The Celtic Story in 2088 will write about this time

804

When someone writes the Celtic Story on our 200th anniversary there will be a page about when The Thai Tims came to Glasgow.  It’s a part of the Celtic Story which reaches from 1888 to the present day, and, if we do our job as Celtic fans well, will ensure the character of the club retains a distinct and generous flavour.

The Thai Tims, formally the Good Child Foundation, arrive from Thailand next month and will perform at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow, on Thursday 10 May, tickets are £12 and £6 for kids.  If you have enjoyed them on YouTube, and I know you have…. buy a couple of tickets here or call 08444 77 1000 and get along before they’ve sold out.

You can also support the Good Child Foundation by contributing to the fundraising exercise via their Everyclick page.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you yesterday on the question about whether not registering players correctly was cheating.  Busy, busy.  Will get to it as soon as I can – no answering this question early, that’s cheating.

Issue 7 of CQN Magazine is out now! Go to the dedicated magazine site here to read it properly (which you’ll not be able to do below).

Bought my tickets for the game at Killie, hope we can show off the real trophy to the fans doon there………….

  6. When it comes to technical ability Lubo was the most complete player i’ve had the pleasure of watching over the years supporting Celtic. He could do almost anything with the ball at his feet and sometimes made the game look so easy you wondered why everyone wasn’t a footballer. The goal he scored against St.Johnstone at Parkhead form just a few yards from the corner flag was incredible.

We were truly blessed to have witnessed his unique talents in our beloved hoops and the memories he left will forever beautify my mind. Most definitely world class.Genius.

Lubo i love and thank you.

Come on, if Hunderwell fail to beat Killie – you would not be tempted to pay that wee £42 ( if poss) to win the league and wish them go bye :-)

  9. at the end of the Barnes debacle season we had a game against Aberdeen at Celtic Park.

    I think we won 5-0.

I was sitting in the front row at in the Lions stand.

    Lubo scored a goal.

The ball was hit so hard, so fast, so direct, I actually ducked as it hit the net.

  10. I do have a wee Lubo hang up in my memory bank.

see if we had kept him a year longer, and only played a few games.

    what if.

    at Seville ,

we had brought on Lubo , instead of young Maloney.

    just saying like.

The one he scored at Easter Road was unbelievable. The best 2 footed player i have seen in the hoops. When he trapped the ball with his bahookie v Hearts at CP was fantastic.

My claim to Celtic fame is this:

As you all know, I live in Slovakia and I went to Nitra for a weekend once and I was in a pub where I met a girl with a Scottish accent who was Slovak and she spoke to me and I discovered she was Lubo’s daughter. She gave me her father’s phone number and we spoke on the phone and he said next time you are coming to Nitra send me a message.

I have sent the message and await his reponse.

It is very likely that he will not respond – why would he? He doesn’t know me from Adam BUT he goes to the local Irish pub – The Irish Times pub (with Celtic on th wall).

Tomorrow I am travelling to another Slovak city – Banska Bystrica (a mining town) and I will travel to Nitra on Saturday afternoon. I know Lubo uses this pub and I hope he will meet me. I hope to see him more than anything in the world.

Wish me luck and I hope to see Celtic champions come Sunday and if not, the following week.

Knew you would say that mate!

Tell you what, I’ve got my seat beside that blue order mob and should we win firstly my thoughts will be with my family who will wish they were there, then next I’ll think of you and they say that’s one for MWD as well !!!!!!!!!

    Night all in celticland :0

  14. I’d pay to watch Lubo just run around with a ball at his feet in a park.

    So natural,it was almost hypnotic.

His left footer at Easrer Road was awesome and not in an American teenager way but truly awesome.

    Artist.

  15. I sometimes wish Lubo had got the opportunity to play in the current Barcelona side.Wow,that would be almost cruel to every other team.

Or,of course,i could have said The Lions. However i just couldn’t drop any of them.Even for Lubo.

From Experience I don’t think it will.

Lubo is very private so I doubt it.

    I live in hope.

  17. Just in the door from a dinner in London tonight.Bit too much to drink but still want to record my experience.

In the company was a Conservative MP,a political lobbyist,an editor of a London based paper,a trade body CEO and a few other South East England people.

When the inevitable discussion reached Rangers ( IA ) the level of knowledge/awareness surprised me.

The trade body man turned out to be a closet Rangers man but he was very quiet and guarded with his opinions.I was surprised how quickly the group mwarmed to the task that what was under scrutiny here was plain financial and sports cheating. There was absolutely no argument that Rangers ( IA ) would be found guilty on the Big Tax Case and they would go down for that but it was also understood that they had been ” probably ” in collusion with the SFA over registration of players.

I had prepared myself with a typical CQN position on the unfolding of events but was quickly overtaken by people who knew their stuff, including Ticketus/Octopus,and had no problem understanding that money had been stolen from the public purse and sports doping/cheating had occured and that the penalties needed to be faced.

The editor spoke last .One of my best friends in Scotland is a Rangers fan and I have told him plainly that the only fair result is for them to face their reality.Go down to the third division and work their way back up and demonstrate some degree of integrity.

The Rangers man grew even more quiet and I just wanted everyone on here to have witnessed this quite remarkable scene.

What a contrast to the supine Scottish media.

My greatest honour as a Celtic fan is this:

How many of my fellow supporters have Lubo Moravcik’s number on their phone?

    I am honoured.

I have had this for 3 years but I did not call him other than I was expected out of respect.

I still feel bad calling him.

The second greatest Celtic player in the last 20 years on your phone is an honour and it should not be taken lightly.
