Words are easy, so are actions

After yesterday’s discussion on values, what we’re all about and where we’re going, today’s announcement by the Foundation that they will have a badge day at the Dundee United game on 11 May is something that requires us to step forward and do something about.

“Volunteers will be in place at all turnstile areas and supporters will be asked to make a donation of minimum £1 in return for a badge, which illustrates the new Celtic FC Foundation crest.  All monies raised on the day will support our work challenging homelessness in the Glasgow area.”

I’m going to volunteer.  You should too.  It will mean getting to the game a wee bit earlier but it will also mean you can look those values we all preach in the eye.  Words are easy but on this occasion, so are actions.  Let’s do it.

I’ll find out how you volunteer and report back soon.

Not sure if anyone on here knew him, but I am going to the funeral of a good Clydebank man on Friday.

Jack McAllister was provost of Clydebank and his son, Douglas, now holds the modern day equivalent of that position.

I was conducted a trial before him when he was a JP. Clydebank was the only district court I knew where you stopped for tea and scones at 11:30 am.

“Wee Jack” found my client guilty — I can’t remember what the charge was — and later i went into see him in his chambers for a wee chat. As I was leaving he made a point of making sure that I pass on his regards to my dad — his closest friend from many years before.

” Aye — make sure you tell yer old man you were in my court …… and Lost!”

    And I did.

When Clydebank was virtually abandoned and ignored by national politicians, guys like “wee Jack” did what they could at a local level for the town — even though there was no money and hellish little support from the woman with the Iron Knickers in Downing Street and her crew.

So on Friday I will be going to say cheerio to Wee Jack who just happened to be a Big Man!

I stood in the jungle that night in 74. It was actually one of the most electric atmospheres I’ve ever experienced at CP, but twenty minutes into the match it all became surreal. Three off and it could easily have been more. Lorenzo knew it was the only way AM would get through, and it worked.

However grudges cant last that long surely.

Anyone know why Bayern ultras are waving gay pride flags? (I have also seen these flown by The GB) – Not that there is anything In the slightest wrong with it, infact it should be commended to break down perceived

  13. * * * IMPORTANT MESSAGE * * *

As most will be aware, back in November, over £1300 was raised on behalf of HCPT group 77, of which my daughter Laura is a member of.

This £1300, has allowed full funding for 2 desperately needy children to travel to Lourdes for the full Easter Week, on Pilgrimage with Group 77 of which Laura will be a full time carer, and is so excited about.

A young 14 year old boy will have the time of his life accompanied by Laura ( will not put up details on him, or the other child) with numerous other Children on this fantastic trip.

Now as a thanks to CQN, and for those who would appreciate

Laura will happily take names or photo’s of those dearest to you and who have been lost, and whom you would like prayed for at Lourdes Grotto, their names or photo will be placed at the Grotto with the visit, these are collected daily and prayed for.

The exact same offer is open for those who you would like added to the Daily petition Prayer box, who desperately need the help of both “Our Lady of Lourdes” and Prayers to support them through current difficult times

You can drop Laura a message on HCPT77@hotmail.co.uk where arrangements can be agreed

Thanks Again to CQN for supporting this brilliant opportunity for those in desperate need

    Hail Hail

We (Laura) are not looking for anything in return

This about taking names of those loved and in need of prayers, and the task of such being delivered in Lourdes Grotto

Just drop a message to the hotmail address with name/petition

    Hail Hail

  16. I like golf – watching, not playing, far too lazy for that

But Masters weekend and Ryder cup weekend are a nightmare

All these amateur golfers in the pub with their golf gear on creaming themselves and forcing the rest of us to listen to their pseudo-intellectual golf chat as if they are experts, which they arent

There’s something about golfers I just don’t get – I think it’s the ‘Look at me, I’m a golfer and i’m just back from the pub golf outing’ attitude as they come back to the pub steaming on the only day a year they are allowed out

    Give me peace

Tell her to make sure she pops into the Au Roi Albert Cafe on the Rou de la Grotte in the evenings for a drink and a singsong.

  19. Morning all. Dreich down here today. I imagine the dark clouds are even thicker in Govan. I’m actually getting excited about their game against Dundee Und. that’s never happened to me before. Ever. I’m dreaming of a hammering; such a hammering that puts the final nail in the coffin.

    It’s cyclists that I can’t stand.

Don’t get me wrong – I use my bike myself.

I don’t see the need to dress like a Tour de France winner. That gear must cost a load as well.

Your daughter couldn’t be doing anything better. I’m sure she’ll have the time of her life. I was one of the sick so well looked after in Lourdes about 18 months ago. The young carers were a joy. Thank God for them.

The middle class kids with proper strips were usually easy meat.

All I’ll say is try cycling 60-80 miles in normal clothes and see how your undercarriage feels after it.

The top half, not so important, although proper cycling jerseys have pockets in the back that are handy for snacks, keys, wallet etc.

My bugbear used to be beginner snowboarders that clearly had just started that would have spent hundreds on top of the range gear you could tell wouldn’t get used more than 4 or 5 times. Madness.

Its just another example of UEFA hypocrisy in my view. #

Zero tolerance with regards to Politics in UEFA competition should mean exactly that with no bending of the rules when it suits those running the game.

The waving of a Gay Pride banner, by some homophobic apologist, ain’t an apology either.

I was at the Quo concert in O2 Academy last night. Anyway at the end of the gig, as the place was emptying, one guy stood in middle of the hall and began screaming abuse at everybody. He was well drunk, had ripped off his shirt and looked like a heavier version of Phil Mitchell.

As his mates dragged him outside the raging bear turned round to expose a huge RFC tattoo 5 fag burns and all on his back.

    They really are cracking up.
