Who we are and our values

1097

For some months now, a CQN’er and academic has prepared a project to identify who we, the Celtic support, are in 2014, what our views are, where we come from and how closely our objectives align with the Club.

The project takes the form of a questionnaire, which asks some personal questions, like your political leanings, intentions for the Referendum, faith, education and ethnic heritage.  No sign-up is involved and no identifying information is available.

There are also questions on the Offensive Behaviour Act, as well as the Club’s response to Resolution 12, The Green Brigade and the Living Wage.

The objective is to determine why you support Celtic and whether these reasons are being recognised and served.

I know Celtic have held similar surveys in the past but I’m not aware of a recent academic survey into these questions.  The survey will close on Friday 26th September and results will be reported thereafter.

As with all surveys, the more people who participate the more reflective the results will be, so please 10 minutes to get involved.  You’ll find the survey here.

If you have any questions for the author in relation to the survey please email cqn.survey@orange.fr

Thanks.

Pertaining to the above are allegations made about Aleks Tonev over the weekend.

It’s difficult to see where this one goes if the player says “I didn’t say that” without corroboration either way.  Despite this, the allegation is damaging to Celtic, and to the player, so an internal and public reaction is needed to reiterate the values of the club.

Celtic’s induction process should be clear what is and is not acceptable.

  2. funny how a wee whistleblower comes out just before a very important referendum when the brown stuff is just about to hit the fan at a time when all the FEAR mongering is ramping up.

Personally wouldn’t have it any other way. I believe the Scottish population are not stupid in the main and the majority will see through the week and a half long ‘shiting themselves’ campaign.

When Ghandi argued for freedom, when the men and women of Easter 1916 made their bid for Irish freedom, when the French sought liberté, égalité and fraternité, did they stop and say- “ooh, what about the currency question? what if the rich corporations leave…we best just knock this silliness on the head.”

The Scottish people have the opportunity of achieving some basic ideals- that governance should be as close to the people as possible and as representative of the people as possible.

Whilst it sounds too simplistic, it is actually a true- the practical matters WILL be dealt with after independence, the sun will still rise on Friday 19th…

Societies, human beings have dealt with much more challenging problems and will do so in the future.

    Don’t be scared. Vote YES

  5. Ernie,

If in your opinion we will get Devo Max if a No vote is returned, why did they take it off the voting paper in the first place? Why wait until now to put it back on?

Is it the same Devo Max as had been muted before or a watered down version?

  6. Spending the morning of my 50th birthday with Mrs Westendtim listening to Nina Simone singing I wish I knew how it would feel to be Free? I hope to know this week!

  7. I truly do not know if an Independent Scotland would be a better place or not. I do know that, for the ordinary working person, life has, relatively, always been pretty much the same. So, my conclusion is that real life will be pretty much the same either way.

Nevertheless, the Establishment support of No makes me feel that a Yes vote might lead to circumstances which, in turn, would lead to improvement in an Independent Scotland.

I further believe that the scaremongering of the Better Together campaign has influenced my decision to vote Yes.

Supporters of the corrupt Labour Party will say anything to stop a yes vote. It still won’t work for the charlatans though.

Although it’s already been denied by the SNP, perhaps it’s in relation to cuts in the block grant though.

    ————————————

Of course it’s been denied. But it’s there in black and white. The block grant is based on the Barnett formula – so the Scottish Government knows what it is in advance. And of course they’re not going to scall it out – it blows a hole in their argument about NHS Scotland.

  12. From The Guardian :

“Last week the Institute for Fiscal Studies published an analysis which revealed that the Scottish government was planning to make cuts in health spending even though NHS budgets were rising in England. The analysis showed planned cuts to NHS funding in Scotland of 1.2%in 2015-16. In England, it said, health spending was due to increase by 4.4% in the same year despite an overall public spending cut of 13%.”

  16. Devo Max?

Or as George Galloway said – Super Devo.

On Wednesday morning it will turn into Super Duper Wooper Devo.

Empty promises from an elite currently fearful of their position.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

Time to say no thanks to being led up the garden path any longer.

YES gives us ALL the powers and ALL our revenues.

    Just vote YES.

So when some Yes people previously said that if in future privatisation leads to cut in NHS England spend it’ll mean cuts to NHS Scotland, they were told that’s not correct because Scotland receives the overall block grant and they decide from there.

Now we’re told that despite cuts in the block grant, NHS Scotland spending should be rising because NHS England budget it rising.

Make your minds up. NHS Scotland spend is either directly linked to NHS England budget or it’s not.

The answer is that it’s not and the block grant is being cut by 6.8% in real terms. So the Scottish Govt are being forced into savings.
