Even the best managers/coaches find it difficult to manage change in a squad. Jock Stein in his pomp had the luxury of the Quality St Gang to replace the Lions and many argue even today that some were let go too soon. Alex Ferguson built 4 great sides during his time at Man Utd and he had the biggest budget of all teams in the league and beyond.
Brendan’s job is much more difficult because for really top class players, Celtic is seen as a stepping stone to a bigger and much richer stage. Ideally, we will “grow our own” and the chances are that these bhoys will stay a year or two longer because of their deeper emotional attachment to Celtic.
I have to laugh at those who want to get rid of so and so as if were an easy task. None of us outside the dressing room have a clue about the personnel dynamic in the squad; who are the good trainers who encourage the others, who cracks the jokes, who needs a bit more TLC etc etc. These are issues which will not be in the public domain, and rightly so. The age distribution in the squad is also important; we don’t want the squad growing old together and we need to keep a balance of youth and experience
That’s why we have a skilled manager and therefore it’s a no brainer. In Brendan we trust. I wish posters would admit that many of their views are based on what they THINK might be going on behind the scenes rather than what is actually going on. I’m not saying Brendan is faultless. who is. but some of the criticism of our manager is way out of line. If everyone in a job was doing as well as Brendan is doing his, then the world would be a far better place.

The Access List depends on Country coefficient i.e. when to join the competition. Then the Club coefficient dictates whether a club is seeded or not.

Remember UEFA today confirmed the new structure of the Champions League with 4 rounds of qualifying as opposed to 3 and only 4 spots available for Champions route

In my opinion BR is the best thing that has happened at Celtic in recent years. Of course he is not infallible, who is ?
It’s not just on the park we need to succeed, it’s off the park where we need to control and play the hostile media. BR has the whole package.
I haven’t seen one post on CQN calling for BR’s dismissal. Yes I have seen many posts questioning his decisions etc etc. I have questioned his decisions at times and yes I have called for savvy and mental toughness, especially in Europe; that is what we do on a blog .
But the bottom line is that BR is the correct fit for us and personally I hope he stays for donkeys years.
