Anya, Fletcher, fantasy

543

“Celtic suffer double transfer blow as they are priced out of moves for Scotland duo Steven Fletcher and Ikechi Anya.”  Fantasy stuff from a guy at the Record who was chased from Celtic Park a long time ago and hasn’t been allowed back since.

No offence to Ikechi, but if Peter Lawwell sanctioned the payment of £4m to a guy who is in and out the Watford team he’d be the next one chased out of Celtic Park.  He is categorically not a person of interest.

They’ve also got the story on Steven Fletcher wrong.  Sunderland are keen on Virgil van Dijk and know Celtic are looking for a striker.  The English club were up for using Fletcher as a make-weight but we confirmed here two weeks ago this scenario was dead before it got off the ground.  Celtic didn’t even ask to speak to Fletcher, never mind inquire about his wage demands.  Celtic need Virgil for the qualifiers and need a striker for the qualifiers.  The deal was not contemplated at any wage level, Sunderland knew this from the off.

Sunderland paid £12m for Fletcher and are coughing up £48k per week wages, not the £60k reported this morning.  Getting the wages figure right is easy, just ask someone who was involved, and it wouldn’t change the parsimonious Celtic agenda.  The fact that Fletcher’s wage figure is wrong tells you the quality of the source.  He’s a good enough player but he’s a totem of so much that’s wrong in English football.

Today’s ‘news’ is as old as I am: ‘Rangers’ ‘immediately stepped in with a bid which has been accepted’, Celtic are ‘priced out of moves’.  It’s what it looks like, the fantasy of a man who’s banned from Celtic Park.

God help this poor Irish lad if he makes it through his medical, the weight of expectation will be heavy on his shoulders soon enough.  I seriously didn’t get where they were coming from with that ‘Fear no Foe’ business, b.t.w.  The world’s changed so much.

CELTIC have been linked with FC Midtjylland defender Erik Sviatchenko, as they seek to bolster their back line ahead of the new season.

The 23-year-old Dane, who has made close to 100 appearances for the Superligaen outfit, was made vice-captain of Midtjylland at the start of the 2013/14 season.

The 6ft 1in centre half has made two appearances for his country, making his debut in Denmark’s 3-2 friendly win over the USA.

However, Celtic will likely face competition from LOSC Lille, Stoke and English Premier League newcomers AFC Bournemouth.

German side Augsburg had been linked with the defender but are believed to have scaled back their interest.

Sviatchenjko is a team-mate of former Celtic striker Morton Rasmussen and ex-Hibs defender Francis Dickoh.

That pernicious combination of hair lacquer and absinthe:

“The hatred of our great [FFin’] club

Where exactly did it stem from? It seems like it’s born out of jealousy, envy, sectarian bigotry or something more sinister. Over the last few years our club and especially us the fans have had to endure attacks from all clubs, governing bodies, media, ex professionals (including some of our own). They tried to kill us off and failed miserably. Even now as our dark days seem to have past some are sniping like a dying wasp trying to rid it’s self of the sting. There are a lot of people who should have their head in shame. I will not never forgive or forget those that have been vindictive.”

    ——

” In my lifetime it’s always been there but not as overt as it has been in the past 15 years or so.

I believe it does stem from jealousy, bigotry and ignorance.”

    ——

“Most comes from a century or more of pure religious hatred…this has gathered lots if ‘fellow travelers’ who despite not being RC have fallen in with them through the spurious, back-door ‘socialism’ which fools so many at age 18-25 (the student years).”

    ——

“The misleading Mark Daly documentary on EBTs, based on unconfirmed allegations, was still at the forefront of the minds of a lot of these people when we went into administration. That had a lot to do with their misplaced perception of us as cheats.”

    ——

“It’s sheer bigotry nothing less … I blame the schooling system in this country it must breed hatred”

    ——

“A lot longer than 15 years has the hatred been displayed although it has been ramped up recently with infiltrators into positions of authority.”

    ——

“football rivalry, because we are the best we are hated ? meh – I believe that this hatred runs deeper than that.

In Scotland especially in the west coast you are defined to an extent by your football allegiances, it’s a tribal gathering of like minded people.

To many, [Huns] are seen as the epitome of unionism and triumphalism, which the oppressed & vehemently anti-British yahoos do not like!

They have used positions of power & influence to demean us over time.”

    ——

“Mhedia and the Internet have stoked the fires, there is also a particularly virulent tarrier type out there now, poisoned with all sorts of tarrier myths

Throw in the apartheid schooling and the general dumbing down of society coupled with the rhepublican political leanings of so many, you have a perfect storm”

    ——

“As we resume our rightful position it`s only going to get worse as well.”

I am surprised to hear some advocating for the return of Gary Hooper.

As brilliant as Gary was, he patently does not suit the Ronny Deila team formation.

I would have thought the case example of Brendan Rodgers who likes his teams to play in a similar fashion (albeit with inferior players) decision to replace Suarez a man who never stopped running with strikers who never started to run would have demonstrated beyond doubt just how pivotal it is for that type of formation to have the right type of striker.

Its either a target man – or a runner.

Which of the 2 is used is determined by the game plan.

Hoops and Commons for that matter were great within a previous era’s football – thankfully we have moved beyond the prehistoric 442 and neither suit the new system.

America is one of the greatest countries in the world.

Americans are very friendly people for the most part.

*absolutely, I’ve travelled a lot in the States whether in business or pleasure, in fact I’ll be traveling there again in 7 weeks.

Usually takes 2 days driving to get to our destination, will be making it 3 days this time so I can enjoy the scenery. Shenandoah Valley is breathtaking. As John Denver said “almost heaven West Virginia”.

Sure they have more than their share of nutters but by and large the average septic tank is genuinely nice. Especially when they ask me if I’m “Scattish”, even though I’m wearing an FAI ball cap.

I’ve done the Caribbean, back hame, england, both sides in Ireland, Italy, Spain including Seville, Granada, Madrid and Morocco, but prefer a country where they speak english, use pretty much the same currency as me and the food is palatable.

Quonno, re guns in the USA from earlier,,I live in the states and honestly don’t understand it myself. However a pretty sane yank explained it like this ” if the people didn’t have guns the English would have rolled all over us.it was those people and their guns that fought and won ( the war for independence from England) so we made sure the right to bear arms was wrote into the constitution so we never will be powerless and have the means to defend ourselves from enemies. Basically they don’t trust their government a lot and want means to defend their land should it come to it. Should someone attempt to invade America they would be very foolish and quickly riddled but of course it ain’t gonna happen. So I guess it kinda better safe than sorry attitude . if you seen the news here you would understand why most don’t have passports,,the rest of the world is shown very badly,,only the tragedies appear. I’ve seen the odd ad from the Irish tourism board and some for the vacation spots in Mexico,,they seem to be the only acceptable vacations. It’s a subliminal message to keep your dollars in the USA. I’ve a redneck drinking partner and once he has a few scoops the same lines always come out. Him..you know they’re coming right? Me,,whos they? Him,,(shakes head in disgust) you don’t know a goddamn thing do you? Same redneck not long ago,,gets drunk and watches news,,gets riled up and gets out gun and sits with it on lap,,falls asleep,,wakes up and moves for cigarette,,gun ( set on hair trigger mode) falls between his legs and goes off,,two inches away from his foot and goes through two surfboards before embedding in wall. The media here would have you believe world war three is about to start. Hope this helps. Hail Hail
