MIKAEL LUSTIG is delighted Craig Gordon is on the brink of pledging his future to Celtic and agreeing a new three-and-a-half year extension.
The 34-year-old Scotland international goalkeeper was a £3million target for Chelsea during the January transfer window.
And the Swedish defender admitted he could appreciate the quandary his team-mate found himself in.
Lustig said: “When a club of Chelsea’s stature come in for you, then it is fair that you stop and think for a minute.
“You could understand that he might have thought there was a little bit to think about it because it could have been a really tempting move.
“But it looks as though the club are making him an offer to stay here and I think we will all be pleased with that.
“He is a tremendous goalkeeper, which is why Chelsea wanted him, and if he decides that his long-term future is at Celtic then it will be a great boost for all of us.
“Craig has proved his worth time and time again here, at Champions League level, too.
“It is great news that he wants to stay.”
