128 seems impossibly indiscriminate

1423

Banning 128 fans seems impossibly indiscriminate.  I don’t know how it was decided but it sounds like “those eight columns and sixteen rows” – painting with a very broad brush.  If so, the Club must meet with those in the affected area as soon as possible to allow fans who have had nothing whatsoever to do with vandalism or dangerous behaviour to continue to follow their club.  If such a letter arrived on my doorstep, I would want to face the Club urgently.  We’ve all been tarred by the pyros, banners and vandalism, but some are paying a higher price.

Unless there is specific evidence against an individual, the default expectation must be that bans will be lifted after interview.

Back in July, after the Club and the Green Brigade met to agree a way forward following some early season Uefa disciplinary problems, we wondered if either could control every last hanger-on hoping to ‘stick it to the man’.  Statements in recent days from both organisations show how impossible this has proven to be.

When I wrote my article on Saturday I didn’t expect the condemnation of the previous night’s incidents, from all sections of the support, to be so comprehensive.  We’ve seen elsewhere the damage procrastination and deflection can be.  There is no need to deflect.  We will not blame Chelsea fans. Nor is there need for ‘whataboutery’. Vandalising seats and throwing flares is now endemic in our game but Celtic fans are judged by higher standards. The Celtic support is characterised by by enormous generosity. Still.

But some people just don’t get that.

Burgas-agree re Lustig, being selfish ,if he is out for a couple of months and has also missed out on the World Cup,he will stay under the radar of other clubs and sign a new deal.

  3. Dundee Utd played barca 4 times in competitive games- won every game. Never forget John Clark’s goal. Jim mcLean – what a tactician

It’s always been the case that the actions of a minority have consequences for the majority

As for suspensions for people not even at the game is there a possibility that Celtic have the names of the persons who they had allocated tickets too and these persons in turn have passed them onto others at this time unknown to Celtic

  5. Justafan-pedalling his rag’s agenda on the radio.Bhoy sent me more lies from front page of The Hun today, said Barca asked Celtic to make sure any banned fans didn’t get in to game tonight. No name of course from “the Barcelona official”.The type of rubbish we should challenge but don’t.

Yes, looking forward to it. Been a slow work day in the desert and already quaffed a good bottle of the red stuff. 3 hours to go and just about to start on my dwindling supply of single malt; should last out till Friday though.

Just my guess on the players tonight :))

    Why be so abrasive?

I wanted to ask you if, back in the day, you supported Desmond White and the Kellys when they nearly put us out of existence and treated legendary employees disgracefully?

What did you think of the Celts for Change?

Did you agree with Bob Kelly fining the players 8 weeks wages after Montevideo?

My point is that many of our club’s younger fans have a healthy scepticism of authority and are more vocal than we were. So, criticise and make your points by all means but don’t make gratuitous insults. You demean us all when you do.

At the start of each weekly press conference Celtic should read out the litany of untrue stories printed by the media – would be good viewing.

health and safety right now a wee bit OTT.

Tony I disagree with this statement totally this is so uneducated its unreal, are you happy for people to die at work???

  13. Neustadt…

I am convulsing with laughter at your clip.

    Thanks mate.

    Made my day.

  14. I normally travel on very good flights, with a very good company, they give me some preferences being a member, and I like my allocated seat.

Last friday I had to travel on their budget airline.

At check in there was a drunk guy. I was sure he wouldnt be allowed to check in.

I got through security, the guy was behind me, he had to go through a couple of times, as he emptied his pockets, fags, lighter taken off him, matches off him, a bit snappy with all around. I was sure he wouldnt be allowed to go through.

The flight got called. The guy came away from the bar , finishing his drink, went to the front of the queue as if he had priority boarding. I was sure he wouldnt get on.

I got to my allocated seat. the guy was allready in it.

Somewhat loud he was allready sitting there.

    Obviously drunk, a bit obnoxious.

I asked the stewardess to help me. I was sure he would be removed from the flight.

    She said sit anywhere.

I took a seat, others were not happy that I moved into their “spare” seat.

During the flight, the guy asked for more drink, he got louder, he played with his fags.

I was sure he wouldnt get any worse he did.

On arrival at Glasgow, I was sure he would be lifted.

    ———–

Today the airline has suspended my membership, seems there was a report that I had a seat, misbehaved, and am under investigation.

    The police have been told.

Its ok though, another 127 people on the flight are suspended as well.

    That couldnt happen could it.

  15. Calabam….

It’s bad that people die at work….correct.

But H and S implementation in this country is beyond a joke now.

    Risk assessments for literally everything.

Not about preserving life really about minimising litigation.

    You probably know that anyway.

What do you think the MSM are going to spin out more?

    1) NL endorsing the action of the club;

    2) NL refusing to comment or answer questions on the behaviour, therefore easily interpreted as not condemning it and not endorsing the action of the club.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

They can ‘spin’ until their erse-cheeks come oot their ears …….. Tell them nothing, deal with our issues ourselves, and ban the barstewards from Celtic Park…….the football media in this Country have not earned any respect from anyone…….they are all cockroaches, with apologies to the cockroaches…….!!…….apart from that, rally looking forward to watching the game tonight…win, lose or draw, ‘ cause we are CELTIC, the best Club in the World, and in the Parallel Universe…..hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  17. From FrPaulStone

For the benefit of anyone who is confused…liquidation is NOT a “change in corporate structure”. It is the END of a corporate structure.

    Reply from seed bhoy

@Swan70 @FrPaulStone @ScottishFA Corporate structure change is what Man Utd done when they delisted from stock market and went private.

So the @ScottishFA will not define a club as it blows the same club myth out of the water. Extreme cowardice/incompetence.

@RFC_Official Did you actually read the statement? It said Newco can’t claim Oldco’s history. Do you understand that?

You really have to wonde what lies the sfa have told on sevcos behalf if we have uefa and ECA believing that rangers “changed structure” …

  18. Ger 57 when you see me insulting anyone, do me a favour, scroll back and see who the someone was, and I think you will find that’s where the insults came from, scroll back all day if you like you won’t see me name calling anyone unless they have had a crack at me, and if they have as I have said before, I don’t get bullied , I give it back, so there you go, as I keep saying dish out, your getting it back, regarding the Kelly’s and the Whites, all water under the bridge I didn’t have an opinion then we won everything so as far as I was concerned….hey! Let’s get another bottle of Lanny, I left for Canada the week we beat Real Madrid 2-0 that was my last game before I left for Canada, after that we had some rough patches, I came back in 2003 and well you know the rest BOOM, European final leagues wins, cup wins, last 16 in CL 4 times, no more RFC, clubs loaded, my mate have told me that I can never go back to live in Canada because it just wouldn’t be right, I do tease them, so they keep buying me pints ;)
