Anthony of the Rovers

121

Scoring on your first international start has a Roy of the Rovers feel to it, even more so for Anthony Ralston, who has had a 12 months even Melchester’s finest would find difficult to script.  Fifth-choice right back a season earlier, with only one appearance to his name, Anthony looked to be heading out of Celtic and down the leagues.

For most of us, this was a puzzle.  As a teenager he showed promise, before shipping out on a couple of loan deals.  The manager sees what we don’t, so few of us questioned his position do far down the pecking order.

Ange Postecoglou started with a clean slate and Anthony never looked back.  His contribution to our season was material, and not just because of that goal in Dingwall.  It was another back post run at Hampden last night that opened his Scotland scoring account and another leap under pressure.

Anthony is under contract at Celtic for another three years, that will take him until he is 26.  If he can improve as much next season as this, we will have a player on our hands.

Not that I’d ever wish for it to happen, not ever, but would there be a sea change in US gun law if someone went and shot up an NRA meeting or indeed in the Senate, I’m afraid greed rules and innocents lives are worth nothing, a 3rd world country when it comes to collective intelligence and moral fibre, and the vast majority claim to be Christian (other faiths or no faith are available )

  2. Well done Drew1967 on taking cash from the bookies.

Feckin Norway beat me for a treble although I should not complain I started with a fiver at the last week on these Nations league games and my PP account has £305 in it. Lovely. I hardly ever gamble as well.

Just reading about Hibs’ new signing Rocky Bushiri.

Supposedly they announced a week or so back that his loan had expired and they wouldn’t be taking up the offer to buy him.

They then realised there was a clause that he had to be bought if played a certain amount of times, so have now had to announce him as a new signing.

    😂😂

The one and only hun within 30km is in my local here in Cork do I

Don’t wish to prejudice things but my vote is B.

  5. Owen: my boss for about four years was a hun. I just smiled at him. Other staff members abused him for his hun tendencies.

No other current Celtic player makes me smile as much as Tony; a lad that’s made of really stern stuff.

Isn’t it a fallacy that a manager’s decision to play a Tony or a Josip is down to ‘who is the best player between the two?’ The manager himself said its not about his No1 and No 2 picks for the positions but about x2 guys who can readily be rotated as needed.

In the modern game, a player is chosen by the system or formation the manager is deploying for any game. Tony and Jura have different strengths and are deployed if AP wants to tweak the system.

And, as porcierto said earlier, we can rely on Tony wanting to hang around here for longer.

Horrified by the USA’s love affair with the gun. So much dumb and needless grief.

“Not that I’d ever wish for it to happen, not ever, but would there be a sea change in US gun law if someone went and shot up an NRA meeting or indeed in the Senate,”

    ——————————

I regret to say that it would make no difference. In the NRA example, the shooter would be shredded into bloody fragments in a few seconds. The only time that NRA members are not allowed to open carry their military weapons of choice is when their guest speaker has the protection of the Secret Service ( like Trump days after Uvalde ).

As for the Senate, it was breached by armed insurrectionists on Jan 6, 2021. As Senators crouched in their chamber, listening to gunfire, Republican Senator Milt Romney yelled to NRA apologists Cruz and Hawley, “This is on you!”

I actually hoped that would be a turning point. Some of the invaders were hell bent on hanging Pence and Pelosi. I think Trump, as always, was lucky. If they had succeeded in their aim, I think he would have been impeached. The first thing Congressman Jordan said after 19 primary school kids, all under 10, were slaughtered, was, “The Democrats want to destroy the Second Amendment.”

One of the coroners who entered the classrooms said that if the parents of the kids had done the same as the mother of Emmitt Til did many decades ago, and insisted on open caskets, the sheer and massively nightmarish horror of the sight would have turned the world’s stomach, and probably that of millions of NRA members.

As it was, all the world saw was 19 sanitized white coffins, and America sent ‘ thoughts and prayers’ for a day or two, until the next mass shooting.

BTW, just a quick word on the x2 young Aussies who have joined our SPFL rivals:

Kye Rowles [Hearts] is a strong aggressive defender who’s likely to pick up a slew of yellow cards the way he plays.

Lewis Miller [Hibs] I mentioned him as a prospect for us later last season; fast, good dribbler and brill dead-man stare. Brawny big fella as well. Could be Hibs answer to Shirley Bassey ;)

I have just finished listening to world service prog on the hearings which are starting around now into those events which occurred on the 6th.

The beeb were comparing these hearings with the hearings into watergate,(who knew what and when ?)

It will be interesting to see if anything comes out of them re Trump,

Thank you for the response, i wouldnt think anything would make a difference to be honest, until its one of their family.

To paraphrase Scar in the Lion King “when it comes to intelligence/moral fibre/common sense, the collective of americans must have been at the shallow end of the gene pool” (no offence intended to Gene of this parish).

With regards the insurrection, for the sake of their country, action needs to be taken, of course the good ole right wing BBC had some Trump apologist on the news just there.
