Avoiding Bobo, Crown Office, Keyser Soze

653

Well done to Tony Hamilton and his team at Celtic Charity as well as the 60,000 participants for a memorable weekend which confirmed the spirit and heritage of the club.  It was great to see Martin O’Neill and Kenny Dalglish revel in, as well as so many of our more recent heroes, some of whom are aging better than others.

Credit also to the English Premier League players who turned up in such numbers, and who spent 85 minutes avoiding Bobo Balde, after Robert Pires ‘met’ the central defender early in yesterday’s game.  For all the array of talent on show over the weekend to prize goes to Carlos Cuellar, who spent £11k at the charity auction in the Kerrydale Suite on Friday night, the biggest donor by some distance.

The wee guy from One Direction looked terrified from the moment he first flicked his hair on the touchline, and he was on the same team as Bobo.  I’m sure he’ll recover quickly from his knock and enjoy telling the story for decades to come.

Henrik still has it, his movement was unmistakable but ‘Big Greenock’ looked like he was still 22.

The report by the Scottish Law Reporter yesterday that the Crown Office are in possession of material in which prosecutors refer to possible “discussions between former Police Officers employed by a media firm connected to Rangers FC and serving Police officers” moves the debate on recent well-publicised leaks onto a new level.

Charlotte Fakes has apparently been reported to police for inappropriately obtaining material.  While this has yet to be established, the act of reporting the content as being inappropriately obtained, had the unintended consequence of confirming the authenticity of the material.  All of which puts the content of said material under scrutiny.

Post-Leveson the media have been cautious on reporting Charlotte Fakes material without clear evidence that a crime had been committed by ‘victims’ of the leak.  If the Crown Office have now acted, parts of the media still independent may be emboldened.

With Charlotte Fakes now as easy to find as Keyser Soze the direction of the police investigation will be difficult to predict.

Yes, both Lato and Boniek were good players. Boniek player later, after Deyna. Different times but Deyna was much better than Boniek.

I remember I read discussion on here about the players from 70ties. Few tens of players mentioned but not one from Poland, who in 1974 beat Argentina, Italy, Sweden, Yugoslavia and Brasil.

Lato was best scorer with 7 goals, second best were Polish Andrzej Szarmach and Dutch Johan Neeskens.

Dark times of the Communism meant that Polish players could not move to the western clubs at all or after they were 30 or 32.

    …………………………………….

The Poland/Polska team from about 1966 to 1974 had some truly great players. Everyone remembers Lubanski, Dayna and Latto. One of my happiest memories was going to Ibrox to watch Rangers v Gornik Zabrze. I was 18 years old and my mate and I having read about how Gornik murdered Rangers 3-1 in the first leg thought that it be a ‘special night’ in the second leg at Ibrox. We. Made ourselves as ugly as we could and took our place on the Celtic End terracing at Ibrox where we were befriended by Sam and Willie from Belfast. No joke that was there names and to be honest they were OK guys. Gave us a couple of cans of lager during the game.

In the early minutes Jim Baxter who had recently returned to Rangers scored a goal with his right foot and Ibrox went wild. T

My mate and I had to improvise and half heatedly joined in the celebrations. That was the last we saw of Rangers that night because Gornik took over and were absolutely rampant. Lubanski ran riot and Gornik eventually won 3-1. They could have doubled their goals that night. My mate and I found it very difficult to keep ourselves in check one of the Belfast guys said, ” Those b####### over in the East End will be going wild when they hear this result.” We assured him that he was 100% correct. Gornik were fantastic. A great team playing great football.

The next day Willie Waddell, former Rangers player and sports writer with the Daily Express wrote an article headed “The Boy David” about the Rangers manager David White. Wade.l then went on to write ” if I were to be offered the job of Ramgers manager. These are the conditions I would demand …….” He then effectively wrote out his contract. White was sacked next day and Waddell took over as manager of Rangers.

He still could not get the better of Jock Stein despite all the hype.

The above post illustrates how one should never post when strong drink has been taken. Please excuse all spelling and grammatical errors. My only excuse is that I’ve been out celebrating my dear wife’s birthday. I was also overcome with emulsion at the happy memory of Gornik and Lubanski’s destruction of the Mighty Gers. Hic!

Poland were robbed in 74. Rain soaked pitch slowed them down v W Germany or I think they’d have won. I suppose that football but quite often the best teams dont win tournaments.

Holland will testify to that as would Platini’s France in 82.

AC Milan could be without two full-backs when they begin their Champions League soccer group campaign next week against Celtic.

Ignazio Abate picked up a groin injury in Italy’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Bulgaria in Palermo on Friday.

Milan said he will undergo new tests in eight to 10 days, meaning he will almost certainly miss the September 18 clash against the Scottish champions.

De Sciglio, for his part, has a torn meniscus in his knee and ‘needs an operation’, according to the seven-time European champions.

Milan did not say when he might be available again but such an operation can mean up to a month on the sidelines.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri will probably have to switch centre-back Cristian Zaccardo to right back against Torino this weekend – and against Celtic – with one of midfielders Kevin Constant and Urby Emanuelson filling in at left-back.

    Great post. Great story.

Don’t worry about any typo’s we all get them, especially when typing fast and speaking from the heart. Even more so in this day and age, using all sorts of platforms to post. All with their own auto corrects etc

Your post has deeper meaning too….

It reminds me of why I read CQN and why I will continue to read CQN.

Big shout out and respect to the ghuys at the golf yesterday. Wow is the only word to describe the experience.

Mystery Directors and the Rangers Sevco 5088 Switcheroo by Ecojon

A desperate and long-running battle is being waged over control of Sevco 5088 Ltd which lies at the heart of the ‘WHO OWNS RANGERS’ riddle.

Attempts to send the company to an unmarked watery grave appear to have failed and the Registrar at Companies House has withdrawn documents from public scrutiny which attempted to remove two of the three directors controlling the company.

This story has enormous repercussions for the SFA and the future of Rangers; Ticketus; shareholders of Rangers International Football Club; a London court case next month; the BDO investigation into Rangers; the main players viz Charles Green, Craig Whyte and Aidan Earley.

MANY believe Celtic’s Champions League Group of Death should be accompanied by the Mission Impossible theme tune.

Hoops legend Henrik Larsson isn’t one of them.

He won the tournament with Barcelona in 2006 and knows all about the strength of AC Milan and Ajax.

The Hoops have arguably been handed the hardest possible draw as they bid to make the last 16 again.

But Larsson insists it would be CRAZY to write off his old club — and backed Neil Lennon’s men to upset the odds.

He said: “Nothing is impossible. The teams coming to Celtic Park are not going to enjoy it much.

“Being realistic, you can see that is a very tough group for Celtic.

“Is it more difficult than last season? That group was difficult and so is this one.

“It depends what Celtic can get out of the home games. Hopefully they can then do something away from home — then you never know.

“There was a wee smile when I saw Barcelona come out of the draw again, as they are two clubs who have been special in my career.”

Larsson is currently out of the game and watched from Sweden as Celtic embarked on a stunning Euro run last season — qualifying from a group containing Barca, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.

They made headlines across Europe before Italian giants Juventus knocked them out in the last 16.

Since then, Lenny has lost the key trio of Gary Hooper, Victor Wanyama and Kelvin Wilson.

And Larsson warned new Bhoys like Finnish striker Teemu Pukki they have to show they can cut it at Parkhead immediately.

He said: “Last season’s success will help Celtic but they have lost a few important players.

“It’s time for the other guys to step in.”

Larsson pulled on the Hoops again on Sunday as he starred in the Stiliyan Petrov charity match.

The Swede, now 41, scored his customary goal in a 5-3 defeat for Martin O’Neill’s Celtic side.

He admitted it was an emotional day as the bulk of the Hoops’ Seville squad joined forces a decade after the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.

And he revealed Petrov’s brave fight against acute leukaemia has brought them closer together.

He said: “It was a great occasion. Stan was a big part of the group we had during that period.

“We were very tight and still are.

“It’s always fun to see the guys. We are close and stay in touch.

“Things like this bring you even closer together.

“When something bad happens to anybody that is close to you and you shared so much with, it makes you tighter. It makes you realise that you are not immortal.

“Stan was fitter than most people so it can happen to anyone.

“It was fantastic to see that Stiliyan is getting better and better. That is the most important thing.

“The fans have always been behind Stan in the hard times.”

Petrov admitted the emotion of the day was too much for him.

The Celtic legend broke down in tears during a lap of honour at the end of the Parkhead contest.

    He confessed: “I told myself I wouldn’t cry and I’d hold it together — but I couldn’t.

“It was so emotional with the fans like that and it was a very special day for me because I’ve been through a lot, and all the players who were here really enjoyed it.

“The Celtic fans showed the world just how special this place is.

“As much as we’re talking about the atmosphere, the money we’ve raised and the awareness is huge.”

  14. ‘The director appointment forms submitted to Companies House declared that Earley and Whyte were appointed Sevco 5088 directors on 9 May 2012 and each signed their appointment forms which were countersigned by Charles Green. The striking-off instruction for Sevco 5088 required a minimum of 2 directors to sign if a company had three directors but only Charles Green signed it which is only allowable in a sole director company. The spaces for additional director signatures were marked with an ‘X’.’ – frpm paul mcconville’s blop
