Bobby and Tommy, men with established priorities

412

You are going to read lots about Tommy Burns, who we lost 10 years ago today, and Bobby Murdoch, the first of the Lions to go, on this date in 2001, so I’ll share an observation on both.

Tommy’s coffin was carried into the church by Ally McCoist and Walter Smith.  Tommy had lots of friends, former team-mates and players, as well as a large family.  There was no shortage of candidates to carry the man’s mortal remains, but in extending the invitation to Walter Smith and Ally McCoist, he left you and me something to live up to.

There can be few more public expressions of an intimate invitation.  How well do you and I reach across the city to others?  I have considered that question, on and off, for almost 10 years.

The only time I met Bobby Murdoch he went straight to asking me what I did for a living.  Then he talked about his wife, Kathleen, and her job.  There were a dozen others in the room, nine of whom were Lisbon Lions, but that was what Bobby wanted to talk about.  His priorities were well established.

  2. I saw Tommy play many times for Celtic. He was a tall, technically gifted player. Looking back now he had such a presence at matches. He was the jinky, lennon, mcgeady figure in scottish football , he was the creative midfielder always pressing for a goal a bit like Ozil at Arsenal. I also saw Bobby Murdoch play, a legend. I cant believe 10 years have passed since Tommy Burns left us but It’s good to remember now what he became as a man and the coach that he became and the legacy he leaves.

  3. I predict that certain SFA staffers will be quietly retired.

No action against Sevco but some oldco directors censured.

SFA claim that this type of thing will not happen again.

    No Police Investigation will happen.

    Move on

  4. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

No mention of the SFA charges on sky sevco news.

I’m not building my hopes up of justice being fully served . Will Andrew Dickson and Campbell Ogilvie be held responsible for their involvement ? As usual the media will turn into an us v huns issue which is not the case

My thanks to all the resolution 12 guys for their efforts and resilliance during this whole procedure which with the evidence available over the past 4 years , should have been dealt with sooner.

Well done to the Res 12 Bhoys take a well earned bow for your patience and tenacity HH ..now watch as the switcheroo happens between the Club and Company routine!

Canamalar, hats off to you on stirring us into action. I went out and bought shares specifically to be involved and I’m so glad I did.

You and the rest of the team have hung in there and now hopefully you see your hard work bear fruit.

Well done the Resolution 12 team.

    ?

  7. The statement blames the SFA for not catching them of fraud at the time, so therefore no blame on us lol.

  8. glendalystonsils on

This from their response, shows quite breathtaking hypocrisy .

“The Club will fiercely resist this reconstructed Notice of Complaint. Unfortunately, monies that should be available to Scottish youth and grassroots football will be diverted into another rehearsal of seven-year-old debates on the rights and wrongs of events that the SFA should have prevented at a time when doing so would have served a useful purpose.

“It seems that Scottish Football is, once again, being directed by individuals intent on harming the Scottish game, Rangers Football Club and its supporters by pursuing a course that has no sensible purpose or reasonable prospect of success.”

There really is no place for such scum .in sport, or indeed society.

Follow and swallow going full tonto on the sfa compliance story. A call to arms has been issued and battle lines are being drawn up.

One would hope they’re not looking for a band to march them into battle. It would appear that ship has sailed.

    Angry angry DOBs?

  10. Well done, all you bhoys who saw this through. It has taken great courage and perseverance on your part, but you never gave up seeking justice.

Some of here doubted that you would ever achieve anything. Well now they know better. However, there may still be a way to go yet before justice is achieved.

Bhoys, you too have played your part in the history of our club.

  11. Well done the Resolution 12 guys and The Battered Bunnet for introducing, “must act in the utmost good faith”, phrase to the discussion as, I believe, it may be very significant.

I note no mention on Clyde news, (though report on Lenny being cited for Sunday), no mention on Sky, while BBC include the whole Sevco defence/statement /threat in their report.

One would imagine that there is still a long way to go before justice is served in this matter, but, and a big but, the Resolution 12 boys have provided a great service in progressing this matter so far.

    Congratulations.

Following following on from sevco’s idiotic statement number 1690, The thing about the wee tax case is their own QC told them HMRC had indisputable evidence of their guilt with the Discounted Option Scheme operated so the huns already admitted they were guilty.

And the thousands who directed hate chants towards him throughout the game…………..?

  14. Does this not simply confirm that so far as the SFA are concerned they are the same club?

Reading that poisonous pile of pish released by Toxico,it does make you worry. But it does actually provide a timeline, one similar to the only thing that keeps them going-apart from hatred and bigotry,of course.

Should it not be RFC the liquidated club that the SFA charge? Surely the club that Charles Green founded has nothing to do with this as it was before they came in to being? Don’t like where this is headed.

  23. ERNIE LYNCH on 15TH MAY 2018 @ 5:32 PM

No. It doesn’t mean same club.

The Rangers statement does, however, show the 5 way agreement card is being played by the SFA.

Aye,and that is to their shame.

I must congratulate everyone involved in Res 12. That’ll be CANAMALAR,MORRISEYTHE23RD,AULDHEID,BROGANROGANTREVINO&HOGAN.

These guys suffered,I’ve seen a lot of the abuse they got online-I informed them of some of it. Personal photographs, clearly lifted from personal accounts. Personal information, which would have had me phoning the cops,my former employees,my union. Who else had that info?

An unsung hero is STEINREIGNEDSUPREME as he cajoled CANAMALAR into raising RES12 in the first place.

I hope STEINREIGNEDSUPREME is smiling today,as many of us are. I hope his former bosses at SKYSPORTSNEWS are shiting their pants.

Trying to figure out what these charges mean in the grand scheme of things… perhaps someone can clear it up for me…

I thought Res 12 was ‘not about Rangers, but about institutional change’….

Based on these charges, isn’t the likely outcome that Rangers will be found to have lied, and then slapped on the wrist? The focus will be on the zombies… is this not the opposite of what Auldheild has told us should be the focus?

I can see these charges being used as evidence that ‘the system works’, so no changes are necessary …

    what am I missing?

  26. MIKE IN TORONTO on 15TH MAY 2018 @ 5:52 PM

You might be right but I think this might ‘out’ the SFA before Regan, the one that he led and most importantly the 5 way agreement.

On the surface it looks to be about rangers, but the new club won’t accept things quietly.

  27. Not sure if regurgitation of old news or a genuine interest.

Celtic are chasing a summer deal for Chancel Mbemba, reports the Newcastle Chronicle.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to freshen his side up after once again winning the Premier League, and the Newcastle United player is on his radar.

Mbemba signed for the Magpies in 2015 for £8 million, but has played a minor role since Rafa Benitez took charge.

The centre-back has played just nine Premier League games this season, and that follows just 12 in the Championship the year before.

A fee for the 23-year-old would likely be low, he has two years left on his contract but it is clear that Benitez deems him to be surplus to requirements.

The Congolese international still has lots to do to reach his potential, and a move to Scotland could help him do that.

Mbemba would likely jump at the chance to leave St James’ Park, especially when European football can be offered to him as well as first-team football.

  28. I’m am absolutely delighted for Res12 guys. And hoping this only the beginning where the end will be a vindication of everything the have campaigned for.

But. And I don’t like to say it…

Why do I have a nagging suspicion that the reason this took so long to come to fruition is that the SFA needed to act out all the possible scenarios and come up with a charge which has pre-determined consequences. Not just pre-determined but pre-agreed.

Just like the LNS commission verdict which was illogical, indefensible and unbelievable in equal measures.

As a lawyer yourself-and from what I am told, one helluva lawyer-there is no way that evidence of wrongdoing by officialdom is evidence that the system works.

Quite the opposite. And should the SFA attempt that as a defence,I await your day in court. I expect they will be represented by Mr Custard.

  30. Delighted for the Canman and the other Res 12 bhoys, can’t help feeling that we have all been here before tho, justice will not be had, they have been banged to rights time after time and still nada.
