Whyte, Ticketus or their proxy the only show in town

971

Sterling work by Chris McLaughlin at the BBC who brought us the news that Duff and Phelps have rejected a bid for Rangers from Brian Kennedy, the owner English rugby club, Sale Sharks.  Earlier today Kennedy suggested the administrators get their act together and move towards appointing a preferred bidder.

A preferred bidder may now be identified, if not yet publicly announced.

I can imagine the process to whittle bidders down:

‘Tell me, do you own Ibrox Stadium or security and floating charge over it?’

‘No?  Ah, that’s a problem, as we don’t have it either.  Where do you propose to play matches?’

‘Forget that one, someone tipped off St Mirren.’

‘Don’t take that tone with me, we’re doing our best in difficult circumstances and we’ve not been paid a pound.  Yet.’

Craig Whyte controls the security and floating charge over Ibrox.  He provided Ticketus with security for the money they due on the season tickets they purchased, worth in the region of £40m.

Mr Whyte and Ticketus, or a proxy, are the only show in town – and that show is not a CVA.  Everything else is just shooting the breeze at £600 per hour.

Kenny Shiels glad decision on Celtic fans isn’t his call

KILMARNOCK manager Kenny Shiels is glad he is not the one to make the “no-win” decision on whether Rugby Park is given over almost completely to Celtic fans for a potential Clydesdale Bank Premier League title- winning party.

Celtic could be crowned SPL champions on Sunday against St Johnstone at Celtic Park if Rangers fail to take three points against Motherwell at Fir Park 24 hours earlier.

In the event of a Rangers win, Celtic would have to wait for their trip to Ayrshire next week for their next chance to wrap up the championship and Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston admits he would look to cash in on the travelling fans who would invade the town.

Kilmarnock supporters have previously been upset at being surrounded by Old Firm fans who have bought seats for the home sections of the ground.

With that in mind, Johnston has written to season ticket holders in the East Stand asking if they would be in favour of decanting to the Main Stand for the day. That would give Celtic fans three stands in the 18,000-plus capacity stadium and also raise much-needed funds for ground improvements which would, in turn, prevent breaking into next season’s player budget.

Shiels, who is focusing first on tomorrow’s SPL clash with St Mirren in Paisley, said: “I can see it from both sides but our priority is to get as much money in as we can to strengthen. But I am glad I don’t have to make the decision because no matter what decision the chairman makes, it will not please everyone.

“He is in a no-win situation but it might not come to that.”

Kilmarnock fans were outnumbered by Rangers supporters on the final day of last season when the Ibrox side retained their SPL title with a convincing 5-1 win. However, Shiels was reluctant to discuss the possibility of a similar scenario for his team next week.

“It just makes it a difficult game for the players because someone else is winning a trophy on your ground,” he said.

“But I don’t think it is an issue for me, I am not thinking about that. I am thinking totally on St Mirren at the moment. The Celtic game is something that is down the road.”

The Scottish Communities League Cup winners travel to Paisley on the back of a fine 2-0 home win over Motherwell last week, a victory cherished all the more by Shiels as it was achieved with seven players missing.

The Northern Irishman said: “The effort and commitment put in under the circumstances made it an an amazing achievement.

“Not only did we have seven out, goalkeeper Cammy Bell had to go off [injured] at half-time which made it eight, although he is back for this week. But everyone did well.”

“CELTIC legend Charlie Nicholas last night declared the only person tainting the Hoops forthcoming Title glory is manager Neil Lennon.

With the team boss now facing three SFA disciplinary charges Nicholas believes he has become an ” embarrassment ” to the club and taken deserved credit away from the players.

Nicholas is adamant that the focus should all be on a side that has been very worthy of claiming the SPL Flag instead of becoming a managerial sideshow soured by frequent rows over refereeing decisions.

“It should all be about the team and their achievements on the park but now it has become more about Neil Lennon, squabbling again with referees and how the officials helped to blow Celtic’s treble. ” he declared.

“It has come from a point where they were 21 points ahead and nobody could argue if they walked away with the title by more than 20 points because the players have worked hard and chalked up an impressive run.

    ì

But that now seems to have gone and now and the manager is taking centre stage

heh since the door was opened earlier on Che I feel I have the right to elaborate and reply:

Case #1: A priest is murdered by policeman in Communist Poland in 1984.

The Polish policeman are quickly apprehended, tried an jailed

Result: Massive, sustained outcry in the US Media. Repitition of bloody detail, allusions to Soviet involvement.

Case2: 100 prominent Latin American religious figures martyred, including the assassination of the Arschbishop of San Salvador and 4 American nuns raped and murdered by the US backed security forces.

Result: Media restraint. Comments that a “basically moderate” government is finding it difficult to control violence of either the right or the left.

  8. Kenny Clark has done a real hatchet job on Neil Lennon in the Sun today.

I actually refuse to give it any oxygen and I give you only this extract as I think it’s the most obnoxious bit “I was sat next to a couple of Celtic fans and I left with the distinct impression that Lennon has now become an embarrassment to the silent majority.

They have had enough of his outbursts.

Remember, these guys were saying all of this BEFORE last Sunday’s match at Ibrox.

I won’t contaminate myself by posting a reply on their message board, instead I confirm here that Neil Francis Lennon has my full backing and Neil, you’ve got a friend in me.

I thought my point was obvious but for clarify – Clark was introducing a new and scheming element to his onslaught of Neil Lennon by insinuating he has lost the silent majority of Celtic supporters and he’d expand on this in future pieces.

  16. Jackie Mac was talking about this earlier:

Alongside that, there’s the issue of player registration. Because of the club’s tax arrangements, it is possible they fielded player after player without telling either the Scottish FA or Scottish Premier League about those players’ full salary details.

If they didn’t tell them – and this is still the subject of investigation – every match they played in could be forfeit to the other side 3-0, and a whole lot of silverware will leave Rangers to be re-engraved and presented to another club.

Whatever Englishman Stewart Regan might have anticipated when he moved from Yorkshire County Cricket Club to the Scottish Football Association, I would bet the farm that he encountered a few surprises and one or two shocks in the culture of top football in Scotland – and in Glasgow particularly.

Party on Celtic, you deserve it

BACK IN BLUE … Smith can’t believe events at Rangers

THE history books show clean sheets, not balance sheets.

Balls in the net, not pounds in the bank.

Cups won, not court cases lost.

Walter Smith felt that way in 1994 when Celtic were on the brink of collapse and Rangers stood tall.

With roles reversed NOTHING has changed. Neil Lennon will deserve his accolade as a title winning manager when it comes, Smith insists.

Some say the Hoops’ championship will be devalued because of the carnage caused by administration.

    Not Ibrox legend Smith.

He said: “When I first took over at Rangers in the early 90s, Celtic were in a poor position financially and organisationally. Rangers managed to win a couple of championships then. You count them.

“When you win a league championship, it is not just a test of the team that goes on the field. It is a test of your whole club, the organisation and the way it is being run.

“Rangers haven’t been good enough in that aspect. There is no doubt the circumstances they have been in have affected the team on the pitch, but you have to look at the club overall.”

Smith just hopes Rangers have seen the worst of its troubles.

That it’s good times ahead in the weeks and months to come.

With Craig Whyte, however, he isn’t so sure.

This week the shameless Ibrox owner had no intention of moving aside and handing over his 85.3 per cent shareholding. We told you first he was dead set against dealing with Paul Murray’s Blue Knights.

Administrators Duff & Phelps now realise that and Smith is unable to fathom how the discredited Motherwell man can still demand a say in what happens next.

Gers fans can only hope he walks away but Smith can’t see it. He said: “He’s not going to do that, is he? Not if what has been reported is correct.

“I thought if you were put into administration you had no great say in what was happening.

“So I took it for granted, maybe like everybody else, that the administrator would make a decision more than anybody else.

“If that’s not the case, hopefully the administrator can have a huge influence in what happens, sooner rather than later.”

Smith, speaking to help promote tonight’s game between Rangers Legends and AC Milan Legends at Ibrox, is fully behind the Blue Knights bid.

    Crucially, he trusts Murray.

Smith added: “I don’t know Paul that well. I only know him through his time on the board but Paul would have the interests of the football club at heart. Maybe that is what’s needed more than anything else at the present moment.

“On a personal basis I would be pleased if he gets it because he has made no secret of wanting to be involved in owning the club. He was at the forefront of ideas in previous years.

“If he does get it I think that would be good for the club. In terms of making a comparison, it is difficult because I don’t know the other people.

“If there is anything I can do to help the club I will do it, but I’m not going to come back.

“If I had wanted to stay at Rangers in a working basis I would have done so.”

Smith hopes Rangers supporters realise who did the best for the club in the dark days.

He admitted: “I think there is a lot of misinformation put out to suit whatever party.

“At the end of last season, Rangers Football Club was in its best financial position for maybe 70 or 80 years.

“They had no debt. Craig Whyte told us he paid off the remaining £18m to the bank so that meant Rangers were debt-free. When you go from that previous financial position to being in administration eight months later, it’s fairly alarming.

“I am reading it is Dick Advocaat’s fault, David Murray, Walter Smith’s fault from years ago.

“That might be the case, you can make your judgements on what happened. But the fact is none of that mattered. In May of last year, all of that had disappeared — there was no debt; the club had managed to cut £16m off the overall debt, Craig Whyte gave the other £18m to the bank. The bank had received £34m in three and a bit years.

“Rangers weren’t a business going into administration or anything like that, they were actually a business which was fairly well run over that period of time.

“Martin Bain, as chief executive, seems to have come out this worse than anybody. He could be quite PROUD of what he did, handling the bank, having me moaning at him for not spending any money.

“He seems to be getting vilified only I think because he stood against Craig Whyte’s buying of the club.

“The previous people ran the club as was thought best.

“They were successful enough on the field and we were meeting the bank’s criteria over those three years.

“Albeit under protest on my part but we were meeting them. You can’t say it was badly run in that period of time.”

  21. The silent majority don’t have a lot to say but when it comes to Neil Lennon they don’t have to ask any coruptable MIB what they should think.

I think we all heard what the silent majority had to say earlier, and they said it loud enough for the heavens to hear it too.Don’t you remember, it was the last game of the season past, a memorable day as Celtic Supporters shoed the huns how to celebrate an ethos as opposeda tainted title. This season when the title is presented I think we will hear the silent majority replicate their endearing endorsement on Mr. Neil Francis Lennon, Manager of Celtic Football Club. There are a few Celtic Supporters who would rather another manager than Neil for football reasons but there is not such a thing as a Celtic Supporter who does not admire Mr. Neil Lennon’s courage in facing down intimidation of the most evil kind. There is not a single Celtic Supporter who would say that what Neil does is not for the good of Celtic Football Club – in his heart.

Maybe the harlot hacks should write about the silent majority ofthe hun kind who silently endorsed the sending of those bombs. Oh I forgot there couldwell have been a few hacksw in amongst the bombers fan club.

So, according to Nicholas, Neil Lennon is tainting Celtic’s title and being an embarrassment to the club.

The filthy rat chooses to ignore the fact that in recent weeks, Neil has buried a best friend and had to attend court because two guys wanted to blow him up(assault as it is known in Scotland).
