FRENCH FANCY FOR AMBROSE

0
CELTIC’S out of favour defender Efe Ambrose has been linked with a move to French outfit Bastia who are reported to be ready to offer a two-year deal.
The Nigerian defender has not played for the Hoops since July and, along with Kris Commons and Kristoffer Ajer, was left out of Brendan Rodgers’ 24-man Champions League squad.

Ambrose, who is out of contract in the summer, looks poised to quit the champions during the January transfer window, with the centre-back also believed to have received offers from China.

The erratic 28-year-old was signed by ex-Parkhead boss Neil Lennon from Israeli side Ashdod in August 2012 in a deal worth around £1million and has played 168 matches for the club.img_1802.jpg

His last outing came in the Champions League qualifier against Astana when a late goal from Leigh Griffiths gave the team an away 1-1 draw.

If Ambrose does make the move to Corsica, he will be joining a Bastia side that sit 14th in Ligue 1, just two points above the relegation zone.
Marseille have also been checking out his situation with Rodgers’ team.
Ambrose was an impressive performer in his first few seasons at Celtic and played a crucial role in the 2-1 victory over Barcelona in November 2012 in the Champions League. However after a series of crucial errors his confidence in a Celtic strip seemed to desert him and a move would be welcome for all parties.
Efe should leave Parkhead with his head held high.
