Whyte integral to Miller’s future plans for Rangers

301

I don’t know anything about Bill Miller’s connections, neither does anyone else apparently, but we can be sure of one of two things.

Miller’s convoluted proposal is wholly dependent of him working in concert with Craig Whyte.  As owner of Rangers Football Club PLC, Whyte would stand to be an equity partner in the newly merged company (Miller has made no offer for his shares).

This option would not be possible unless Whyte and Miller are working together.

Miller’s proposal blows a whole the size of Ibrox through the notion that Rangers recent legislative troubles were all down to Craig Whyte who would soon no longer be part of the club.  He is an integral part of the advertised strategy (no matter how unlikely you reckon that strategy is to play out).

The SFA Judicial Appeals Panel must not be intimidated into thinking otherwise.

If Miller has taken a genuine punt (figuratively speaking, I hear he declined to pay the exclusivity bond) without doing a deal with Whyte, his advances will be rejected and Whyte will no doubt take legal action in the coming days to further protect his assets – you don’t think moving the floating charge to a different offshore company last month was to boost Caribbean tourism do you?

In this case, Duff and Phelps would be unable to conclude a deal to sell Rangers and would have to prepare for this scenario soon.  I reckon there is at least a 50% chance this will be the case.

More later, time permitting, ahead of the CSA Rally tonight!!

  1. UPDATE: Bidding now at £510.00.

Bidding closes on Monday 7th May.

Historic Celtic top signed by the 3-0 slayers of Rangers (In Administration, Liquidation, Extinction, Newco, Oldco – whatever).

Fellow Celts, I need your help.

My parents recently had to go into full time care in Wellburn Care Home, Lochee, Dundee. Wellburn is run by the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Wellburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area. It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

The sisters need cash to maintain the home for the benefit of the residents.

Trust me, you cannot visit there and not be inspired by the work the sisters do.

Our heroic, favourite players have signed the top which is in mint condition and in a fantastic presentation box.

Forever more this top will be known as the 3-0 (going on 7) massacre top.

You can support the work of The Little Sisters Of The Poor by bidding for this Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

On a different subject, The Thai Tims were wonderful last night.

Such a contrast from the jingoistic, pompous, flag waving, Nuremburg Rally, Help For Heroes (without paying a penny in taxes to help them), fascist like, dam busters, Simply The Best type pre-match ‘entertainment’ served up across the city. VIVE LA DIFFERENCE.

Yes indeed, but…stadium, training ground, players… for just 11 million? Wouldn’t these be worth much much more if sold off now and people paid what they are owed? (or a bigger proportion of it anyway)

  3. I sit in section 122 which is directly opposite the GB. There is a group of about 6 to 10 boys aged between 9 and 10 who sit right at the back of the section. They put up there flags and banners on the back wall ( one of which says Ultra Since 2006) they sing away – a mini GB of their own They are fantastic.

At the very front of my section at each game before kick off and at half time another group of kids much younger have a kick about using anything they can find last night it was a coke cup. They take it very seriously and array a joy to watch.

  4. Headthebal,

The players wouldn’t be included, just the ground, Murray Park and the car park.

Re all know that the club’s assets are not worth the £100M+ of the Murray days. I recall D&P were getting a new evaluation done but haven’t ever seen the result. Want to bet that it comes out somewhere near £11M?

  5. In today’s Herald Michael Grant has an interview with Sandy Jardine. In it Jardine is quoted as saying “You can only say sorry so many time.”

    Whit?

When did they say sorry? They have never said sorry! Jardine has been far too busy threatening people to say sorry.

Good. They’re a party of yoghurt-weaving vegetarian fruitcakes, petty authoritarian moralising teuchters, and EU-lickspittle weirdos. The sooner they cease to exist as a force in politics the better for everyone concerned. (thumbsup)

Hen1 and ernie, make a statement about what?

Until details are formally announced from those in authority all we are hearing and reading just now is hearsay. When and if formal announcements are made that amount to them gaining entry into a league with no accountability for past misdeeds, then is the time to act.

Criticism of our board at this time is unjustified IMO.

  11. philvisreturns_2 on

estorilbhoy – No doubt the board should be publicly flouncing off, threatening resignation from the SPL, etc. etc.

    That’s the Belfast Celtic option.

There’s probably nothing the huns would love more than to see our club pull the plug on itself. (thumbsup)

In which case the Board call an AGM and get the consent of the shareholders

    >>>>

Yes agreed. But it’s too late now to do this. If it was going to be done it would have had do have been done months ago. Also, going public back then would have generated a lot of negative press. I can imagine what the headlines would have looked like.

However it is academic now. Any opportunity to do such a thing has now passed, and you could be justified in thinking the board was negligent not to act or at least call an EGM when it had the opportunity.

  17. Maybe Fraser Wishart was duped when he advised the RFC players about contracts.

    2) While I do not think it is appropriate at this point in time I can imagine Celtic asking for statements on and some supporters demanding that they do.

    A) Regan and Ogilvie having met Whtye

    B) The matters that were discussed according to White

    C) Why the SFA panel chose to exercise extra cautionary discretion over not expelling Rangers FC. The Disciplinary Panel by itself cannot exercise this discretion but the SFA body can.

    D) The SPL has stated to today that it is “continuing” with discussions with Bill Miller … no harm in asking about clarification here

The sad thing is that those £11m worth of assets will eventually be sold for much much more and the creditors of old Rangers will get none of it.

  20. Want to hear a crazy story?

Just been talking to a colleague who has business interests in America and he is saying that Boss Hogg Miller is interested in rangers due to a very famous actor’s input. The said actor apparently knows Bill through charitable events and some conservation projects.

It appears this person has a wee soft spot for FPLG and has persuaded Kill Bill to take his ‘Shot At Glory’.

    Crazy I know, but…

It’s not to late to call an EGM.

In any case members of the Board hold over 40% of the shares. If they are of one mind it would be hard to see an EGM voting any other way.

Premier League televised football packages up for grabs

More live Premier League games will be shown from 2013-14 season

The Premier League has issued an invitation to tender for the domestic UK broadcast rights for the 2013-14 to 2015-16 football seasons.

It says 154 matches will be shown live on TV each season from 2013-14 – 16 more than currently broadcast and more than 40% of all top-level matches

The extra 16 live games comes as matches are moved away from Saturday 15:00 kick-off times, due to Europa League involvement or police advice.

No 15:00 kick-offs can be shown live.

The 154 games will be split into seven packages comprising five packages of 26 matches and two packages of 12 matches. No one buyer will be allowed to buy more than five packages or 116 matches.

The current rights are held by Sky and ESPN, and a challenge from Al Jazeera is also expected this time round.

“This creates a more attractive and compelling offering for both broadcasters and fans; whilst allowing the continued protection of the Saturday 3pm ‘closed window’ and minimising further displacement of Premier League fixtures,” said the league.

Another sales process will be conducted for two “near live” packages each containing 226 matches, and an internet-based clips package for all 380 matches.
