Age of the Bampots, McPake and cover for Victor

1008

James McPake’s absence tomorrow will be a blow to Hibs and a significant boost to Celtic.  Hibs are short on cover in all areas and McPake, their captain, is an instrumental component in their defence.  Celtic are without the suspended Victor Wanyama but they are far better provisioned all over the field, especially in central midfield.

Do you remember the good old days when a football club would be able to spin a load of old tosh to the media, who would report to an incredulous public?  This is far more difficult in the multi-channel internet age.

The BBC yesterday reported the headline “Former chief executive Charles Green is cleared of having close links with former Rangers owner Craig Whyte”, although the article itself proclaims a less ambitious “will be cleared”.

All fine and good, but I scoured several articles on this subject for mention as to whether or not the Rangers International internal investigation considered evidence from both sides – the key fact in this story, but one which was missing from reports.  Fortunately an Internet Bampot stepped in to help all those in the media.  I’m away to check all the updated reports reflecting the new information……

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his autobiography from 2pm until 4pm at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St.  Get your Cup Final weekend off to a Lisbon Anniversary start!

  1. TBJ, if you are any where near me today you can still smell the whisky.

    CowieBhoy, cheers, great night.

Good morning friends as excitement and anticipation build in High Hamilton / lower EK.

Yesterday’s sunshine has given way to white cloud so my sunburnt napper can calm down a bit. I’ll be the guy in the North stand wi a Belisha beacon for a coupon.

I’m excited because today’s victory will I believe herald the start of a dominant Celtic dynasty.

A resounding victory will establish the true belief among our squad that they are indeed special.

  4. Mon the Hoops!

If we play at a high tempo from the start we will be far too good for Hibs regardless of how they play. So the onus is on the Bhoys to start well and the cup will be ours.

Slow pace will allow Hibs to settle into the game.

Get them up for the cup Lenny!

    Unending pain on FF:

“Diddy players who did win the European Cup

Players who won Europe’s biggest prize, yet were rubbish.

    L[isbon] lions goes without saying.

    Paul Dumbert also.

“Are we the biggest and greatest team never to win the European cup?

It annoys me greatly that our great club has never won Europes biggest prize. What annoys me even more is that due to modern football, a massive club like ourselves has absolutely no chance of ever winning it in the future.”

It’s all the fault of modern football.

  8. voguepunter –

current plan is to get down there around 12.45-ish so will come into the bar and just holler your name!

I won’t really. I’ll have my CQN badge on though. And some green.

  9. Warm and sunny in BR2 South London today, I feel quite calm about the game today though that may change closer to kick off, I do believe Celtic will win today and win well.

Good game last night fast flowing and end to end stuff but I do feel BM edged it especially in front of goal, they were just that wee bit sharper as we will be today. have faith, hold on HH

  11. Good morning from an overcast West end of Glasgow. Had a wonderful night last night in the company of the CQN Brigade.

A massive thanks to CowieBhoy for his incredible hospitality and wonderful venue. If CowieBhoy had been mayor of Seville in 2003 that fine city would not have run out of alcohol!

Great to meet CQN’rs I had met before and those I hadn’t. A special thanks to CRC for getting me the invite.

Great to meet, in no particular order, MurdochAuldandHay, HT, BT, MWD (again), OldTim, Lennybhoy, TheBhoyJinky, Doc, CowieBhoy, ACGR (found out what it means but I’m not telling, Masonic connotations, lol). I apologise for anybody I’ve missed due to memory failure.

A special thanks to the barmaids for their tireless efforts.

Full marks for a good memory, maybe you got my logic.

I could concede and say yes if he puts in the effort,or could say Samaras as he would dominate in the air.

What I dont want is NL playing Brown, half fit,Forrest no game time, and persisting with Hooper if he is not doing it. We would be arrogant to play expecting 8/9 men plus partial fit players to win.

I would not play Ambrose as he will concede a penalty sure as God.

Enjoy the game,I’ll be there ( and will cheer Hooper warts and all )

Brown has looked fit enough. Agree with you about Hooper.

Forrest fitness is a real worry. Reminds me of Maloney and can’t help thinking they have done too much upper body work and causing hamstring problems.

Looking for a wee bit of advice. I’m going over to try and get a ticket, so trying to figure where the bulk of the buses will come off the M74. Are the Celtic buses directed to come off at Polmadie ?

I’m glad you’re not the manager and Neil is. How would Hooper score 4 goals today if he is left out. Oh Ye of little Faith! You’re not infallible you know:-)) See what I did there?

  22. In all likelihood today will be Hooper’s last game in the Hoops so looking for a performance from him. His link up play with Commons, who will be our main man today, is the reason that he will start ahead of Stokes. Stokes is a good option to have on the bed should we require a goal in the final quarter of the game.

I think Forrest will play from the start to unnerve the Hibs defence with his pace and also to help get us an early goal.
