Words are easy, so are actions

After yesterday’s discussion on values, what we’re all about and where we’re going, today’s announcement by the Foundation that they will have a badge day at the Dundee United game on 11 May is something that requires us to step forward and do something about.

“Volunteers will be in place at all turnstile areas and supporters will be asked to make a donation of minimum £1 in return for a badge, which illustrates the new Celtic FC Foundation crest.  All monies raised on the day will support our work challenging homelessness in the Glasgow area.”

I’m going to volunteer.  You should too.  It will mean getting to the game a wee bit earlier but it will also mean you can look those values we all preach in the eye.  Words are easy but on this occasion, so are actions.  Let’s do it.

I’ll find out how you volunteer and report back soon.

Heard Elbows on the telly there. Just realised I’ve never heard him speaking before, an epic battle to complete every sentence.

Nearly crashed the van this morning when Elbows was afforded the opportunity to further sin his soul by claiming he never touched Kayal on radio clyde …… it’s not up for debate ya dirty lying hun thug ……. the evidence is 100% ……….. it was a cynical, pre meditated , career threatning assault which was applauded by your fat controller and totally ingnored by the brethern ……. it’s been many moons since I read a newspaper and I’m now seriously considering ditching the radio too ………. f**kin raging at their aiding and abeting of this animal .

Barca lost last night even though they had 71% possession.

AM receive all round praise for a Diego Simeone master class on how to beat them.

Compare with 17 months ago when Celtic’s epic victory against a better Barca side was described by our msm as very lucky, due to us having only around 20% possession.

  9. From KDS an early brief assessment of Sevco accounts

An £18m loss to win division 3  a wages to turnover ratio of 99.5% (not quite the 33% claimed by mcCoist). These figures, which are now 10 months out of date, are absolutely disastrous. A car crash of a club/company.

The end is near. They will need to slash and burn massively but without a cash transfusion, they are toast.

And SKY is just as bad. White obviously has too much input. A piece on Aberdeen’s double chances has just ended with rfc1872 Cup celebrations at Hampden from 1999.

  11. Lions roar if strikes me that the Nats are happy to harp on about the wonders of nationalism on this site for months. But when they are confronted with some difficult truths they run away and hide. And of course when it’s not your side of the argument talking then it’s all very boring.

It’s a shame that there is no intellectual substance to the Nats arguments. Then again the majority of the electorate know this and will confirm it in September.

Why don’t you be honest Nats supporters and just tell it’s it’s simply an emotional urge to be independent and stop pretending how great it would be? There’s nothing wrong with that.

MWD to be honest I find that it’s pointless discussing these matters between committed yes and no voters. We are entrenched and no debate will move anyone. The only reason I am debating it here is because of the, let’s face it, weak arguments by Nats being portrayed as FACTS. I also need to challenge all this the polls are narrowing, yes campaign is going great nonsense. I’m happy to leave if if the uber Nats are. They can’t win an argument anyway.

Can we not try to find some common ground here?

    It shouldn’t be that difficult.

It seems to me that virtually everyone involved is a unionist of some sort.

There’s those who wish to maintain a political union and there are those who wish to maintain a monetary union.

So could we not just all agree to refer to each other as unionists?

Or would that be too much honesty for nats to face up to?

  19. The other strange claim about the sevco accounts is that they are supposed to have just been made visible.

I downloaded them on 27th March and pointed another contributor to them on Sunday or Monday who was wanting to compare Raith Rovers numbers to Sevco’s.

    ———————————————–

I’ve posted the results of all polls since 2012 4 times on the blog and received very little response. This suggests people are either happy to ignore the polls or it’s just too dull to read! Either way, here is my post from yesterday on the subject with links for everyone’s perusal and interpretation. I posted my interpretation yesterday. My original post below :

Someone posted a few weeks back the results of the latest poll on the referendum debate showed that the Yes vote was gaining ground. This piqued my interest and led to my looking for all the polls that have been taken since January 2012. You can see all the poll results here :

    http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/scottish-independence-referendum

Out of all 60 polls taken since 2012, only 1 shows a positive Yes lead. This was commissioned by the SNP and conducted by Panelbase.

The surveys that show the best (though still negative) results for a Yes vote tend gather the data online (Panelbase, Survation).

The most recent poll shows a -5 for the Yes campaign – conducted by Panelbase.

Of the 18 polls conducted since the start of the year, the best result for the Yes campaign have been the -5 results on 14/3 and 04/04 – both online polls conducted by Panelbase.

Make up your own mind about how you want to interpret these data. Personally, I can’t see any difference in voting intention since the start of 2012 when we had similar results from Panelbase – I see no “narrowing” between Yes and No. I also don’t see any poll other than the SNP-commissioned poll on 28/08/2013 that suggests a Yes vote likely.

I would also say that a factor here is Methodology – the data gathered online is different from that gathered by other means (e.g. surveying people in the street).

    tom molach,

You said First Team wages @ 43%.

What about reserve team, coaching staff, CEO, etc.?

Is it not the overall ratio of wages to turnover that matters?

No wonder the leccy bill wasn’t paid.
