AIK, Thistle, James Forrest again

281

While we hoped for a backlash, the performance on Saturday against Dunfermline was in the post.  Scoring 12 in two league games this month is more of a measure of where we are right now, but Tuesday’s defeat cast a long shadow.  Whatever hangover exists, it needs to lift by Thursday.

Two pieces of positive news arrived yesterday: a home tie in the quarterfinals, against Partick Thistle, and AIK lost at home to Kalmar.  Thistle will be no easier than Dunfermline, but they are the only lower league team left in the competition and the tie is at Celtic Park.

AIK rested five who eliminated Sheriff on Thursday, but as we know, a defeat at home to a team with significantly fewer resources damages morale.  AIK will slip four points off the pace if Djurgarden win at home tonight.

For a while on Saturday, it looked like our monopoly of domestic trophies could end.  Winning 28 consecutive cups games is unfathomably consistent, even the greatest teams have off days.  It is a measure of James Forrest that he again delivered.

  3. We are all Tom Boyd – Lenny out, Lawwell out and most importantly that bloody Cheque book out !

  4. My feeling is we might see at least two big loan signings in the next few weeks to keep the de-ja-vu going.

The short term fix will be our answer.

We seem to have lost the ability to make positive immediate first team signings.

We are still running with the lion share of the first team from 2/3 years ago.

I genuinely thought the Tom Boyd story was a wind up.

Firstly UK media should have no access to the channel. It was only being broadcast outside UK was it not? Apologies if wrong.

Secondly Andrew Walker victimised a Celtic player agai St Motherwell last week. Yes victimised and was an utter disgrace.

    Joke!!

    P. S., does Dubai Bhoy still post these days?

The loan signings are fine. Benkovic was useful for us last year and I’d say overall it was a worthwhile deal for all involved.

Its the failure to sign good players on a permanent basis that’s the problem. Benkovic contributed more in his year than Hendry and Compper will in their entire Celtic careers.

I’d be happy with a couple more loan signings of that quality but it has to be followed up with proper signings!

If Boli & Julien don’t work it will be a disaster. Every failed window compounds with the last.

  8. LazyD- seriously, while that lump of lard BFSDJ,who is employed by Sevco, spouts his drivel on Snyde?

  9. What they gonna do to Tom Boyd?

A 3 match suspension?……He has not featured for a couple of decades.

    What a joke.

When I think of all the bile and filth that I have heard from the other side they want to pick out this wee jokey statement of truth!

Brave post mate. You can go from hero to hun on here with one post if you upset the Cult Of Lawwell fanatics. I see there’s been some on already.

My epiphany came after the AEK defeat and another transfer window debacle. My ST is now for SPFL games only. Not one thin dime going to the Bored (not a typo BTW) until I see serious investment.12 months on I’m still waiting.

It will be interesting to see how the Cult respond if we turn up at Imminently Insolvent Ibrox with a £70m biscuit tin, according to BRTH, and lose there for the third time in a row!

Lawwell is still insisting that we’re a CL club despite only winning 1 group game in the last SIX seasons! We’ll find out over the next two Thursday’s if we’re even an EL team. I can’t say I’m too confident.

How about the Compliance Officer investigates John Beaton celebrating in a loyalist pub after officiating an “Old Firm” game? Or investigating why Beaton and 26 others out of the top 32 refereees in Scotland affiliate with RIFC?

    No?

  12. To be fair to sevco.

At least they back up their nonsense and themselves.

I think its time we made these lower than a snakes belly hacks NOT WELCOME at parkhead too.

I used to like that Tom English bloke but these past few years he has become a bitter and twisted poision merchant.

    And as for that Sitherland?…..

New Bayview was built in 1998. DJ retired in 1987.

  14. SKY running that Tom Boyd May face SFA disciplinary action. How does Tom come under SFA authority? Just more nonsense from people with no love of our club. They do nothing about sly sky commentators, BFDJ, Sevco manager remarks but want to take action against our Tom. Let’s unite and supportTom.

  15. You cant mention anything that happens at Ibrox.

    It will be labelled ‘Whataboutary’

It all starts with those two clowns from ‘off the ball’ who used to have a good show til about 10 years ago when they got their heads stuck up their arses.

I have always liked ‘Richard Gordan’ the Aberdeen supporting lead on BBC SPORTSOUND.

He is proffesional at all times at never allows any bias to inflict his opinion.

But with the exception of the excellent Michael Stewart the BBC are on the dregs these days.

SFA: ‘Tom, you are requested to present at a Disciplinary hearing’.

  21. Tommy Boyd being slaughtered merely for speaking the truth.

This is what happens when individuals speak out against the corruption, that is rife within Scottish football and society in general.

  23. ulysses mcghee - a demographic of one on

Well the guttersnipe press have had to wait years for this – fake scandal and an opportunity to bad mouth Celtic – create a narrative to protect Beaton (Ignoring his shortcomings and the letter of the law – which Mr Boyd knows) and alloy this to what they see/hope/pray as a rampant sevco.

This is just the start. Sky always seem over eager to get the ball rolling on this guff too.

Tom English – not at the game or watching Celtic TV – sectarian singing – CAN’T comment

Tom English – not at the game or watching Celtic TV – Tom Boyd’s opinion – HOLD MY BEER!

At least they’ll help galvanise our support and hopefully the dressing room
