English NHS?

They lost when they realised that the goal posts had to be moved to keep them in the game by introducing devo max. It is analogous to an EPL manager at the start of the season saying the title is their only goal. Then with three games left and 9 pts behind claiming that achieving a Champions League place would be a great victory.

TTIP is a disgraceful initiative,no doubt about it,but it does not affect NHS Scotland if provisions and services are kept in-house.

AFAIK,there are no plans to extend private provision of primary healthcare in Scotland which might bring TTIP into play.

Unless Alex fancies a wee sinecure after he retires.

  24. It is going to be interesting to come up against a team that was playing the purist pressing game that Ronny Deila is looking to develop, and was playing it well last year.

The front three of Alan, Soriano and Kampl are highly dangerous and Efe, if he plays, will have to have his concentration at CL levels not SPFL levels. They are not at their strongest in defence and we must look to score over there rather than play a backs-to-the wall game.

Salzburg won all 6 group ties home and away and followed that up with home and away wins over Ajax. They began their last 16 tie with a credible 0:0 draw in Basel, and were the better team in that match. One bad night in the return where they lost 2:1 at home knocked them out of the quarter finals with their first defeat in 10 Europa matches. They may have lost their best midfielder but the rest of the team is still very strong.

I will be delighted on Thursday. If we can restrict them to 1 goal or fewer, I fancy our chances.
