128 seems impossibly indiscriminate

1423

Banning 128 fans seems impossibly indiscriminate.  I don’t know how it was decided but it sounds like “those eight columns and sixteen rows” – painting with a very broad brush.  If so, the Club must meet with those in the affected area as soon as possible to allow fans who have had nothing whatsoever to do with vandalism or dangerous behaviour to continue to follow their club.  If such a letter arrived on my doorstep, I would want to face the Club urgently.  We’ve all been tarred by the pyros, banners and vandalism, but some are paying a higher price.

Unless there is specific evidence against an individual, the default expectation must be that bans will be lifted after interview.

Back in July, after the Club and the Green Brigade met to agree a way forward following some early season Uefa disciplinary problems, we wondered if either could control every last hanger-on hoping to ‘stick it to the man’.  Statements in recent days from both organisations show how impossible this has proven to be.

When I wrote my article on Saturday I didn’t expect the condemnation of the previous night’s incidents, from all sections of the support, to be so comprehensive.  We’ve seen elsewhere the damage procrastination and deflection can be.  There is no need to deflect.  We will not blame Chelsea fans. Nor is there need for ‘whataboutery’. Vandalising seats and throwing flares is now endemic in our game but Celtic fans are judged by higher standards. The Celtic support is characterised by by enormous generosity. Still.

    Withoot papers?

Does that mean tony Donnelly and his forefathers are wobas?

  2. tonydonnelly,

That slur is nothing to do with political correctness or your obsession with the GB. It is insulting and derogatory, you are a foolish and idiotic man to think otherwise

  3. I used it a lot in Canada, no one bothered, if it’s a no in here ok hands didn’t know, appols. To any one offended, but my god I honestly must say you all got in quick with out giving me a chance to explain myself, kinda like you are accusing Celtic for doing that , double standards, or is just me personally. Your after,?

I didn’t know ‘guapo’ meant that in the past but it doesn’t know. It means handsome.

I mention this in case any CQNer ever makes a big impression on a Spanish-speaking lady, she pays him a compliment and he takes the huff. The contemporary Spanish word for swagger thing, which also has the ruffian and pimp connotations is “chulo” (Italian speakers note ch as in chimney, or there could be more trouble). If a thing is “chulo”, it’s good, but curiously, it’s not a nice thing to call a person.

  5. Googybhoy…

I used to do a bit of business around Milan and Turin areas, before the advent of the euro wiped out any competitiveness we ever had in Italy,so spent some time over there in the past.

The racist slurs from the Milanese in particular when they spoke about Southern Italians would have made even Charles Green blush.

It is very much two countries divided by the Olive line….North v South.

And yes,the Milanese do call the Southerners Wops.

I’m sure it was just an off the cuff remark mate and that you didn’t mean anything by it.

Ironically though you are criticising folks for finding you guilty in a snap judgement which is what you find so admirable in the Plc board in the aftermath of last Friday

Not nice being found guilty before you can defend yourself Tony Bhoy!

    Hail Hail bud

I repeat, insulting and derogatory. That’s an explanation and please forego the insincere apology, it means nothing and well you know it

The Honest mistake. I am not argueing with anyone I have given my point of view S.F.T.B. and Auldheid replied giving me there point of view to which I have answered that fella in my opinion is how a debate goes. Your blog name suits you of course its just another honest mistake on your part. H.H.

In France if someone calls you a mackerel, they’re not complimenting your fragrance or your shiny, scaly complexion nor the likelihood that you’ll take the bait.

They are actually calling you a pimp.

As I said, first time I didn’t know it was racist, made my appols, but I so know breaking seat is not right, plus I was just wondering if I was in the company of anyone who called out to some that they where orange #%^*+=<? Al these oh holier than though that post in here , aye right,

    Jf.

You’re arguing with how you think things are panning out from limited blog exposure. Auldheid is stating facts gained from his experience.

There’s no point in pursuing this.

  12. I’m similar to Tony Donnelly in one respect, and that is I can’t stand political correctness.Possibly because I can’t stand the type of politics and politicians responsible for its prominence above common decency and common sense.

But Heyho Old Tony D has just been undone by his own petard.

He’s accused people of making snap judgements and spat the dummy oot.

    Haha…you couldn’t make it up,ey?

  13. Tony

I hope all offended will accept your apology.

I’m sure everyone has made off the cuff remarks they later regret.

We can all get carried away by our emotions in here.

I just wish we could all remember when posting to each other we are all Celtic supporters.

Auldheid. I don’t think anything has been said on CQN that makes me think you will be given the inside track by Celtic on the issue. It for me all points to you let the chance slip through your hands when you withdrew resolution 12 even had you forced the board to knockback the resolution you would have shown you had teeth and in my opinion maintained credability. The fact you did withdraw the resolution again in my opinion showed weakness now I do not expect you to agree with anything I have said and that’s fine by me and only time will tell if you are indeed correct as you say or have been double bluffed as I see it. H.H

    ==================================

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but trusting someone is not showing weakness.

I would say it was quite the reverse to put how others might judge you (as you have just done) into the hands of someone else, but perhaps less so if reason to trust has been given.

If that trust is betrayed then the betrayers are the losers, not the betrayed.

Trust is a two way street.

The Honest Mistake. A blog is a place were posters give there point of view on many subjects CQN is such a blog. Now I explained to you that there was no argument but a debate you have responded with the word argument again it is obvious there is no point in replying to you as you already have an entrenched view.Me I am open minded and if I am convinced by reasoned debate I am open to changing my mind you fella hold only one view and your view is definitely right so good for you just scroll past as you know your right.H.H.
