Audit, administer, delegate

796

The comment in today’s Telegraph by Joe Ledley confirming that, in the event they win the league early, Celtic have considered giving players some extended rest period before the end of the season has a lot of focus about it.

We have Champions League qualifiers starting on 2 July and hopefully extending six games later in the last week in August, all plans must be made with the objective of being as strong as possible for these games.

Last season APOEL Nicosia got through the Champions League group stages, beat Lyon in the last 16, before being stopped in the quarters by Real Madrid, but their European adventure this season was ended in August by Neftchi Baku.  Rangers run to the Uefa Cup final in 2008 was quickly followed by an August elimination at the hands of the mighty Kaunas.  We don’t need reminded of what happened in 2005, when the club formerly known as Artmedia Bratislava, and no longer playing top flight football, caught Celtic cold.  Five times.

I’m keen to hear from Celtic on policing and stewarding at games. The club have to be attentive to all season ticket holders who feel they have been poorly treated, by police or stewards. Processes to deal with such matters must be open to supporter groups to audit, perhaps even to administer. Delegate thus, and you resolve many concerns.

The Lions Roar event at the Kerrydale Suite on 1 March, with a film of the 1967 European Cup final, will have commentary from Bertie Auld, Stevie Chalmers, Bobby Lennon, Jim Craig, John Fallon, Charlie Gallacher, Billy McNeill, John Clark and John Hughes.  Mike Jackson will also be there with Billy.  Tickets went on sale six days ago and there are only a few left…..

Gavin Masterton was given a £4.5 M loan which was then siphoned off to DAFC and then written off by BOS. Then he was given another £12.5 M with no repayments for 35 years!

Who’d have thought big brother was Celtic PLC?

    and for what?

    Banners!

There have been loads of banners,

Off the top of my head,

One with a lion ripping the Barca badge to shreds a couple of years ago.

Tuesday had a guitarist smashing the Juve badge

We had Tynecastle being demolished by a digger.

Yosemite Sam shootin’ up another european badge (canny mind who now!)

Rapid Viennas badge got ripped in half on a banner.

There have been loads without comment.

but paint a zombie and you get arrested at the airport.,

Good spot. I suspect it removes the need to fill out the forms that would have been required previously. I disagree with these way of easing the process. It makes those charged with looking after the data lazy about checking who’s asking and why.

Doubt it. In this day and age where people are much more aware of such laws and the financial benefits of proving a breach, they’d be very careful about that. More likely to be a reduction in red tape.

Lets say in the old day each person the Police wanted info needed a seperate double signed form. This might need just need a single double signed form with a list of names. Or even more likely, an email from a specific person to another specified person, both of whom will assume that the person at the other end has made the appropriate checks and balances.

    Dangerous.

I wouldn’t mind if my leccy got cheaper, but it won’t. The people who build them will get millions in subsidies and tax relief but my electricity bills will still go up.

    Is it really 20 metres?

  19. Ten Men Won The League – 22:42 on 18 February, 2013

Maybe the police told the stewards in that area prior to the game that the arrests would be made and they might be required to assist in the calming of any fan dissent around the area arising from the arrests.

Or maybe the club were involved.

I’m not taking a position either way but so far for every plausible ‘the club are involved’ scenario, I’ve seen or been able to come up with an equally plausible ‘the club aren’t involved’ scenario.

I’m staying as open-minded on this until I see something categorical on this.

The only unquestionable fact at the moment, is that the GB get treated differently to fans in other parts of the ground.

  20. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

I know its been said before. But were the G B not allowed a free hand to decorate Celtic Park for the Barca game And what a magnificent job they did too.!!

    Double standards here Mr Lawwell??

  21. Anyway. Let’s talk about the Govt. Let’s talk about Atos who have been charged by the Department of Work and Pensions with carrying about Disability Allowance assessments. Let’s talk about the fact that they’re making a profit by subcontracting this work to the NHS.

Remind me again why it is we want to stay under the rule of Westminster, because I’m not decided yet, but that kind of thing isn’t making a compelling ‘No’ argument.

    Is it really 20 metres?’

I think it’s 100 metres for the small domestic type turbines.

The whole wind turbine industry is one gigantic scam that benefits landowners and suppliers funded by what is in effect a regressive tax.

  23. Re GB situation,

    It’s all down to control.

Has anyone noticed the GB ghuys throwing themselves and shoving themselves about during the game? I have!!

Not a serious accusation I agree and not one that excuses the alleged focus by pc plod, but if everyone decided to do it in ground then, well not something I would encourage.

There is a power struggle at play here, the GB need to conform and they are not for conforming.

One question I would be keen to find out the answer to!

We found out a couple of weeks ago that a match at Aberdeen with our national team was one of the few which was stewarded without a police presence. Why can’t we do that at CP? With the odd exception, I am sure that the stewarding of games at CP could be done without strathlydes finest, so why not do it and we would all then understand how the club want us to behave ( copyright Ian bankiers ) .
