Avoiding Bobo, Crown Office, Keyser Soze

653

Well done to Tony Hamilton and his team at Celtic Charity as well as the 60,000 participants for a memorable weekend which confirmed the spirit and heritage of the club.  It was great to see Martin O’Neill and Kenny Dalglish revel in, as well as so many of our more recent heroes, some of whom are aging better than others.

Credit also to the English Premier League players who turned up in such numbers, and who spent 85 minutes avoiding Bobo Balde, after Robert Pires ‘met’ the central defender early in yesterday’s game.  For all the array of talent on show over the weekend to prize goes to Carlos Cuellar, who spent £11k at the charity auction in the Kerrydale Suite on Friday night, the biggest donor by some distance.

The wee guy from One Direction looked terrified from the moment he first flicked his hair on the touchline, and he was on the same team as Bobo.  I’m sure he’ll recover quickly from his knock and enjoy telling the story for decades to come.

Henrik still has it, his movement was unmistakable but ‘Big Greenock’ looked like he was still 22.

The report by the Scottish Law Reporter yesterday that the Crown Office are in possession of material in which prosecutors refer to possible “discussions between former Police Officers employed by a media firm connected to Rangers FC and serving Police officers” moves the debate on recent well-publicised leaks onto a new level.

Charlotte Fakes has apparently been reported to police for inappropriately obtaining material.  While this has yet to be established, the act of reporting the content as being inappropriately obtained, had the unintended consequence of confirming the authenticity of the material.  All of which puts the content of said material under scrutiny.

Post-Leveson the media have been cautious on reporting Charlotte Fakes material without clear evidence that a crime had been committed by ‘victims’ of the leak.  If the Crown Office have now acted, parts of the media still independent may be emboldened.

With Charlotte Fakes now as easy to find as Keyser Soze the direction of the police investigation will be difficult to predict.

    SydneyTim/Kev/MickTT/HT,

That was my 1st Euro away trip. Went on “Biff’s Bus” from Heraghty’s bar.

Seem to recall singing “Always Look on…”, but cant say for definite (wonder why??) or if that was the 1st time we sang it.

Mikey G did score a belter from around 25yrds out. The residents of Ekeren (a wee town on the outskirts of Antwerp) did not know what had hit it. The Celtic support marched almost en-masse from the town square to the ground. People were leaning out their windows on their equivalents of tenements taking pictures etc.

Im sure there was a TV camera crew taking film of us outside a cafe/bar singing our lungs out as usual.

Loved that trip. Didnt enjoy the ferry trip Ostend – Dover later that night anywhere near as much. Most guys had faces the colour of part of our strip. then of course there were the other nutters sitting swallying laughing at the misery of most of the rest of us!

have to admit that my next Euro away trip was not quite as much fun. Well the going there was, but the game and returnd journey far less so.

That 2nd trip, was the very next round.

Happened to bump into a friend within CelticFC today. They reckon that Louis added 15k fans to the gate. Given the media attention as well, excellent outcome for both CelticPR and Stan’s and Celtic charity.
