Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

1111

Celtic surrendered another two points to fall further behind in the championship race, drawing 0-0 at home against Hibernian.  It was a unorganised looking performance from the home team who gave Graham Stack little to do in the Hibernian goal.

Gary Hooper squandered Celtic’s only gilt-edged chance of the game when, after playing a one-two with Anthony Stokes, he struck the outside of the post with Ki available for the square pass.  Anthony Stokes had earlier tested Stack, who failed to hold the ball but did enough to clear.

When the same teams met on Wednesday James Forrest transformed the game when he drifted inside but he spent most of today’s game adrift on the right wing.  On two occasions he cut inside with purpose, once testing Stack with a blistering shot from 22 yards and later when a 25 yard pile-drive struck the crossbar, but Hibs were content to limit Celtic to such speculative efforts.

Neil Lennon was justified in his criticism of his front pairing of Stokes and Hooper today but Celtic were equally clueless in midfield.  There appeared to be no cohesion and there was certainly not a productive match plan.

Motherwell’s away win in Inverness gives the Lanarkshire side a three point lead, having played a game more, going into next week’s crucial game against Celtic at Fir Park.  Manager-less St Johnstone dropped three points at home this afternoon, leaving them four points behind Celtic in the fight for the last Europa League place.

This is where we are people, scrapping between Motherwell and St Johnstone. Get used to it.

  4. Last season we all stood behind Neil Lennon and rightly so after the hell he was being subjected to personally. However this unfortunately disguised the deficiences of his Celtic team and indeed the manner of our collapse in the league. He managed to galvanise the team and unite the support after the pittance that was Tony Mowbrays tenure. Any football board with a semblance of some vision should have acknowledged this small success as phase 1 in our progress and secured an experienced manager of calibre to take this team onto greater things. After 3 transfer windows Lennons Celtic consists of constant changes to his starting XI, scattergun substitutions, the alienation of his best player Kris Commons and trusting players who consistently fail us. That in a nutshell is why this campaign is our worst start to a season since the Barnes/Dalglish pantomime.

From the supporters point of view, our eye has been taken off the ball with constant argy bargy with referees, the SFA, The Police, Scottish Government & laughing at Rangers recent slow death. The reality is that every one of us is compliant in the shambles at Celtic. All our energy should be invested in having a team on the park that can contest trophies & nothing else.

From the boards points of view, i firmly believe they are running the club with complete financial sense, however the football operations strategy & scouting is killing us. I have my reservations that there is any kind of scouting policy in place. It looks to me like we simply respond to agents making us aware of clients availability. When you see the number of games that El Khadouri & Kelvin Wilson played before joining us, that shouldve sent alarm bells ringing. Compounded by the signing of Bangura, the worst centre forward i’ve ever seen at Celtic and the picture looks worrying.

We are at a similiar pivotal point as we were when Martin O’Neill was acquired and we need the same magnitude of faith & vision from the people who run our club to do the right thing. My fear is that we do one of two things

    (1) We Bring in someone on the cheap who is Celtic minded like Mark McGhee, John Hughes etc simply to sell season books next season. I find this strategy condascending much in the same way it was when Robbie Keane was signed. Wim Jansen & Gordon Strachan have proved you don’t need to know the first thing about Celtic to make them successful so bin this Celtic Minded pap!

    (2) We go for Roy Keane & throw him a big transfer kitty.

Its the correct time to bring in someone with experience who can structure teams, make them hard to beat and create scoring chances

I was in 111 yesterday, first time since the cops decided they had limitless powers.

Anyone attacking the behaviour of the GREEN BRIGADE or defending the actions of the police should try being up close.

They will be as horrified and disgusted at that fascist display as I was.

    It was a total disgrace.

So what you’re saying is that we’ve given up trying to fund a winning SPL team? I would agree with you as that is what it seems like.

Leadership, vision, change in Scottish football, dream on, we can’t even agree on the number of teams in the league let alone address the hard stuff.

Self interest will always win the day and for that reason they will be voted straight back into the SPL with minimal penalty should they go into administration. They will also still win the league which suggest to me that the baw is now finally burst as far as Scottish football is concerend.

    what does Parker do ?

Gives the 4th official the numbers to put up for substitutions. Noticed that yesterday!

  8. The day after and i am still angry. We have to change. Saying it is all the players fault is not good enough Neil. If they were so poor why did you leave them on the pitch for the majority of the game – Poor man management combind with poor tactical nounce is the problem. Would MON have named players in public?

Would Mr Stein have let prima donna players wear a Celtic shirt?

Time for a new Celts for change.

    Get a grip,ya choob….

  10. ‘Wanting the best for Celtic ‘ is a statement that is probably indisputably true, Surely we all want ‘the best’. But ‘all wanting the same’ is quite different and sadly untrue. It is in fact the major factor in the apparent disputes over where we seem to be heading. Some want stability, some financial success, some want Dermot to go, some for him to spend, some for Lenny to go, some for him to be given dosh, some for the players to be publicly pilloried, others for the team to be supported unconditionally, some to stay in Scotland, some to head for fresh pastures.

There is no need for outside agencies to sow dissent and divide our house. We’ve done it ourselves.

We need someone to unite us under one banner….. on one road….. it may be the wrong road…. but we’re together now who cares…great idea for a song.

This takes a special person with vision, dreams, imagination and determination.

I would do it myself but I’ve got to get ready to go to the pub.

The number of good young fit players we have signed in recent years who have had very good starts to their celtic careers before going off the boil is remarkable. I would question the coaching.

Ki has been one of our better players this season and is giving us goals from midfield. He has struggled in the last coule of weeks and yesterday looked knackered. Good management would identify that and rest him for a couple of games, all the travelling to the other side of the world to play for Korea will eventuallytake its toll.

More bizarre was his inclusion of Ledley in teh same comment. Ledley is our best midfielder, and whilst the manager is correct to praise him, why continually shunt him wide left, left back, or worse still to the bench at Ibrox?

They weren’t happy that the demonstration and march to Celtic Park went peacefully so they tried their utmost to provoke a reaction inside the stadium.
