The more I think about it the bigger my mirth gets.
The game was riveting ,lot of mistakes but great entertainment .
The current 3-3 cup holders will be miffed at the thought of having to face us another twice.

I was always led to believe….semi finals usually poor nervy affairs..only thing that matters is getting to the final …nothing else
*absolutely, I’ve been to more than a few semis in my youth, my last one was a midweek game against Dundee, I left the country a couple of months later, it was a drab game which we won 1-0 courtesy of a Ronnie Glavin goal after a Tommy Gemmell blunder, who cares we had reached the final, in a season where we won 3 cups but lost the league, which we won beating Airdrie 3-1 courtesy of 2 Paul Wilson and a Pat McCluskey penalty goals.
My first ever semi was also against Airdrie which we won 4-0, that was the John Hughes show against his near neighbours, all goals cored in the first half with Scotland goalie Lawrie Leslie having to pick the ball out of the net at the Celtic end of Hampden.
Unfortunately, we lost the final after a replay against a provincial side led by a former Celtic captain and coach.
The only reason I recall both as they were my first and last SC semis.
ERATIC- no reason ever to give MOTM to a player from the winning team,Aberdeen had better performers than us ,in a lot of positions IMO

VINNIETHEDOG – Absolutely spot on. Dont listen to the blind dramatic media – during that period , Celtic had 80% possession and created numerous chances. Matt Oriely confirmed the pitch got dry and sticky – I hear its being mowed for the game tomorrow.
Well played and well done Celtic – Defensive frailties will be sorted off season – for now I hope we outscore our opponents in the run in – I think we have the firepower middle and front
the long wait is over on
I do try , as I get older ( 62 this year ) not to get cynical but it does get harder.
So , today, we got through to a Scottish cup final by the skin of our teeth.
Rewind to 1988 , 87 minutes into a semi final v Hearts and a goal down. Our centenary season Double hanging in the balance.
As we all know we won that game and made it to and won the final.
After that semi final ( admittedly a little different from today) I didn’t spend one microsecond wondering why we left it so late , or who was to blame for us being a goal down with mere minutes to go.
All I cared about was that the team I loved had made it through to the final.
No soul searching, no finger pointing.
Just elation and optimism that we’d win the final.
I miss that feeling.

Scales instead of Lagerbielke is the reason we are losing goals from crosses.Brendan would need to explain that to me,not a clue what he is seeing there.

Good morning all.
Of course we are all glad we are through to final.
Just saying it was a hard watch but I get it we are through.
Some say a good watch, if they are being honest that is how far we have come, a long way below mediocrity and they are willing to accept that.
We move onto hopefully a better performance in the league next week.

I was expecting a very difficult game and that is exactly what we got.
However the bottom line is that we have a final to look forward to.
In recent weeks we have been involved in two epic high scoring games that have enhanced Scottish football.

Celtic won yesterday. That’s important. We have often won in the cup but not always fired in the semis. Too many examples. We have also lost a few semis. Our finals win percentage is very high.
41 wins and 17 losses 1 Cup not presented
17 wins and 9 losses pre 1961 (my birth)
24 wins and 8 losses since 1961 (62 years)
10 wins and 1 loss in past 20 years.
Does not suggest standards falling but for some with bitter malcontent agendas nothing will be good enough.
We are in another final. A fun fact is we have not beaten a version of rangers in a Scottish cup final for 35 years. That would be fun.
24 wins and
Moisey17 on
1. Hampden access a joke as usual. Queue to turnstiles are so slow.
2. Miovski – buy him before Idah every day of the week.
3. Yang is simply not good enough. Offensively or defensively he is a long way from required quality.
4. Aberdeens cheating/game management was awful. They hit the deck constantly, the feigned injury constantly, the claimed for FKs that were never on constantly, they were in the ref’s face the whole game and they kicked the ball away at FKs and throw in’s constantly. This is clearly coached in and is becoming a problem in football and authorities need to recognise it as it is spoiling the spectacle.
5. Celtic lack power, physicality and speed especially in midfield. We are small team easily pushed around and this should be a recruitment and development priority.
6. James Forrest is still our best winger and that’s great for him and us that he has a good 45 mins in him. Kuhn is improving and DM gives us amazing energy but again is a recruitment priority.
7. We still miss way too many chances and at other times get into great positions but fail to pull the trigger.
8. Iwata was good when he came on. There are time for changing shapes but we rarely do. 442, 451 would have given us better shape to cope was late charges from the sheep.
9. Nawrocki must wonder how LS gets in ahead of him – not sure I can work it out….
10. Penalties – pleasantly surprised with quality of our pens and don’t even start about JH taking one…….
We are through and that’s what counts. We are an average side that needs a few quality additions. We have the available funds we have to use that financial muscle, upgrade our outdated salary model to one that reflects on the market we are in now not the one from 10 yrs ago.
