Avoiding bad Fortune

789

I read our treble-winning captain, Tom Boyd, in the Herald advising Celtic to retain players who want away or decline to sign new contracts, until after their Champions League qualification ties, an idea we discussed some time ago.  Tellingly he added, “They will see when they go down south it’s not always as bright down there as they think it will be”, perhaps a reference to his time in the Chelsea defence.

There is unlikely to be much difference in value achieved between selling before or after the qualifiers, so as long as the players stay on-side with Neil Lennon and the club, there will be no reason to sell before then.

Recruiting is a different matter.  Celtic will want players in as soon as possible but with all in-demand talent, selling clubs have little reason to cash-in before the business end of August.  For me, there are some on the list we are currently linked with (I’m trying to avoid stepping onto the speculation train as long as possible) who I’ll be happy to see sign elsewhere.  Half the battle in transfer windows is to avoid the bad Fortune of splurging money on players who don’t work out.

I kinda developed a bit earlier than the other kids but dont have a sister. I played and scored in the famous 4-3 victory at the albion. Mr murray spoke to jock wallace and he allowed us to play there as the park across from ibrox was unplayable. Great memories. I recall you telling us this proved that they were not all bad and this proved it (paraphrasing) thank you for the time and effort you gave to me and the other kids. Dont want to sound sooky but looking back i appreciate what you did,

Mrs TET wanted me to take her back to Ireland for about the first six months here, but once we got the cave finished and moved in, she realised that we had made the right decision.

Would never dream of leaving here now.

The good bits well outweigh the bad bits, for us anyways.

Moving wasn’t that bad, bought a container, loaded it up in Ireland, gave a mate a few bob and he brought it over for me, in saying that, the lorry was stuck at the border for about ten days, there was a strike here about rising fuel prices, so the borders were closed.

Still, I sold the container for double what I bought it for, so every cloud…

    Ah,an Enoch retrospective.

When I first heard of the 7/7 bombing on the London Underground,I immediately recalled the imagery of the “Rivers of Blood” speech. It`s a pity he used such inflammatory language to get his message across, thereby diluting it.

When will our political leaders learn that Western military, and other, interventions in ” no win ” situations are counter productive.Remember Winnie`s advice about avoiding “Balkan entanglements”.Same advice, different location.

    _____________________________________________________________

Morning Bobby – The above might be a blessing in disguise ?

I know that I have slatet the strikers that we have on the books – apart from TW and GH. But having had time to recapture my thoughts…maybe now would be the time to try to work on the strikers – Bangura / Lassad / Miku – find out just how good a manager Neil is by making the best of what he has at his disposal ?

Maybe the best way forward for the club would be to buy no one at all and get the managers doing their stuff ?

Bangura was recommended by the KOK’s ?

Lassad scored a cracking goal on his debut at swinecastle !!!

Miku scored an impressive goal at Tannadice !!!

So that tells me that – these players have something in them and – it’s the managerial teams task to get it oot. imo

I apologize about the other day but – I think you’ll have to realize that
