A goal down in the second half, having not made a chance worthy of the name. But the Celtic story was going to be told. Hearts pushed, kicked and wasted every possible second of the opening 82 minutes of the Scottish Cup Final. Their game plan worked, for 10 minutes the outcome looked in doubt, until Odsonne Edouard out-witted Heats ‘keeper, Zlamal. Instead of shooting the Celtic striker knocked the ball forward. By this point Zlamal’s momentum was unstoppable, he cleared the Celtic striker off his feet. The penalty was inevitable and a consequence of the maturity of a 21-year-old.
Odsonne’s craft for the winning goal was better still. He was off like lightening after Mikael Lustig’s header put the ball beyond the Hearts back line. Watch Odsonn’e body shape, he opened his foot and drew his right shoulder back, as though to place the ball to Zlamal’s bottom left corner. The keeper followed the body language but Odsonne turned his foot at the last minute and chipped the ball into the opposite side of the net. It was delicious.
I did not think anything in domestic football could match the Invincible Treble, secured in such drama against Aberdeen in 2017, but as this journey of success has continued, the drama, the importance of each subsequent trophy, mounts.
Yesterday we retained the Scottish Cup for the ninth time in our history; the first time we won three-in-a-row and the first time in world football a Treble Treble has been completed. Whatever it is that we are living through right now, let it’s reign be long and glorious!
Condolences of the family and friends of Harry Hood, who we lost earlier. Harry was part of the successful Celtic team on the early 70s and was the last Celtic player to score a hat-trick against Oldco Rangers. On leaving football became a successful business man, running some of the best restaurants, hotels and pubs in Lanarkshire.
With the Treble Treble only minutes in the history books, Celtic wasted no time in confirming Neil Lennon would become permanent manager. We will pick this up later.

Seriously
Neil Lennon
“a feeling we could and should have done better”
It’s the break in Gotham
By the way … Celtic will only be in any pot if Neil can guide us there
Yet again …. entitlement isn’t just for Govan :-)
Yep Gerry that was my initial feeling. I guess like the rest I was influenced by all the big names the papers had us linked with.
GFTB
I think Neil will be a resounding success… one game lost since February with another mans team

You thought the Huns would finish in the bottom six this season, i told you they would finish second.
That surely calls your judgement in to question.
Big Packy,
what does gfam mean?
Putting all the NFL stuff aside, he’s the cheap choice, but he’s ours now ?
So put it this way, given what we’ve continually seen from Snakeoil Pete do you honestly think he’ll back Neil with a squad revamp?
Asking for a million friends ?????
Sid 10.26pm
That’s poor …
I am usually wrong but you one of these days I might be right :-)
Canny believe you kept that … but it made me laugh ? (at maself)
Great to do the treble treble, but a bit of a sour taste in the mouth with the board’s press release regarding Neil so close after the finish. He is not the man to help push us on after a treble treble.
It was a case of burying bad news if there ever was one- it wasn’t even announcing Neil as the new manager; it was announcing that an offer had been made! This must be a first for any club. We now make announcement when we make an offer- will this approach be continued into the transfer window?
Corkcekt 10.24pm
So was aye …again I loved Brendan and wish him no ill … but I sincerely hope he was a bit gutted when watching our bhoys celebrate yesterday … no malice from me, Brendan delivered the same league titles as my Ronny :-)
Rafa or Jose
Neil Francis sounds better
Is it safe? HH

PL- no major rebuild needed! Well that is encouraging news!
You would think posters who don’t like this blog and post many bad things about it would give it a wide berth
I don’t like “follow follow” or “rangers media” or sentinel Celts … guess what ? That’s why I don’t post on any of them
Firstly, and most importantly, congratulations to the Celtic players, management and supporters for yesterday’s victory at Hampden which enabled us to win the Scottish Cup and ensure the Treble Treble. A magnificent achievement for everyone associated with the Club. I am very, very proud to be a Celtic supporter. I was less enthused by the Tweet from the Club regarding the offer of the managerial post to Neil, which I read on the train on my way to Celtic Park for the Rugby. However, I will be 100% behind Neil and the team next season as we strive for 9 in a row and, dare I say it, a Quadruple Treble:-)) COYBIG
Weefra 10.36pm
Always safe :-)
Apologies if I was a duck (dick) last night but went into overdrive when you said other posters drove you away

Just for the record i think if backed Lenny will be a success at least domestically.
I have zero faith he will be properly backed by our board, if by the time our preseason training resumes and at least 3 proper significant signings aren’t added to the squad we will fail CL qualification.
This is not the season to rely on and see if we can pick up a EPL cast off on deadline day.
Every time someone has posted about BR poor record in Europe i have challenged it. 2CL qualifications and 2 post Christmas Europa, I’d bite your hand of for that poor record to be repeated.
We shall see HH
And do it begins, this is all part of project Old Firm and PL is well on board
No major rebuild, really, have you been watching at all.
He needs at least 2 Cb’s that should go straight in the team, a right back to go straight in the team, someone to succeed Broonie and a striker so that’s 5 first teamers
That’s not considering LB cover
Sid 10.45pm
Totally get some fans questioning Neil’s appointment… I think it’s obvious … why take a job when offered hee-haw when (if) you succeed .. it is now Neil’s job to lose … the internet is a strange place what would posters be posting when Wim Jansen got appointed … some of the shoite about Neil is hunlike … in fact the Huns stand up for Gerrard and he has won the square root of fcuk all … ah the good old internet when people who can type can re-write their own history … that’s who need to be called out not Neil Lennon.
GFTB
Never even noticed Gerry, hope you and yours are well. HH
Fellow Celts

I apologised to Mick after a stupid comment … I regard BMCUWP as a friend

WEEFRATHETIM, nothing but respect for you and especially as your bobbys friend, ive never bullied you and never will ,hope the animals are ok.hh.

I cannot go bullies keyboard or otherwise,. I find in real life they are the biggest shitebags going. I’m in my mid 70s now, but was brought up in Govan in the late 40s 50s and early 60s. Hardmen??? these supposed hardmen widnae last 10 minutes wi these guys. Lol. ??????????????????. HH
Hello again all you young rebels.
Not read back yet on the blog, still a bit groggy, but i take it
we’re all united behind Lenny going forward?
What do you mean we’re not? oh well, the Celtic family.. sigh..
Wha’a like us?
Our youths played a team from Mt Martha yesterday and won
11-0 the weemhan was on fire and smashed home 4 in the first
half, but the story is, the manager of the other team is a huge
tim and when i gave him the ” hard luck you met us when we’re
buzzing ” he just said ” you’ll never wipe the smile off this face, a
rebel treble woweee ”
Now thats the part of the Celtic family i like 8-))))))
H.H Mick
BIG PACKY 1
Thanks for that buddy. Bobby??? We met on here something like 7 or 8 years ago on here and have been brilliant mates since. I know he went through a terrible time with his health recently. I supported him throughout. As is known on here, I have had a terrible time with illhealth the past 6 months. Bobby was there for me all the way. Thankfully, both of us are through the worse of it and are tickety boo at last. Should have heard it when we were both unwell, was like fkn Casualty. Lol. Cheers buddy. HH
stats are a funny thing.
measuring the same number of matches since NFL (gbh) took over.
and comparing the previous same number of matches for Brendan.
Neil is the better manager,
gordybhoy, your right I never noticed.
Come on Lenny, with serious backing from the Board, Celtic can get an incredible 9 Titles on the spin and hopefully a better show in Europe.
It has been shown that this REMARKABLE Celtic squad has been running on empty. I’d definitely prioritise League and European games next Season over Domestic Cup games.
We need to get in 3 or 4 First Team players to really help the Bhoys continue this Incredible run of success.
A Treble of Trebles – Celtic – In Scotland as well.
MAGICAL.
PETEC
How ye doing ya rascal you. Haven’t blethered for ages. The only time I get to talk to you on the phone is when you are visiting our Swindon CSC. Lol. Hope your well Peter and look forward to meeting you sometime at CP. HH
He’ll be spinning in his grave.
EDDIEINKIRKMICHAEL on 26TH MAY 2019 10:11 PM
I agree with much of that.
For many, the issue now seems to be less a lack of confidence in NFL but more a lack of faith in the board to support NFL.
St Stivs comments about stats for both NFL & BR are noteworthy.
My question for all is this.
If BR was/is the benchmark for where our search for a new manager should have started then how come that sucessful candidate is now the bete noire of what seems the vast majority of Celtic fans?
Recruiting such a candidate was a confidence booster for Celtic fans but for him, regardless of all the rhetoric, it was a stepping stone to what he wanted. Celtic were not what he wanted, merely a convenient job till the right one came along.
We can blame PL or DD or the whole blooming board, but nothing changes the fact that a man who we all loved & loved as Celtic manager did a runner in the middle of the night & left our club with no meaningful staff torun the football side. Whatever else went down – that was his choice alone.
NFL walked away in 2014 but after the league was won.
That’s the difference in the two men & how they feel about Celtic FC.
Keep well
HH
WeefratheTim,
HH m8ty,
What a Wonderful weekend.
Celtic 2-1 on such a special date.
I hope you get along to the olde Paradise as much as is possible next Season. God Bless ye Bro.

Nip over to Sentinel Celts around 22.30pm seemingly I make fun of dementia … considering in the late 70s both grandmothers didn’t really know me (I was 7) but why let the facts get in the way when trying to score points or maybe even just getting a reply to a shoitey post :-)
I was a bit disgusted with a post on the unhappy channel (22.30pm( suggesting I was making fun of Billy McNeill …. sometimes. People should not make assumptions
WeefratheTim
Magical.
Is the reality of the SPFL too much for prima donna managers?
Not the fantasy world of EBT Oldco.
The real world where money is tight & financial rewards are low.
Where as a coach you have to earn your wage.
Not by spending billions gifted from an Arab or an Oligarch to hoover up every bit of talent that you can show a leg to.
No, by actually looking at what you can get for what money is available & trying to mould a team out of them.
A winning team where you players’ fitness levels are better than the rest.
Where your tactics are better than the rest.
Where your coaching of those tactics to your players produces something greater than the sum of the parts.
Where the chemistry & group dynamics are so unique & special that bonds between players especially but also between coaches & players are unbreakable no matter what the threat.
There’s a case to be made that such a coach, operating in such a contrained market, with such relatively limited resources YET who manages to achieve success is as good a coach or maybe even better than those who have billions to spend to create a winning team.
All successful managers in Scotland have to be made of this stuff.
Jock Stein was.
I won’t put anyone alive on that level, but, as many others intimate…
It really is all about what the board are going to do to support the new manager to help raise the club to levels we once knew – as a force in European football.
Night Night
GFTB,
I have enough problems to worry about before anyone elses.
Celtic are going for 10 Domestic Trophies in a row.
Truly Magical.
Deeeelighted to see that Change UK are getting the Ridicule they deserve.
Pathetic group.
