Avoiding Bobo, Crown Office, Keyser Soze

653

Well done to Tony Hamilton and his team at Celtic Charity as well as the 60,000 participants for a memorable weekend which confirmed the spirit and heritage of the club.  It was great to see Martin O’Neill and Kenny Dalglish revel in, as well as so many of our more recent heroes, some of whom are aging better than others.

Credit also to the English Premier League players who turned up in such numbers, and who spent 85 minutes avoiding Bobo Balde, after Robert Pires ‘met’ the central defender early in yesterday’s game.  For all the array of talent on show over the weekend to prize goes to Carlos Cuellar, who spent £11k at the charity auction in the Kerrydale Suite on Friday night, the biggest donor by some distance.

The wee guy from One Direction looked terrified from the moment he first flicked his hair on the touchline, and he was on the same team as Bobo.  I’m sure he’ll recover quickly from his knock and enjoy telling the story for decades to come.

Henrik still has it, his movement was unmistakable but ‘Big Greenock’ looked like he was still 22.

The report by the Scottish Law Reporter yesterday that the Crown Office are in possession of material in which prosecutors refer to possible “discussions between former Police Officers employed by a media firm connected to Rangers FC and serving Police officers” moves the debate on recent well-publicised leaks onto a new level.

Charlotte Fakes has apparently been reported to police for inappropriately obtaining material.  While this has yet to be established, the act of reporting the content as being inappropriately obtained, had the unintended consequence of confirming the authenticity of the material.  All of which puts the content of said material under scrutiny.

Post-Leveson the media have been cautious on reporting Charlotte Fakes material without clear evidence that a crime had been committed by ‘victims’ of the leak.  If the Crown Office have now acted, parts of the media still independent may be emboldened.

With Charlotte Fakes now as easy to find as Keyser Soze the direction of the police investigation will be difficult to predict.

Very happy 5th birthday to fearless Oscar Knox,

28 Years ago today my brother and I popped down the M4, in the hope that Scotland would best the Welsh at Ninian Park and we would be on our way to World Cup Glory.

Well we won but the day was no less Tragic for that.

WGS played that day, legends all around him.

Hope he can restore a bit of pride in our nations Football.

We bit of pressure this evening, he was expected to lose all his other matches, this one he should win.

NIR BITON is set to miss a potential Celtic debut against Hearts due to work permit issues and Yom Kippur.

The 21-year-old joined the Scottish champions from Ashdod last month and fans had pencilled in Saturday’s game at Tynecastle as a first chance to see the Israeli.

But Record Sport understands the full paperwork for the player’s work permit, which has to go through various channels including the British Embassy in Turkey, has yet to be completed.

Biton has been granted a permit but finalising the documentation is proving to be a slow process.

Biton could also be excused from duty this Saturday due to Yom Kippur, traditionally observed with a 25-hour period of fasting and intensive prayer. Clubs outside Israel have left players out when a request has been made.

In recent years, English Premiership players Tal Ben-Haim and Tamir Cohen have been allowed to miss games for Yom Kippur, which this year begins on Friday evening and ends on Saturday evening.

It is seen as unacceptable to work or play sport – the Israel Tennis Association had to pay £10,000 for refusing to play a Davis Cup match.

I didn’t think much of it.

I’ve heard plenty of people justifiably and properly booed over the years after fouls and orderings off.

Terry’s was more of a good natured tease – a bit of a laugh, I thought. I would imagine he quite enjoyed it.

Have to say did not hear the booing as not at the game but have read in a few places that it was light-hearted. If not then I agree it was poor by the individuals involved. I would like to pay tribute to Terry and to Carlos Cueller (excuse the spelling) for their wonderful gesture in getting involved in this game.

I doubt booing of jt could spoil such a wonderful occasion. While you or me might not agree with the booing there is no way that such a small display of negativity could detract from the love, camaraderie and positivity that was oozing out of Celtic park. That day was a credit to the club and everybody who made an effort to attend or give to the charity.

  22. Morning all

    Happy birthday to Oscar.

Re the booing on Sunday – thought the Terry booing was fairly half hearted and after he was roundly applauded about 20 mins in largely disappeared. The booing of the One Direction guy – Louis?- was odd though. I think of the 60000 plus people there on Sunday he was the only person who didn’t enjoy himself.
