Age of the Bampots, McPake and cover for Victor

1008

James McPake’s absence tomorrow will be a blow to Hibs and a significant boost to Celtic.  Hibs are short on cover in all areas and McPake, their captain, is an instrumental component in their defence.  Celtic are without the suspended Victor Wanyama but they are far better provisioned all over the field, especially in central midfield.

Do you remember the good old days when a football club would be able to spin a load of old tosh to the media, who would report to an incredulous public?  This is far more difficult in the multi-channel internet age.

The BBC yesterday reported the headline “Former chief executive Charles Green is cleared of having close links with former Rangers owner Craig Whyte”, although the article itself proclaims a less ambitious “will be cleared”.

All fine and good, but I scoured several articles on this subject for mention as to whether or not the Rangers International internal investigation considered evidence from both sides – the key fact in this story, but one which was missing from reports.  Fortunately an Internet Bampot stepped in to help all those in the media.  I’m away to check all the updated reports reflecting the new information……

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his autobiography from 2pm until 4pm at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St.  Get your Cup Final weekend off to a Lisbon Anniversary start!

For weeks I’ve been brimming with confidence and deep inside I have a feeling we’ll win comfortably but at this present moment it’s a feeling of desperation that’s taking over!!

Sure I know that but I’m also acutely aware of how poor we’ve been on occasions this season.

I’m just pleading for a win at this point but it’ll pass :-)

Agree with everything you wrote. But this group of Celtic players are the Champions and our club has the Greatest tradition in the Scottish cup.

The support will hopefully be right behind the team and get things off to a good start for us all. Nervousness, off the park can transfer onto it.

I’ve been too pre-occupied with how I’m going to get a ticket to worry about trivial things like the result.

  11. Last September after my mum died and we were faced with the difficult task of clearing out her house one of the things I found was a Celtic scarf that I had bought her about 10 years earlier to keep her cosy when watching the football on the TV. Today, that scarf gets it’s first outing to a live game and will be round my neck as I’m at Hampden to see Celtic lifting the Scottish Cup for a record 36th time.

Kris Commons to be the main man today.

Still no rain yet although clouds showing no signs of shifting.

  12. Celtic to make history again by being the first ever club

to win the Scottish Cup on a Sunday.

  13. C’mon the Hoops, 3-0 today, Hooper, Commons, Sammi. Off out to cut grass.

Been out and about in the east end this morning, taking the dog for a long walk, seen a few of us doing the same thing, got speaking to a man in Ally park, he was telling me that he couldn’t get a ticket, was feeling a bit sorry for him, then he says it wouldn’t

    bother him if hibs won,

quick exit of the park, didn’t want to fall out with him, me thinks, thank Fek he never got a ticket,

to many so called Celtic fans falling for this media propaganda,

    Happy Celticing

Just don’t understand that some would countenance losing to anyone. Even that bastardized line in the chant “Bring on the Spaniards by the score Barcelona, Real Madrid etc……..rankles with me. All the more galling given our recent results.

  21. It`s been a long season and hopefully the team will finish it off in style today. Okay, I feel nervous but that`s not always a bad thing. :-)

    Morning Bhoys and Ghirls

Had a meeting with Sir Tom Farmer (hibs owner) he tells me that when Hibs last won the cup in1902 they had an Irish manager.

They hav’nt had another until; Pat Fenlon.

sent a wee shiver down my spine, but went to Willie Hill and put Celtic 4-0 Commons first goal. Hail Hail have a great day everybody COYBIB Paddybhoy

  25. The first Scottish Cup final I went to was V Aberdeen in 67, when Willie Wallace wrapped in up with two goals, just before and after half time.

A similar scoreline would suit me fine today, although the crowd today will be a fraction of the 126,000 forty six years ago.

However, thanks to satellite TV and internet links exiles like myself will be able to follow every kick of the ba’ whereever they are all over the world.

Anybody got an idea how many Celtic fans will see the game today (serious question)?

Just read this on twitter, maybe some on here have the same allergy. “I think I’m allergic to leather. Every time I wake up with my shoes on I’ve got a right sore head”
