The comment in today’s Telegraph by Joe Ledley confirming that, in the event they win the league early, Celtic have considered giving players some extended rest period before the end of the season has a lot of focus about it.
We have Champions League qualifiers starting on 2 July and hopefully extending six games later in the last week in August, all plans must be made with the objective of being as strong as possible for these games.
Last season APOEL Nicosia got through the Champions League group stages, beat Lyon in the last 16, before being stopped in the quarters by Real Madrid, but their European adventure this season was ended in August by Neftchi Baku. Rangers run to the Uefa Cup final in 2008 was quickly followed by an August elimination at the hands of the mighty Kaunas. We don’t need reminded of what happened in 2005, when the club formerly known as Artmedia Bratislava, and no longer playing top flight football, caught Celtic cold. Five times.
I’m keen to hear from Celtic on policing and stewarding at games. The club have to be attentive to all season ticket holders who feel they have been poorly treated, by police or stewards. Processes to deal with such matters must be open to supporter groups to audit, perhaps even to administer. Delegate thus, and you resolve many concerns.
The Lions Roar event at the Kerrydale Suite on 1 March, with a film of the 1967 European Cup final, will have commentary from Bertie Auld, Stevie Chalmers, Bobby Lennon, Jim Craig, John Fallon, Charlie Gallacher, Billy McNeill, John Clark and John Hughes. Mike Jackson will also be there with Billy. Tickets went on sale six days ago and there are only a few left…..

Kojo.
I probably missed those posts or scrolled by.
Easy reply but the truth.
You definitely know how to rub some posters the wrong way.lol
You give as good as you get.
Celtic wise i find your posts enlightening.
Politics… We can agree to differ.hh
The constant sniping at Alex Salmond and his party’s decision to hold a referendum is tedious.
There are quite a few on here who like most political hacks these days think the vast majority of the population are not to be trusted with things like the vote in case they get it wrong.
ernie lynch – 23:00 on 18 February, 2013
I’m not intrinsically an SNP voter, for reasons like that. As I say frequently I would hope in an independent Scotland that Scottish Labour could free itself from it’s Westminster policies and become a party with a social conscious once again. Then bye, bye SNP.
I think this is largely behind the SNP adopting so many social policies recently. If there was a ‘Yes’ victory next year in the previous disguise they instantly become a party without purpose. I think they’ve boxed clever on this because to the general public, they seem like the only ‘social’ party at the moment.
Cameron would love to be rid of us it’s 59 never going to be Tory seats that they wouldn’t have to worry about.
There is some hilarious stuff on here.
Ntassoolla – your desparation for nationalism betrays you. The SNP brought in the offensive behaviour bill to “even things up” with the pesky catholics. Its got nothing to do with not trusting people to vote – its just not trusting the scottish establishment.
Estorilbhoy – I am confused. Oh my goodness the GB do a bit of jumping about – I was all wrong – nail them up I say – nail some sense into them.
A power struggle my ar*&
As for no rozzers at CP – the rozzers wouldnt allow it! Simple as (besides its a great little earner for them and a chance to arrest Fenians – I mean whats not to like)!

My only objection to Salmond and his referendum is that he wants to delay it to the last possible moment.

Weeminger – perhaps PL can then explain to us all why people are turning up and finding themselves banned? That would be a useful tweet.
Just a quick post slightly off topic
I work 7 days a week in my taxi so have only just watched the sportscene highlights of the game this weekend needless to say the coverage was poor and more akin to a news bulletin than a highlights package
but can anyone explain why we had more references to the juve game and Zero and I mean ZERO Analysis of the DU penalty award??? wtf! I despair
Anyhow just needed to get that off ma chest

Its a real shame and a sham we live under westminsters rules. All the laws in place now that are hindering justice and allowing surveillance of the most personal kind, are a result of the choices of south east england. Poor old northern ireland .england does not want her and dublin cannot afford her. Oh well of to bed where dreams are still free. Night night cqn
Ernie,
Sorry they don’t.
estorilbhoy – oh my a trick question – you got me banged to right chief.
Oh wait – actually what happens is that the cops have the right of veto and Celtic get to try and presuade them to reduce numbers and costs via stewarding.
Ah well but never mind – you are too clever for me!
See all these pesky people who dare stand up and jump around – if only they didnt do that then the police wouldnt be there…..etc etc
NegAnaon2 @23:11 learn the difference between nationalism, republicanism and independence. Don’t accuse me of nationalism because you find that easier to attack than what I say. What are your views on the idea of a plebiscite?
Do you think it’s a referendum on what can be sung at Parkhead and Ibrox?
Ernie Lynch the SNP were elected. So who do you expect to choose when the vote will take place?
Me?

Personaly I’ll vote for independence and then vote against the snp.
If the party or parties in power get their way i wouldn’t be surprised if some of the voters will fail to qualify for a vote.

Trophybhoy the British will jettison yesterday’s men in Northern Ireland by using that most British of propaganda ploys. They’ll rail against them for simply not being British.
My brother-law George will finally be put to rest tomorrow beside his beloved wive Margaret who died 5 weeks. Long sad day ahead.

‘Ernie Lynch the SNP were elected. So who do you expect to choose when the vote will take place?’
I find it odd that they want to delay the referendum.
It’s almost as if they know they’re going to lose and are hoping that something will turn up that will save their bacon.
The reality is that they’ll lose and will then implode when all the internal differences, personal squabbles etc which they’ve kept the lid on because of the referendum break out.
I’m quite looking forward to it.
In recent times I’ve had a police video camera in my face at places like Tannadice and swinecastle to name a couple.
This at an event where I’m enjoying a few hours with friends. Thats an ifringement I’m sure most would agree?
To have it happen every single time you step out to watch a game of football is unacceptable!
If that was happening to me I would just stop going after bringing it to attention!
I do hope the GB dont give up.
The only difference I see between my mates and I and the GB at the games is they make a lot more noise.
A few on here suggest they are to political etc, Ill advised on some fronts too. However, to be old and wise you must first be young and stupid they say eh?
What were you like in the Jungle full of beans????
ntssoolla – err let me ask you a question. Do you support scottish nationalism (will you be voting yes)? And I didnt ask to debate the difference between nationalism etc etc.
For the record – very happy that there is an independence vote – the SNP have a mandate to have the vote so lets have it. As I indicated I do not trust scotland not to revert to anti catholicism – but thats not the only reason I wont vote yes. I am comforted by my belief there is absolutely no chance of a yes vote getting a majority.
sipsini @23:24 “Personaly I’ll vote for independence and then vote against the snp.”
I said as much myself earlier sipsini.
I want both opportunities.
Survey after survey shows that the further up the food chain people are, the less they want independence. That’s partly because they dread having to pay tax and at the same time having their government subsides removed.
Jude,
Thoughts and prayers for tomorrow, tough few weeks you’ve had.
