Avoiding bad Fortune

789

I read our treble-winning captain, Tom Boyd, in the Herald advising Celtic to retain players who want away or decline to sign new contracts, until after their Champions League qualification ties, an idea we discussed some time ago.  Tellingly he added, “They will see when they go down south it’s not always as bright down there as they think it will be”, perhaps a reference to his time in the Chelsea defence.

There is unlikely to be much difference in value achieved between selling before or after the qualifiers, so as long as the players stay on-side with Neil Lennon and the club, there will be no reason to sell before then.

Recruiting is a different matter.  Celtic will want players in as soon as possible but with all in-demand talent, selling clubs have little reason to cash-in before the business end of August.  For me, there are some on the list we are currently linked with (I’m trying to avoid stepping onto the speculation train as long as possible) who I’ll be happy to see sign elsewhere.  Half the battle in transfer windows is to avoid the bad Fortune of splurging money on players who don’t work out.

Was that the time he dived at the ship wreck?

Had to be one of the best/worst dives ever.

That place is pure poison.I am sure that there were many players whom were decent human beings before they joined the old club, only to transform into rabid, cheating savages.

NOT THE VIEW famously had a pic of a young good-looking hirsute fella smiling at the camera and wearing a Chrlsea strip.

Good news, the wee man is determined to get into the guitar, he was talking about the technical aspects of the RHCP song Road Trippin, it was over my head but was music to my ears if you know what I mean. I know you and FFM will be delighted.

He says this track will be quite easy to do on the guitar, I like his confidence and can’t wait to hear him play it, he is looking forward to the Roses big style as well.

think I’m going dyslexic read the bottom line of your post & had to take a look again?

It would have been the height of political naivety not to have attended that summit.

We could only have done so on the basis of rock solid hard evidence that Celtic were being wronged.

When you look at what has happened since with what to all intents and purposes looked like rock solid hard evidence of ebts then Celtic had no option but to attend.

However, as I said, if the UTT finds for HMRC and ebts become irregular payments the gloves can be taken off because such a ruling nails down the Pharisees who depend so much on favourable interpretation of the law rather than the true spirit the law is meant to uphold.

Whether Celtic then make a stand or are pressured into one by small shareholders is only a step on the journey of exposing this for what most believe it to be -a massive fraud perpretated on our game and all clubs in it to the benefit of one club.

The fat UTT lady has still to sing and the Pharisees will be holding their breath. Woe betide them :).

  19. Petec if you are around.

How do you like the Pharisee comparison? Matthew 23 23-24 ( from memory).

All that woe predicted for that particular mindset and it all actually happenning.

Its often in the daily events of everday life that scripture can be seen to be fulfilled.

Kevin Thomson was a footballer before he went to Ibrox. Some supposed manager’s influence turned him into a ned who kicked everything that moved.

You’ll never read that in the SMSM but it is a fact.

He tried to boot everything that moved within weeks of arrival whereas before he was a footballer.

    Do the math.

*wasn’t there a young lad from Whitecrook, allegedly quite shy, who just after signing for them came off the park at half time complaining of lumps being kicked out of him to which his “dignified” manager replied “then kick them effin back”.

  21. No need for us to sell any of our top players..none whatsoever.£20m champions league due in plus season books higher than last year..lenny will buy where where he sees fit to buy.with a huge year of top experience under his belt as a young manager cutting his teeth at a huge club i think we underestimate him at times.as he said yesterday regarding certain signings”its the silly season”..trust in lenny i shall h.h
