Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

  1. Two things we are waiting for: the Big Tax Case outcome and the SPL “two contracts” inquiry outcome. I think they will arrive in that order – and may help to clarify the overall picture somewhat.

  2. One Law to Bind Them

If there’s not one there already

We can always make one up

Put it into place at once

    Delay it for backup

We can make one nice an sugary

Sweet and easy to help it slip

Cover up the nice wee lies

    It’s all about friendship

So next time you’re in administration

Want a new law to set you free

    Forget about your corruption

We’ll just make a new decree

    From Video Celts

Crawford Allan will referee Celtic’s match with St Johnstone tomorrow night with Iain Brines in the middle for Sunday’s trip to Dundee United.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I predict good old Crawford will have a very easy night of it. Especially since the match is Thursday not Wednesday!

    Thumbs up

So do the Celtic Board have any plans as to what to do next other than to wring their hands, shake their heads and mutter to themselves in a disconsolate fashion?

You’ll appreciate that this matters to some of us rather more than others. It’s make or break.

They are a shambles…and totally without morals.

I firmly believe that the penalties for newco will be reduced to 10 points for 2 years and zero financial penalties.

The quicker UEFA step in, the better

Mr Lawwell needs to speak out and tell us what is happening, even if itt means falling out with the gang of 10….their fans deserve better too

I still maintain UEFA will not allow rangers/Newco to get away with not paying their football debt.

  12. UEFA will be interested in all of this, no mistake. Financial Fair Play is Platini’s baby. And he has talked before about FAs having to put financial fair play above financial gain.

I would be very surprised if UEFA officials, at Platini’s instruction, are not in contact with the SFA regularly right now.

If Newco are voted into the SPL because of the blue pound, surely that does not mean we will sit gladly back and watch. They need to then be denied the green pound by organised boycotts and same match time events at Parkhead to give our money to our club. Away match beam backs?

    Gordon J….,

I’d expect threats of civil unrest are being used to intimidate uefa, no doubt strathclyde polis have made the security argument the biggest priority.

  18. Let’s say the worst happens – Newco gets in, looks like oldco, smells like oldco, all obstacles out of way.

    What do we do?

    I am conflicted.

If the above happens we will be watching a tainted league, but my Celtic, my beloved Celtic will have to play in it.

Do I walk away? I only damage Celtic if I do but I know that they are being shafted, or rather, continue to be shafted by a corrupt set up.

My heart says stay. The head says go.

It is a sickening scenario. Cheated for years before and if this comes to pass cheated for the rest of our lives.

What position will Newco be in? Financially I can see them being weak for a while. But I can also envisage a share issue on the back of the huge relief their fans feel at still having a club, albeit a new one, to follow follow. and it would be succesful enough to compensate for Ticketus.

For the first time in a while I think our structural advantage may only last for 3 or 4 years. So we will have to make it count.

Hopefully they will employ ally mccoist to assist us in that.

Depressing article. But has to be put out there.

What can we do? What can Celtic PLC do?

    Realistically?

  19. ernie lynch

Exactly! You think UEFA will seriously turn a blind eye to that.

Everything including the Big Tax Case postponed until Newco safely takes its place in the SPL?

No sanctions if they just hurry up and pull the plug on themselves?

Do they fall on their sword now, or risk it?

    Hopefully only days away now.

UEFA will get their information from the SFA, not Celtic, and certainly not from Celtic fans.

    They won’t intervene.

I’m the same. What I’d do is boycott away games and non-home cup games, and put any money I would have spent into Celtic merch. Even if it ends up getting donated elsewhere it’s money that other clubs aren’t getting that Celtic are. Punish them, strengthen us.

    Thanks for your e-mail.

Leeds United, Rotherham, Bournemouth and Luton Town are all clubs which did not agree a CVA with creditors (following them going into administration) and which (in the last few years) were permitted to remain in the League with their League share being transferred to a newco.

This demonstrates that, while a number of clubs have agreed a CVA with creditors, a number have not – but have still been permitted to remain in the Football League nonetheless.

    Kind regards

    David
