Audit, administer, delegate

796

The comment in today’s Telegraph by Joe Ledley confirming that, in the event they win the league early, Celtic have considered giving players some extended rest period before the end of the season has a lot of focus about it.

We have Champions League qualifiers starting on 2 July and hopefully extending six games later in the last week in August, all plans must be made with the objective of being as strong as possible for these games.

Last season APOEL Nicosia got through the Champions League group stages, beat Lyon in the last 16, before being stopped in the quarters by Real Madrid, but their European adventure this season was ended in August by Neftchi Baku.  Rangers run to the Uefa Cup final in 2008 was quickly followed by an August elimination at the hands of the mighty Kaunas.  We don’t need reminded of what happened in 2005, when the club formerly known as Artmedia Bratislava, and no longer playing top flight football, caught Celtic cold.  Five times.

I’m keen to hear from Celtic on policing and stewarding at games. The club have to be attentive to all season ticket holders who feel they have been poorly treated, by police or stewards. Processes to deal with such matters must be open to supporter groups to audit, perhaps even to administer. Delegate thus, and you resolve many concerns.

The Lions Roar event at the Kerrydale Suite on 1 March, with a film of the 1967 European Cup final, will have commentary from Bertie Auld, Stevie Chalmers, Bobby Lennon, Jim Craig, John Fallon, Charlie Gallacher, Billy McNeill, John Clark and John Hughes.  Mike Jackson will also be there with Billy.  Tickets went on sale six days ago and there are only a few left…..

Interesting that you have been a previous member of the Strathclyde Stasi. Perhaps you could tell me how many “a lot are TIMS” actually amounts to?

Is their membership a true reflection of the composition of Scottish society?

Are 18% of the force TIMS as you put it?

    Are 2% other ethnic minorities?

Just how much proportional representation is there in the Scottish police?

Is this data recorded and deliverable? (HMF keeps data like this)

Is it available under the FOI?

As for for the GB and CFC “singing from the same hymn sheet”? Hymns are sung in Chapel.

Generally speaking Ballads and Dirges are sung at our football matches usually about the social injustice and crime committed by the 80% on the 18% of the population………………..I refer to scotland when describing percentages.

All Stasi type organisations require subversive organisations to be present in a society to justify their own existence. They measure their own productivity by the generation of their facts and figures through arrests and investigations.

If there are no arrests then there is no reporting and measurement of performance. This negates their very raison d’être.

Once the initial body of information has been collected then they endlessly process it to produce reports that justify their maintaining of the organisation or actually expanding it.

    Its what they do………….

The apparent behaviour of the Stasi vis a vis the GB would indicate Commissioner (sic) House of Gotham City has too much police capacity and not enough crime to go around so therefore is desperately trying to justify his organisation manning levels by focusing on perceived subversives and bogey men within minority communities……..because its a whole lot easier than attacking the majority (would they even want to?)

In other words they need bogey men either real or imagined……….

‘Survey after survey shows that the further up the food chain people are, the less they want independence. That’s partly because they dread having to pay tax and at the same time having their government subsides removed.’

Whereas SNP supporters like Sir Sean and Jim McColl, both of whom are tax exiles, will return to Scotland only when it leaves the UK?

  4. Ntassola – why cant you just answer the question (sigh I withdraw my statement that you are desperate for nationalism).

You obviously inentified yourself with this remark, which is your perfect right.

    It was also very perceptive.

As usual though it was not accurate.

I could not & would not so call you.

Just heard that last seasons Chinese champions,Shanghai, have beern found guilty of match fixing, punishment,STRIPPED of last seasons title, sincerely hope that, should a now defunct club be found similarly guilty, the authorities will be strong enough to impose such a sanction, not holding my breath though.

Cheers. So PL has put himself in a quotable position to a now named supporters group. Perhaps he’ll be long gone before any info comes out that puts his already fragile reputation in tatters, or maybe he just doesn’t care. He doesn’t seem like a man stupid enough to allow a quote like that, if he’s aware that evidence directly contradicting it is out there.

  10. A wee thought regarding independence.

On the radio today a guy made a good point. The referendum is in 2014, if it’s a yes vote, the time line is 15 months (according to SNP)

What if, in the mean time, we have an election and SNP don’t get back in?

Would there even be an election between the referendum and independence being finalised?

I posted only with the knowledge of the CST statement from earlier tody. The Affiliation one I read later tonight which suggests they were at a meeting when the issue came up but CST clearly were not.

One of the problems Celtic have is that they meet different groups at different times and as I pointed out personally to them when looking at improved communications under the membership scheme, this can create unforeseen problems as issues and info can change from one meeting to the next and what was true at “A” might no longer be true at “B” which does not make what was said at “A”a lie.

I think a lot of problems could be avoided by having one regular meeting with all groups at the same time where all sides of the story would be heard and if I have an agenda it is to get broader understanding through better communication and information on which judgements can be made.

However not only do supporter groups want to retain identity and independence so too does nearly every supporter. All very wonderfully Celtic but a communication disaster in practice and the consequent fragmentation a cause imo of much of the division.

  12. SNP,New Labour,Conservative,Liberal Democrats,London,Edinburgh, whoever and wherever, does it really make a difference to the majority of us who rules?Being controlled is the problem.Swapping one master for another is not progress or improvement to me.And the religious denomination or not of the master is just a detail. The bare fact and stark reality of it is the day to day difference to the large part of the population will be minimal to nil.Expecting a change of governance to provide a change of circumstance is a pipedream. The game will continue with the same results, plenty for the few and few for the plenty. As usual we keep our eye off the ball and spend our energy blaming the wrong people, each other and those most like us,whilst the real enemy continues to pull the strings.I hope the SNP don’t succeed.I hope the Tories,Labour or whatever other mainstream party fail as well.Unless the whole system changes it’s perpetual same old same old. That’s why I drink.

  13. NegAnon your question is insulting and accusatory. It’s not based on anything I have said and is far from “genuine”.

I certainly believe in an independent, republican Scotland.

If I see a question on Scottish nationalism on the ballot paper rest assured you will be the first to know how I answer it. Since you obviously can’t figure out my response.

I was actually there this evening. Lawell is 95% happy with the GB. The other 5% focused mostly on safety. He does not like lateral movement, ‘moshing’ etc. as this goes against the safety certificate issued. If the club are not seen to be trying to address this then it jeopardises the safety certificate. Ultimately if somebody gets injured it’s the club’s fault.

Gosh you’re suspicous :) Over 250 members apparently, and they do a lot of work for charity. Sound like a good bunch.

I can’t find evidence of a similar Rangers affiliated group (purely in the interest of balance, and to see if it was bigger)

  16. Of course I can’t find it. It’s every other football fan in the Scottish Civil Service. It doesn’t need an actual club. Stupid me.

  18. Auldheid a lot of problems could be avoided if Celtic simply communicated the truth, stopped insulting our intelligence and stopped briefing their unpaid apologists.

  19. If this site can accommodate it, could posts be listed by subject, e,g. a post about a charity would be marked as such, a post about the last game, a post about a historic game, etc. all with their respective subjects listed? I dip into and out if this site as it often feels that it is being used to promote certain political ideals, which rarely chime with my own, but I find posters often ply an agenda which is politically motivated. I don’t think this is the place for that , it is a football blog after all.

I suspect this isn’t what most people’s idea of a football message board is like, but we’re all by and large passionate supporters.

It’s a slightly ridiculous comment from you to be honest. As if what somebody does in life is a mark of what type of supporter they are.

Anyway, I don’t know any of them but a quick google showed them to be putting on plenty of events for charity, which sounds like a civic service and extremely celtic minded.
