Rangers also use very attacking full backs though. Despite their goals conceded being lower.

I get your point though. We do need a better balanced alternative approach …. If only to change it up against opposition who are well drilled against our regular style.

  2. The Huns are now slight favourites with William Hill to win the title and many on here agree. When we were stronger favourites than they are now, many on here still made THEM favourites.

    Hmm…

  3. The Battered Bunnet on

Bada, fair point. The diminishing of Kyogo’s contribution is a significant factor in our current situation.

The manager has to start managing.

  4. An Tearmann,

I was never comfortable with mini Lawwell’s appointment.

    Nepotism is like masonic, imho.

More so, when a football scout I know told me, last week, that mini Lawwell was a secretary in the City Group.

He is responsible (if any Lawwell ever takes responsibility) for -£20m worth of duds.

    Think about that.

One poster said 22 signings and only Johnson is a first team pick.

That failure would have anyone, in any job, sacked.

But we know that can’t happen.

  5. To my mind, our ineffective wingers, are causing Kyogo’s form dip, nothing else, very poor tactics from BR. If Erling Haaland or Harry Kane were our strikers , they would fail to score as well.

    BR MUST, cange tactics.

We need a protest/ demo at Parkhead to let the board, and football that this current state of affairs cannot be allowed to continue.

    KINGLuBo ( Apathy CFC )

  6. B78- IMO Celtic should always play with 2 strikers, maybe 1 v good European teams, with an extra midfielder, Brendan needs to mix it up now and again, we are going side to side too often as the wingers aren’t getting behind opponents back line

  7. Valebhoy

Only a couple of board members are in executive roles …..the rest are not exec roles and so they are not involved day to day or even week to week.

Unless you are really not very clever it’s fairly easy to understand what those executive roles are.

  8. Let’s All @ 9:28

“to be honest any discussions on the strength of our squad or our signing strategy are a bit irrelevant now.”

I’d respectfully disagree. Not long ago, many were told on here that we didn’t understand the window and not to offer an opinion until it had closed.

Now it has, we can’t suggest it’s too late. On the contrary, now is the perfect time to consider strategy and plan for the next window and our overall goal.

    Currently, not good enough

Still cookin ffs i forgot you were in the oven.

Your the one abusing, dont overdo your ruminating

Your da(you intro’d him)would be birling in his grave at such typed abuse, your pretentious misuse of irish(spelling, and confused symbols) and

colloquial English, more importantly your penny insults ‘Brendan out” etc whilst not looking at the other side of the coin.ie his appointees and backers.

You want to appear from nowhere, come on criticising Celtic be prepared to have it met.

  10. Bada Bing

Not meaning to sound like ‘blame the manager’ on this but both broony and my son (who worked there for a period) told me how obsessed Brendan was about the data.

Everything from physical data from training (he had a report on the squad by 2pm each day as to how they trained) to performance data with a massive focus on protecting the ball and pass completion. That above all seemed to dictate how we played. It kind of mitigates against what you are suggesting being adopted. It also maybe explains his intial reticence about Hatate who does take some low % passes on. It also explains his taking off Bernabei so promptly yesterday after their goal.

  11. Bada Bing

I should have said I kinda agree with you that a bit more risk taking with a really fast press for recovery is a preferred route for me.

  12. Burnley78

    What do they do then?

    Do they have a point?

Go on, explain for the thick, wise arse.

  13. Glenowen

May be wrong but i would interpret letsall’s post as making do as best we can with our current squad til seasons end.

Unless results dont go our way then we can retro shred past decisions like who we should have been/not been bought/sold.

    Its how the blog works

Still no replies on what qualifications Mark Lawwell has.

    have you tried linkedin ?

  15. Hot smoked

Funny but on follow follow post the window they weee still about 55%45% saying we would win it.

Personally we have a good few and a manager who has been over the course and distance and won. They have few who have but not many.

  16. An Tearmann

The reality, as we all know, is that we are stuck with what we have.

I don’t know any Celtic fan who thinks that this squad is good enough.

That is why mini Lawwell and his masters are getting it tight.

Unless Rodgers can make a silk purse we are fecked.

  17. Just thinking about accountants and those I’ve come across in my life. They are badly needed, but should never be CEO’s because the are incapable of lateral thinking in the main.

The players I’d keep are MOR, Kyogo, Hatate, CCV anCalmac. possibly Bernardo and Daizen. The rest would not be missed, imo

    KINGLubO

  18. An T

I agree, there’s nothing we can add to the squad for this season. Let’s All made a good point.

Like you, I’m keen to encourage debate and not stifle it. As you say, it’s how blogs work

Hopefully, we see plenty of it. Transfer policy, strategy, key personnel, successes, failures etc.

    It’s good to talk

  19. Haaland and Kane struggling if they got the same service ? Try taking a pen off Kane and see how far you get. Kyogo steps back when we’re awarded pens, that’s not what a Celtic striker should do. He should be demanding the spot kicks.

24 league games in and I don’t see much changing, it’s more hope than expectation that we’ll see the best of Kyogo at this point.

I wouldn’t be averse to starting Idah against Hibs. That seems to me to be a more realistic chance of things changing.

  20. BurInley 78

I presume you are collating all the data on the job responsibilities for all the hard working folk on our two boards.

    Can’t be easy.

But then you’re much more intelligent.

  21. Round 24 Superbru Update

It’s been a difficult weekend in the Celtic family so I will keep this brief.

We’ve had a low scoring week in Superbru but 2 punters did successfully predict a draw at Pittordrie and one even got the exact score points.

Our top 3 this week were:-

    1. Disco Desk- 9 pts

    2. Ayrshiretim- 7.5 pts

    3. McKenna_88- 7 pts

Four punters managed to score exactly 1 point- The class of 67, Paddy’s Maw, Bada Bing and Scaniel.

The arbitrary award of the wooden spoon (obviously acting under advice from Peter Lawwell) was given by the computer to Bada Bing.

The overall position now reads as :-

    1. BC Milan- 151 pts

    2. Leggy- 149 pts

    3. Billy Bhoy 142.5 pts

while down in David Martindale territory, we have

    Friesdorfer- 69.5 pts

    Partizan- 78 pts

    Cosy Corner Bhoy- 80 pts

The deadline for Round 25 is Tuesday night at 7.45 pm. As well as the 6 midweek fixtures on Tuesday and Wednesday, we have 3 postponed matches taking place after the Scottish Cup Weekend, on the 14th February that are included in Round 25 game week. This is an excellent chance to break the best weekly points total set recently by Bada Bing of 15 points.

Interesting to see if we are predicting Sevco will be ahead of us with 2 home games v Aberdeen and Ross County while we must travel to Hibs.

    Tx again for yr support

  22. As much as Daizen has his faults, his workrate will be a welcome addition to the fold on Wednesday. Despite our current state, we’ve got to stay behind the team and be as united as we can. We’re in a dogfight now, maybe like it used to be when Rangers were alive, so buckle up.

  23. Was Lawwell returning a factor in Ange leaving? I’m sure he new all about Lawwell’s reputation.

  24. We missed so many good chances yesterday that it’s hard not to fall into the trap of thinking it was just one of those days.

Defense is a bigger concern for me. Even our supposedly best available defender for selection Scales positioning sense is dreadful and he loses concentration too easily panicking in the process.

  25. Valebhoy

Of course we are stuck with who we have mate,i know plenty who think we can still win the league, points will be dropped before seasons end

maybe a front 2 as Bada suggests.i thought idah had a good game when on,bringing kyogo more into the game and not having him more isolated.

Yup Mark Lawell is getting it tight,Peter with his nigh on a ¼ of 1% shareholding is not the master,he who does the employing was on the golf course in a pro am thro the week.those things are for another day, there is a league to win and we both want that

    HH

  26. you just have to look at their goal yesterday 2 centre backs and 1 opposition striker , why is there as much space between our centre backs , 1 should be tight with the striker and the other 1 sweeping close behind the other , schoolboy stuff , who does the coaching or do they just make it up as they go along.

  27. Bhoyjoebelfast on

    KING LUBO @1.03

They (custodians) of the purse, in my mind, did not bring quality to Celtic in January any amount of protest will not alter this, the custodians know all about fan displeasure… they dont care.

  28. Thought Kyogo was more effective in the latter stages of the game, playing deeper running at the defence.

  29. RC on 4TH FEBRUARY 2024 1:40 PM

it is a toss up between AJ and AR for the right back slot as both are as bad as each other.

    —————–

    I’d rather have a starting back 4 of …..

    AJ , SW, ROKI, LS.

You can then have a back 3 when AJ Moves up n down .

Where we struggle (Ange too) is a misplaced pass and there is no structure in the middle of the park and we don’t have enough pace to get back .

It resembles the keystone cops or bennyhill at times …….

  30. Just a wee thought.

WHAT IF, we were to start slagging off Adidas products on social media, and telling why to Adidas we are doing it. They would be obliged I think, to respond and maybe threaten to drop their sponsorship, just a thought.

    Might work, dunno
