Bring it on, Celtic

Icelandic champions, you say?  Not much to worry about there, you would hope.  But Stjarnan knocked Lech Poznan out of Europe last season, and Poznan went on to take the Polish league from our old pals Legia Warsaw, who were a pretty decent team last season.

Stjarnan were not nearly as good as Lech Poznan, nor were they as good as Motherwell, who they also put out of Europe a year ago, but get your close-season wrong (the Polish Ekstraklasa doesn’t break until June), and you’re out, no matter if it’s Stjarnan or Maribor on the match ticket.

Let me put it another way, I wouldn’t fancy St Johnstone against Stjarnan right now, and Saints won at Celtic Park as recently as March.  A red card in the wrong place (need I remind you of Efe, big Dan?) and you’re in trouble.

I’ve not seen the new livery on Celtic Park, the photos of which look superb, so I’ll be along early tonight to drink in the summer atmosphere.  There’s also the anticipation of looking forward to seeing a few new faces in competitive action for Celtic for the first time.

The most important performance of tonight will be from Dedryck Boyata.  More than any other area of the team, defence is all about partnerships, so how quickly Dedryck fills the Jason Denayer gap will go a long way to determining whether Celtic qualify for the Champions League group stage this season.

Remember to swap out your old season ticket from your wallet with your NEW ticket!

Bring it on, Celtic.

Something approaching ‘buzzing’ for tonight. Only a matter of 7 weeks since our last game but seems ages.

Would always prefer the first of these games ‘ away’ as thinking as far back as St Pats we seem to make a meal of these games at CP. It seems wrong that so much rests on this game and the next round but sadly that is out lot and is unlikely to improve.

Enjoy the game – no rest until May now!

  7. For those looking for a pub to show the game when on holiday the chances are slim.

Unless the publican is a) an overesas subscriber to Celtic TV with a laptop connected to the pub TV by an HDMI cable it is highly unlikely

    Unless

The publican is prepared to track down pirate streams taken from the Celtic TV stream on his laptop and transfer to TV via HDMI cable.

    Again unlikely.

What he will not be able to do is find game on the usual channels through which he gets Sky or BT using familiar menus.

So you need a pub owned by a Techie Tim who appreciates the value of showing the only game in his town, not so much in money terms but out of a sense of Celtic camaraderie.

If you think Harman is the “next Labour leader” then you are mistaken. She is a temporary leader who has overreached.

If you think that the party is in unison behind her you are also mistaken. There has been outrage within the party and the majority of the ACTUAL leadership candidates are opposed to it.

But then again, nats never let the truth get in the way of kicking the so-called red tories as they continue their unspoken alliance with the actual tories.

Steady on mate, I’m not starting a witch hunt. I’m worried about Charlie playing centre half because I don’t think that’s his best position. He’s more suited to be a sitting midfielder but that’s where Biton is. I support whoever pulls on the hoops but I think it’s a sad day when we stop getting pre match nerves. HH

Was sorely tempted to nip down the road for lunch with you next Tuesday, but on checking my diary, I see that I will be attending the Hand Made Hamburger emporium in Union Square, Aberdeen, with a certain Lambo’s Front Teeth at that date and time. Long overdue.

Will you gentlemen be appearing at the CQN Gowf 2015 in any capacity? Other than as cross-dressing waitresses that is.

Charlie is no more than a squad player this year, his lack of pace rules him out of the middle of the park except as you say taking bitons place when he is out.

Charlie won player of the year playing CH for us.I am not saying that you are starting a “Witch hunt”its just that comments like yours only add to the others that have been made. Its a snowball effect. We have witnessed it with many players before.

If you must have pre-match nerves,I would have thought they would be about Boyata, who we have hardly seen.

Anyway, enjoy the game.Think you will be very happy afterwards.

I posted here years ago re Ibrox being a masonic lodge in it’s own right(rite).

This meant that it was available for visits from other lodges.

This information came from my father’s old pal, who was a FM, but also the truest Celtic supporter that I have ever known.

Look,I am not saying Charlie will start every week. What I said was he is a very good player.I will stand by that.Who RD plays is not for me to decide.Away from home in Europe,I would think,IMO,that both Charlie and Biton could play in front of the back four.

Again,OMO.Its a long hard season,if we qualify for the CL,every one you mention will get game time.
