Age of the Bampots, McPake and cover for Victor

1008

James McPake’s absence tomorrow will be a blow to Hibs and a significant boost to Celtic.  Hibs are short on cover in all areas and McPake, their captain, is an instrumental component in their defence.  Celtic are without the suspended Victor Wanyama but they are far better provisioned all over the field, especially in central midfield.

Do you remember the good old days when a football club would be able to spin a load of old tosh to the media, who would report to an incredulous public?  This is far more difficult in the multi-channel internet age.

The BBC yesterday reported the headline “Former chief executive Charles Green is cleared of having close links with former Rangers owner Craig Whyte”, although the article itself proclaims a less ambitious “will be cleared”.

All fine and good, but I scoured several articles on this subject for mention as to whether or not the Rangers International internal investigation considered evidence from both sides – the key fact in this story, but one which was missing from reports.  Fortunately an Internet Bampot stepped in to help all those in the media.  I’m away to check all the updated reports reflecting the new information……

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his autobiography from 2pm until 4pm at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St.  Get your Cup Final weekend off to a Lisbon Anniversary start!

  4. My memory of the 6-1 final is hazy but we didnt have tickets and they opened the big side gates to let people in. We were 4-1 up and my dad took us out as he had arranged a lift. Then a thunderstorm started and i can remember sheltering under atree on kings park avenue hearing roats as celtic scored two more. Oh for that scoreline today

    Ah, of course.Silly me!

Watching the game last night, I thought I was being greedy in hoping for a Dortmund, Celtic and Donegal treble.

So, I would be happy to settle for the remaining double.

If pushed for a single…..then, sorry Donegal, but there’s always the back door!

  11. Watched the CL final on Sky Italia.

At one point the commentator said – “If Bayern win tonight and then go on to win the German Cup, they will become only the seventh European club to win a domestic double and the BIG CUP in the same season. Of course the first to achieve this were CELTIC in 1967!”

    Well said Massimo!

No Big Cup for us this year – but a domestic double will do!

    Cmon the Hoops!

    3-0!

    HH!!

  12. Kerry & Tipp are on the Box at 2pm, just a small bit of a distraction that might help the minute hand to cop itself on.

Glad you caught the train and had a good night.

Went in too quickly. I was in a lousy mood when that alarm went off at half-seven this morning right enough.

  28. It was good of UEFA to have the Champions League final done and dusted before the major show piece final in Domestic Football – The Scottish Football.

You know the way when we’re not in the final and when the Old Rangers didn’t make it either they called it a ‘Family Final’ – well, see the way it’s us and Hibs today – I think they should be calling this the Immigrants Final and celebrating ethnic diversity in Scotland…..

I must be bored before the cup final if that’s the best I can come up wth today….

but hey ….. the sons and daughters of Eireann battling it out for SIlverware…… Weather’s good…… all’s tickety boo…..
