For some months now, a CQN’er and academic has prepared a project to identify who we, the Celtic support, are in 2014, what our views are, where we come from and how closely our objectives align with the Club.
The project takes the form of a questionnaire, which asks some personal questions, like your political leanings, intentions for the Referendum, faith, education and ethnic heritage. No sign-up is involved and no identifying information is available.
There are also questions on the Offensive Behaviour Act, as well as the Club’s response to Resolution 12, The Green Brigade and the Living Wage.
The objective is to determine why you support Celtic and whether these reasons are being recognised and served.
I know Celtic have held similar surveys in the past but I’m not aware of a recent academic survey into these questions. The survey will close on Friday 26th September and results will be reported thereafter.
As with all surveys, the more people who participate the more reflective the results will be, so please 10 minutes to get involved. You’ll find the survey here.
If you have any questions for the author in relation to the survey please email cqn.survey@orange.fr
Thanks.
Pertaining to the above are allegations made about Aleks Tonev over the weekend.
It’s difficult to see where this one goes if the player says “I didn’t say that” without corroboration either way. Despite this, the allegation is damaging to Celtic, and to the player, so an internal and public reaction is needed to reiterate the values of the club.
Celtic’s induction process should be clear what is and is not acceptable.

If they fail to deliver there’s a General Election in the spring.

Ernie
Like the Sydney Olympics and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, I must confer ‘best ever’ status on this post.
So Your scenario is a wafer thin majority for No.
Against an entirely predictable and understandable response of increased anti eu feeling and a general scunner towards the Scots The Vow fails to be delivered despite Cameron et al’s best efforts.
Disgusted by this betrayal of their Scottish brethren the English electorate seek their revenge at the next general election…..it’s route with SNP candidates are returned from Devon to derby, from Eastbourne to Essex with the cry, They Must Have Their Vow!!!
Sales of See You Jimmy wigs rise exponentially and BMCUW becomes an overnight $makaroonee zillionaire as a result.
Me? I don’t really see that being very likely!

I think you’re right and I think Kris knows that too, thus the desperate desire to show his worth.
Don’t expect him to play on Thursday.

‘Several back bench MPs have declared they’ll vote against’
Who, and how many? Enough to secure a majority? Not a n earthly chance of it, and you know that perfectly well.
######
‘The House of Lords have previously indicated that it requires a UK wide referendum.’
Do you have a source for that?
big wavy. I agree about Thursday we need to improve our ball retention for European games and as we have previously agreed Kris is poor in that skill. H.H.

Why direct that comment to me rather than mogan67?
Or are nats not to be challenged?
That rather seems to be the vibe you’re giving off.
Reminds me of the huns.
Eh…..the huns are voting NO
From the White House:
“… we have an interest in seeing the United Kingdom remain strong, robust, united and an effective partner.”
“An effective partner”…. Yet another reason to vote Yes.

Agreed although wierdly against Maribor we looked better when he came on.
I think Brown’s return is going to make more of a difference then anything else however.
Like to see Guidetti start too.

What will the British establishment offer today??
Guaranteed incomes of £1m a year?
Champions League football every season?
Sunnier weather?

“The House of Lords’ Constitutional Committee this week warned in a report that devo max should not be a question for Scotland alone, as it has the potential to create different and competing tax regimes within the UK.”
http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201012/ldselect/ldconst/263/26305.htm
“44. The different constitutional outcome of “devolution max” requires a distinct constitutional process for its achievement. As illustrated by the potential for competing tax regimes within the United Kingdom, such an arrangement for one member of the Union would necessarily have real, deep and immediate consequences for the other members and for the Union as a whole. Properly to secure the legitimate interests of each and all, proposals as to “devolution max” would first have to be developed through intergovernmental negotiations conducted, not just bilaterally with the UK Government, but on an inclusive, multilateral basis across the Union state.[58]
45. Whereas both the UK Government and the Scottish Government have recognised that independence is a Scottish question, “devolution max” is not. Proper constitutional process requires that negotiations involving all parts of the United Kingdom precede any referendum on an agreed scheme of “devolution max.”
Can anyone confirm,
The promises that are now appearing from the No side, are they the same as Devo Max, or are they an inferior copy?
Would this not be considered as unconstitutional? Would it not need to go to a vote in both houses?
Would our British cousins look kindly on more powers to Scotland?
A lot of ifs buts and maybes to me tbh……..
I thought Guidetti wasn’t eligible due to SFA procrastination.

To be fair, I don’t have much of a problem with that plan. I’ve long bemoaned the fact that Celtic players are reluctant to shoot.

Increased powers are no more guaranteed than a currency union.
—————————————————————————————–
Sorry to hone in on your post in particular – could have been any one of a number.
What does my head in about the blog and the referendum is that we have seemingly intelligent people who feel obliged to lob shit at any and every post or comment that seems to adversely affect their own position.
It’s not a Celtic v Rangers game – and the brainless whataboutery seems childlike and moronic.
There’s a hell of a difference when someone pledges an action (to increase devolved powers) versus pledges an inaction (wont enter a currency union).
Over the next couple of years, there will be plenty of opportunities at the ballot box to punish broken promises. Despite what Alex Salmond says openly, I am sure that broken Westminster promises and an SNP landslide at the next Scottish election will give him an overwhelming mandate to have another go…

I suspect to find as many postal orders as possible to buy Carbines!
But please less of this incendiary chat. There’s a big Yes event at George Sq this evening and some folks will start panicking about a plot to take over what was the post office.
It’s now a Jamie Oliver restaurant so that would never do!
Down with this sort of thing!

Green Shield Stamps?
it has been reported in the US that the Clare field has an estimated 8 billion barrels left of oil left. this is estimated to last in the region of 87 years if extracted at a rate of 250,000 barrels per day. That’s just one field.
Wow.
Bobby Murdoch
You may be correct.
But at least on the Yes side these promises are detailed.
You may not agree with them or believe that they are workable but at least they have been in or it for 2 years and are not the creation of closing poll results, getting a rocket up yer arse because you considered it a done deal and the information is there before 18th of September.
Can you imagine these same people of the Tories went forward without a manifesto in a GE only start promising the world a week before polling without ratification.
They’d be pretty much were I am right now.
Dumbfounded Astounded of forehead!!!
No two doubts in my mind about that.
A lot of people going down in my estimations of them right now with regards their political principles.

Does anyone else find it odd that so many are practically pushing Kris Commons out the door?
Last season’s top scorer, the player of the year and the creative fulcrum for the whole team for the last two or even three seasons and now he’s not good enough to fit into the new “masterplan”.
This coming at a time when the masterplan has seen us knocked out of the Champions League (twice) and struggle domestically.
And despite, going by the blog, being unable to run, pass or even shoot (!) he still managed to score the winner on Saturday. Someone please tell me who we have who is better than him.

Is Ermine paying that out in £20 notes; the ones with oul’ Lizzie’s napper on the front?
Or is that another ‘Vow’ not to be taken too seriously…
