Every year we ask you to put your hand in your pocket for various causes and every year you react, but never more so than 2012. You responded magnificently to the Wee Oscar Appeal, which from Celtic fans in total raised £31k in a bucket collection in September and £27k at a race night last month.
It is breath-taking to see the work done by those who, without thought for their personal sacrifices, decided this young boy would get the best chance possible. The photographs of Oscar are an inspiration, but the work done by those who staged the race night and bucket collection – and brought a new CQN badge to life – is even more inspiring.
The events surrounding the charity golf day raised four-figure sums for Oscar, the Neuroblastoma Alliance, the Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust and The Haven in Blantyre, which supports people with life limiting illness. There were smaller donations too, each one a credit to the organisers and to those of you who contributed.
The overwhelming majority of this work, and pretty much all donations, are made by people who don’t want any thanks and would be horrified by publicity. In most instances the beneficiaries will never know their names. I’m in the really fortunate position that I get to see a lot of this happen and I can assure you it is awe inspiring. You are in the company of many great Celts.
This club is not Neil Lennon’s or Dermot Desmond’s, it’s yours. Celtic will win and lose many games but that will change nothing that is really important. You are the person who will make it a unique force for good in the world. That is our challenge for 2013.

There surely has to be more than a few of that mob who are cringing at the Green speech.. I’ve always said that when it comes to shame and embarrassment, the huns have got it covered. The guy Chuckles is somehow managing to add yet another dimension and that takes some doing. I cant make my mind up whether to treat it as comedy gold or something more sinister. This maniac is being given carte blanche as usual by the msm to cause as much havoc as he pleases, as long as he breathes life into the tribute act. Either Green is a nut-job or he’s acting like one for a reason. I’ll go with the latter, but whichever one it is will mean more tears for the hun, and the msm.

An excellent blog once again, very fitting. The forces of Mordor (been at The Hobbit today) were as triumphant as ever with their last triumphs, if only they had listened to you all those years ago. It really got me down when I would read your downbeat commentary about where Celtic were and where we were actually heading. I knew we were on the right track.
We have good men running Celtic, we always have really. It won’t be long now before we are Winning this ba***rdisation of the European Champions Cup again. The stars seem to be pointing to it happening in 2013, if not next May it is coming closer every day with Neil at the helm. Sir Furious knows how good Neil is with younger players. ;)
I am purring at our whole setup and makeup, at the end of the day it is just a game and that brings me crashing back down to earth in no time when I think of what is going on in this World.
As a few have already mentioned from what I have read, Paul deserves the most credit because he is the vehicle that has allowed certain things to happen.
I would like to wish Paul and all his immediate family (I think he would include CQN posters& lurkers) a Wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
I hope every supporter of Celtic and every person in this World who has the spirit of freedom, the spirit of hope and the spirit of humanity and dare I say it, the Spirit of Sporting Integrity, has the best Christmas ever and a fantastic New Year that surpasses anything they have ever been involved with previously.
